"Lovely lovely relaxing stay!"
This was our second stay here. Everything was as lovely as we remembered. Room was prefectly clean with large fluffy towels, robes and slippers. Large balcony overlooking the water and town. Huge breakfast buffet had lots of cheeses, grilled vegetables, fresh eggs made to order, and also delicious sweets. Amazing views. This hotel is getting an elevator […] this summer! The staff is really friendly and kind. We asked for a tour of the other rooms, and wow, all the rooms we saw had the amazing water views, balconies, unique tiles, pretty color schemes. My fiancee went for a swim (April!) in the infinity pool while I lounged. Certainly a first class property. This town is a break from the touristy noise of the other Amalfi towns. "Beautiful property with many thoughtful details"
We had the most amazing stay here. The room was superbly clean, linen sheets, large fluffy towels, Frette robes, flat screen TV with Sky satelite, WIFI and a large balcony with water views. The service was very polite, the outdoor patio with views was amazing at breakfast and in the evenings for cocktails. The infinity pool overlooked the water and […] had large towels, lovely white chairs and cocktail service. Finally, we ordered massages on our balcony, what a treat. You really should take advantage of this on your first morning and relax your way into vacation, you will not regret it. The therapist brought in the table and did a great job. The only downside to this property was the inital walk up from the main street, but they had guys to carry our luggage and after the first time, it seemed shorter and like a nice way to close out the day. In addition, we had our small dog with us and they were very kind to him, which goes a long way in our book. 100% we would recommend this hotel and plan to return. "Fantastic location and service... but those steps!"
The hotel is cut into the side of a high cliff among terraces of lemon trees and is approached by it's own funicular. It has several terraced cactus gardens and an "infinity" pool overlooking the bay. Standing on the terrace or on your balcony the views are unsurpassed. We had a very pleasant stay in the Botanico for my wife's special birthday and the […] staff couldn't do enough for us. It has an intimate, comfortable feel and breakfast on the terrace was an experience to be remembered. Our room had two French windows leading on to each side of the large wrap around balcony. Hot water is always instantly available and towels and bedding were frequently changed. The staff are obliging and helpful and every whim is attended to, sometimes before you're aware of it yourself. However, I would not recommend it for anyone with a disability or limited mobility, as above the funicular there are a further 74 steps before you reach reception. Thank goodness for the willing help with suitcases. I guess that's the price to pay for the views. The food is excellent, although the main restaurant is expensive. Food is also available on the terrace or in the hotels own pizza restaurant. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"3 night stay"
Very happy with the hotel, staff and location. Exceptional views and quality of room and service. Nice swimming pool. Only negative is trouble finding it. Hotel Botanico is halfway up a cliff with no road up. You need to go in through a road to another hotel (Pietra Di Luna) round the back of it and then take llift/funicular up to a further set of […] steps to get to reception. Havingsaid that any trouble finding it pales into insignifigance when compared to all the positives. I highly recommend this hotel Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent Hotel for luxury break"
We had a fabuluous holiday in this hotel. The staff are really helpful - especially the breakfast team who helped make our stay a really wonderful experience. The surroumdings are beautiful, infinity pool the most relaxing experience and the location is ideal for exploring the whole Amalfi coast. We would thoroughly recommend it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent hotel & location"
Perfect location to relax and enjoy the best Maiori / Amalfi coast has to offer. The staff were super friendly and always approachable. Also as everyone have already mentioned the breakfast was great. One of the few places/hotels that I would gladly return to.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lovely hotel but with some reservations"
This is a very pleasant, quiet, beautifully decorated, spotless hotel in a lovely location (up 210 steps) but I am not sure it warrants the 5 stars it professes to be. We did not eat dinner in the hotel as it is expensive and the food for breakfast was varied but the same uneaten cakes seemed to reappear for several days. Also a cooked breakfast is […] available but there is no menu and what you are offered depends on who serves you. Drinks are offered at the swimming pool but on a rather adhoc basis. Most of the staff try their utmost to please but there seems to be an overall lack of management supervision and direction particularly with regard to some of the restaurant staff who are young and inexperienced. However when we complained about the restaurant service and issues with the tap in our room which the hotel failed to repair after several requests the manager was most upset and upgraded our room and could not have done more for us. The owner owns a restaurant and hotel in the town and spends most of his time there - I think the hotel would benefit from him being around more. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stunning location, very comfortable and relaxing hotel"
11/04/14 BordersTravelling Scottish Borders
We stayed here in early October for one week and were so impressed with the location of this hotel. Stunning views, which we enjoyed both from the terrace at breakfast time, and from our private garden, adjacent to our comfortable, albeit smallish bedroom, which had an additional loft area with two additional beds, although probably of more use to a family rather than a couple. The bathroom was tiny but very well-planned with a quirky, but powerful shower. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful, from reception booking tickets and transport to a music performance in Amalfi for us to Vittorio very kindly providing us with a packed breakfast as we had to leave for the airport at 6.45 a.m. He even had a couple of very welcome cappuccinos waiting as we came downstairs! He is a great asset to the hotel and his eye for detail was meticulous at breakfast and dinner. The cliff-top gardens are wonderful, with lemon groves, incredible cactus plants and, possibly, the most beautifully located swimming-pool on the Amalfi coast. I think it is important to mention the considerable number of steps from the lift up to the entrance level of the hotel. We were not aware of these until we arrived and anyone with health issues, or infirmities would find them extremely difficult. However, if you are reasonably fit, the view is certainly worth the effort!
"Pros and cons"
10/31/14 VaterZeit Copenhagen, Denmark
This is overall a nice hotel with some clear pros: - Location is really nice: perched on a hill overlooking the sea. Maiori is a nice compromise for the Costiera Amalfitana: bigger than its neighbors and with a small beach. - Staff is very nice and helpful, and always willing to walk the extra mile for the guests. - The swimmingpool is surreal: surrounded by lemon trees, with amazing views... However, I don't think the hotel has the category it claims (and for which it charges an exhorbitant price). There are some clear cons that will make this hotel not suitable for some people: - Steps: there is an elevator that saves part of the many steps, but there are still 80 steps till reception. They should be very clear about this: older people or people with mild respiratory problems or joint problems will have a hard time climbing up. - The hotel has great grounds, but the building itself lacks infrastructure: no indoor swimming pool / gym, no decent-sized dining rooms. Result: on a rainy day, everyone was trapped inside and dinner was served in a small room, kind of crowded and not so cosy. - The restaurant is just OK. I've been to Italy many many times and whereas this restaurant is nice, especially if the weather is nice and you can enjoy the terraces, it's just not super good. The price, however, would suggest otherwise... Same for breakfast: it's just OK, nothing spectacular. - Careful with the rooms: Even rooms in the same category differ a lot from each other, due to the specific characteristics of the building. We were two couples with superior rooms, with a sea view. One couple got a small room with a VERY small bathroom (not acceptable for the price and category of the hotel) but an amazing corner-terrace overlooking the sea and mountains (although it was the first floor and it felt a bit like sharing the terrace with anyone having dinner/breakfast). We got another room in the same floor. Very big room and bathroom, but the room had no windows! It had an amazing terrace, that is true, but no windows in the room. And when we took a shower, the drain was not working properly and it flooded the whole room. They offered us to stay there for the night and change to a suite the next day... well we left the room the next morning but then had to wait until the next evening, so we were room-less for some time... and then the promised suite was a room just like the rest. Careful with terraces/balconies: they're not private for each room. Only some cacti separate you from your neighbor = no privacy! - Last: Décor. This may well be a matter of personal preference, but in my opinion they try too hard. Too many fake antiques, too much gold and silver. I would appreciate a more simple, rustic atmosphere... In conclusion: it would be very nice if it didn't pretend to be so fancy and just embraced the nice essence of Campania. It's more 4 stars than 5 stars in my opinion, and I think it's very overpriced (although I admit this is a common problem throughout Italy).
"Wow, what a place"

A simply amazing hotel. The location up on the cliffs is spectacular, with beautiful views over the coastline. Eating breakfast on the terrace looking out over the sea every morning was draw-dropping! (Prosecco also helped too). The staff couldn't have been friendlier, and made us feel so welcome with our little baby boy. Service was great at all times, without being too stuffy. The facilities are excellent, and we enjoyed going up in the funicular (note to anyone travelling with a pushchair - leave it at the bottom with the concierge). The pool has amazing views again, and the poolside service very efficient. The food was tasty, and great that you could order a cooked breakfast included in your room rate. The was a great choice of buffet items too, and the waiting staff were very attentive and extremely welcoming/friendly. Our room was tastefully decorated, with a separate mezzanine level where the baby slept. We also had a garden area on our balcony, with sun loungers and views over the sea. Felt like we had plenty of room for all our stuff with the baby. The only part of the room that needed updating was the bathroom, which was also very small. But don't let that put you off! We also really liked the location, as you're out of all the hustle and bustle of the tourist towns like Amalfi, but close enough to easily visit them with a short bus ride. The town has a nice shady promenade on the seafront, and there are plenty of good restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. All in all it was our favourite hotel of our honeymoon, and we can't wait to go back. You won't be disappointed if you stay there!
"Bella Botanico is a treasure!"

The water views are stunning and the hospitality and service are incomparable! My sisters and I enjoyed a six night stay in this lovely hotel at the end of September. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by an amazing staff including Maria Angele, Gabriele, Pasquale and Melania. Breakfasts were served on the terrace with a million dollar view by Vittorio. His service was impeccable and he made us feel that no request was too much trouble. The breakfast was one of the best we've experienced with fresh fruits and juices, pastries, meats, vegetables, cheeses, yogurts, and eggs to order. The latte macchiatos and Vittorio specials were delicious. Maori is a friendly town and it was easy to travel by bus and taxi to Ravello and Amalfi. We enjoyed two delightful boat trips to Capri and Positano from Maiori through Capone Maritime. The climb to the hotel is not for the faint of heart...after a ride in a private glass elevator guests still need to climb over 70 steps to reach the lobby. Our room was spacious, clean and we were thrilled by the amazing view from the private terrace outside our room. The infinity pool was beautiful, if a bit chilly, and we enjoyed our day and swimming at the hotel's beach club. Of special note was the invaluable assistance provided by Pasquale when Air France cancelled our departing flight to Paris. Through his valiant efforts and magic touch seats were found on another airline and we were able to continue our vacation. We cannot thank you enough! Our sojourn at the Bella Botanico is etched in our memories and we hope to return!
"First visit to Maiori"
We stayed at the Hotel Botanico in early September and would just like to echo the comments made by other guests - the hotel is gorgeous, the views are wonderful and Maiori is a quiet but very pleasant town and it still feels italian, especially in the old streets around the hotel. The breakfasts were wonderful and really set us up for the sightseeing we did. Special mention to Vittorio, he made every meal a special occasion with his wonderful sense of humour and pleasantness. He is most definitely an asset to the hotel. My partner looked forward to the surprise omelette he had almost everyday we were there!! If we return to Maiori, I would have no hesitation in staying again, despite all the steps!!
"A good choice on the Amalfi Coast"
10/09/14 laphroaiger Germany
A good hotel on the Amalfi coast. We had a junior suite, which was spacious and had a small terrace with a stunning view of the coast. Room was clean, staff was very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was really very good, served on a terrace overlooking the Amalfi coast. Maiori itself is not that crammed with tourists as are Amalfi and Positano, so it is more quiet.

Tucked into the cliff, and reached by private lift and funicular, the hotel is traditional, clean and elegant, and the views are spectacular. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served on the terrace by Vittorio , who made our stay very special. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was impeccable.Thankyou Vittorio. The breakfast itself was the best we have had in a hotel, with fresh jucies and fruit. (not tinned!) Freshly made pastries, hams, cheeses and a cooked breakfast if liked. Oh and the best coffee ever. (Should mention that this hotel is not for anyone with breathing difficulties as once you leave the funicular, you still have 77 steep steps to climb ,before reaching reception.Yes we counted them! I had pulled a muscle in my back before going and found it difficult.) Maiori is a pretty, friendly and relaxing town to stay. Lots of lovely beach bars and restaurants. It is easy to get to other towns on the Amalfi coast,by bus or boat. We loved this location.
"The town of Maiori is a hidden gem"
10/02/14 LuvSeeingNewCities San Diego, California
When we first arrived in Maiori after spending time in unbelievable Venice and spotless Positano, we were admittedly a little disappointed pulling up in Maiori. It is more rough around the edges as it is a living, working town. But after spending just a few hours walking around the town, and even more, dining at their INSANE restaurants, we were absolutely in love. Maiori ended up being one of our favorite stops on our honeymoon. Everything there is authentic Italian. From the homemade pasta at the beach side restaurants to the gelato to the local bars. They have patios at every restaurant and a band walks by, playing Italian music... I just... I can't. It was perfection. It is also the most perfect home base for discovering the Amalfi coast. The bus gets you easily to Salerno and Amalfi. From Amalfi you can catch a ferry to anywhere, even Naples. Every tour also runs from Amalfi, too and you can catch a cab/bus to Ravello (highly recommended). Amalfi is a big port where the cruise ships come in as well. Which is another reason why Maiori is awesome, it's not touristy. You feel like you discovered it. The boat charter company in Maiori is the BEST! Trips to Capri, the grotto's etc. Right from town. And finally, the Hotel Botanico San Lazzaro, the pink (seriously) 5 star resort on the hill. In this cool, authentic, local town lies a truly luxurious masterpiece. Comfortable beds, ridiculous amentities, beautiful pool, and an indescribable view. The restaurant is awesome and the service was impeccable. We loved meeting the other guests there as well. It's pricy, but frankly worth it. As we were walking up and down the boardwalk in town the day we left, we waved at many of the locals we had gotten to know throughout the trip. We love this place.

Its perched into a hill overlooking Maiori, the staff were excellent and could not have been more helpful. We looked forward to our breakfast every morning of the seven days. We chose not to have air conditioning for the first few days but after my wife suffered bites we gave in. The temperature is set at 18degrees and it was a bit like being in a wind tunnel, we had it turned off after two days but let it not deter you from staying in this hotel in a beautiful location
09/13/14 Evelyn C Belleville, Canada
This is likely the best hotel I have ever visited. It has everything- beautiful rooms, excellent food, incredible views especially from the outdoor dining area, the service is outstanding and the town of Maiori is the perfect place to stay when visiting the Amalfi coast. The owners are incredible hosts and gave us a wonderful tour of the gardens and welcomed us to their beautiful hotel as if we were friends rather than guests at their hotel. We hope to return soon.
