The Red Sands in a newer property. Very nice accomodations and views. It is in a quiet area and the staff is very friendly and informative. Toiletry samples were high quality. The drive to the Red Sands is spectacular itself. Great location; easy access to convenience stores and restaurants. Happy to have found this gem!

The staff were pleasant and very helpful. The location was great, very near entrance of Capitol Reef. It is an old hotel though. It´s still a fine place to stay, but for the price paid, I did expect a little more.

I've been to Torrey, UT twice now; both times to compete in the Capitol Reef Classic Stage Race (a bicycle race). This is the third place I've stayed, and I have to say it was the best in every respect: reasonable room rates, clean, quiet, good amenities, and friendly staff. I recommend it highly.

The Red Sands is fairly clean, but there were details that were disturbingly missed. For instance, our room had an unused razor in a package, and an opened toothpaste package like ones given out to guests who forgot theirs. While the packaged razor was appreciated, it was likely missed in cleaning at the same time as the toothpaste was missed. The […] staff was helpful when needed. Good price. Family owned. Personal & congenial staff. New ownership within last year. Clean rooms with a nice view of the country side on the back side of the hotel. Nice pool & hot tub. 11 miles from Capitol Reef National Park. Excellent resturants in the area. Highly recommend.

Hotel was conveniently located. The Air conditioner in the room was a noisy. The room was adequately furnished. The pillows were too big and firm, but we carried our own so we were fine. We made a last-minute reservation during a holiday weekend, and the price was lower than I expected to find under the circumstances. The room was comfortable, in a convenient location, staff was friendly and personable. Since this is a non-smoking property, an outside smoking area has been provided, complete with an attractive stone table and seats. […] We had lovely views of the surrounding mountains and the area. Nice indoor pool, and free sweets in the lobby. Room was clean and comfortable, although the walls are thin and we could hear people talking in other rooms. It is probably too far to walk into Torrey, at least at night, so need to take the car to find a restaurant. Hotel's free breakfast was basic but adequate. (Cereal, toast, waffles, hard boiled eggs).No […] fruit, juice, yoghurt etc.People were taking in their own peanut butter to put on toast... One small stone bench at far end of building was only outside space to sit - which was a pity as the weather was good, and there was only an untidy dirt strip behind the hotel, which could have been put to good use, with just a couple of benches. Room toiletries were not replaced during a two-night stay (including the toilet roll, which was down to about a dozen sheets by the time we left.) Read more

We stayed at the Red Sands Hotel for one night. I cannot say that I felt comfortable although it is nothing really wrong with that hotel. The staff was friendly, check in and out was easy, the room and pool were clean and W-Lan was available, although it was slow. Location is good to visit the Capitol Reef NP and the cost was okay. There are two things […] to complain: breakfast was very little and didn’t taste well and the smell of the room was really bad. Also TV was not the best. There was a fridge but no microwave or coffee maker. Coffee was available in the breakfast area. Overall the atmosphere was missing and so I will look somewhere else next time. Read more

Hotel liegt sehr günstig; wir hatten ein schönes großes Zimmer zur Rückseite mit Blick auf die Wälder der Umgebung. Personal war sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend. Wir bekamen sogar eine extra Einladung für den Indoorpool mit Hot Tub, aber wir waren von der langen Fahrt etwas geschafft und hatten dazu keine Lust mehr. Dieses Hotel haben wir nach einer zeitlichen Reiseverschiebung gebucht. Wir kamen spät und im Dunklen an. Es liegt sehr einsam an der Straße, der Ort ist ein Stück weiter weg, ebenso Restaurants. Das Hotel hat seine guten Zeiten hinter sich und es wäre kein Fehler, es zu renovieren. Die Zimmer sind jedoch super sauber und im Bad ist eine Kosmetik-Vollausstattung. […] Kostenloses Internet. Eigentlich hatten wir vom Red Sands gar nichts Großes erwartet. Ein günstiges Motel für die Durchreise. Aber dann hat uns die Freundlichkeit des Personals sofort überzeugt. Die Zimmer sind top, es gibt einen netten Indoor-Pool, hinter dem Haus grasen Pferde. Kaffee steht rund um die Uhr für die Gäste bereit. Das Frühstück, inklusive, ist zwar wie aus […] dem Automaten und mit Pappteller und Plastikbesteck. Aber man hat dennoch das Gefühl, sehr gut untergekommen zu sein. Wir kamen am späteren Abend an und blieben auf Rundreise nur eine Nacht. Das Hotel ist recht einfach zu finden --nicht in Bicknell, sondern in Torrey. Die Besitzer sind ganz nett und liessen uns noch eine Stde. länger als gedacht den Innenpool mit Spa benutzen. Der ist auch ganz sauber und ein schönes Feature am aAbend zum Relaxen nach langer Fahrt!!! […] Frühstück ist ganz ok von der Auswahl-continental eben wie so oft in USA Motels.Wir fanden die Betten gut und würden hier gerne wieder übernachten!!!
