It was our first time at the Royal Park but second time in Kyoto. Really great location. Right off Kawaramachi on Sanjo. Lots of buses and also a very short walk to both Sanjo subway stations (just down the street on other side of bridge). Karasuma is also only 1 big ave away from Kawaramachi (Citibank is on Kawarasuma and Shijo; lots of buses stop around there too and it is very walkable to Royal Park even with a stroller). On rainy days, Teramachi (covered arcade) is also just 1/2 short block away, and leads directly to Nishiki Market. Shinshindo Boulangerie downstairs makes a great variety of delicious pastries and sandwiches for takeouts, and is a great cafe for sit down service. Hotel rooms are not big. Many face the back alley, so it was hard to tell if it's morning or not yet. Not much space to hang clothes or store bulky luggages. We traveled with a 2 year old and a stroller. It was very comfortable for all of us, but we made an effort to stay organized so our child has enough space to play.

Had a very pleasant stay at Monterey Kyoto - it's a gorgeous European styled hotel. The rooms are comfortable and relatively big by Japanese standards. Hotel staff was very helpful in showing us where to go and which bus to take. They even had bus/metro passes handy to sell, which was very convenient. Great hotel.

Very nice hotel. Rooms were on the larger side when compared with typical Japanese hotels. The front desk was very helpful and the breakfasts were good.

I liked the hotel; right next to a great shopping street. Also, not too far from some great sightseeing. I would return for my next visit.

The hotel is directly across from Kyoto Station, making it extremely convenient, especially if you have been traveling for a long time. The sign for the hotel is not large, however, but not difficult to find. The staff is polite and speaks enough English to communicate, and is very helpful with directions. Buses are available across the street to virtually any location in the area. The hotel is clean, though the rooms are small (as is typical in Japan). We were pleasantly surprised to have strong wifi in our room. We were disappointed that there was no Japanese bath.

"A clean place to sleep indoors, nothing more."
A capsule hotel is a large space of "capsules", each about the size of a large refrigerator on its side, with a mat, blanket, and pillow. It wasn't unclean, and the hotel service was fine. It's just a very small space to sleep in the company of other capsules. Location was a 20-minute walk to downtown. Was it worth 60 USD? Maybe.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Affordable but you need a bus pass"
I had some trouble finding the hotel. The location is not ideal with a 30 minute walk to the nearest subway. Still there is a bus stop nearby. Other than that, the capsule itself is OK, especially if you spend all day walking around and only want to sleep. However be warned that the showers are collective, so you might find yourself with a couple of […] naked Japanese businessmen at the end of long day. Also, two out of three toilets are Asian style however, that is normal in Japan. The people at the reception are nice and helpful. There are lots of temples nearby and the main shopping area is a 15 minutes walk. Right next to the hotel you'll find several small and cheap restaurants, as well as two small convenience stores. "Walking distance to the temples..."
Just 1 min walk by taking bus 206. The hotel is on the opposite right of the bus station. The hotel is also kind enough to check-in us earlier instead of the standard check-in time. There is no proper place to store your luggage, so don’t leave anything valuable behind until you get into the room. 秋の紅葉を京都で楽しみました。行楽シーズンは渋滞がひどく車の移動が不便なので、安く１泊できる場所を探しました。お世辞にも設備が充実しているとはいえませんが、清水寺のすぐ近くでロケーションは最高です。周辺にはいろいろなお店がありますので「寝るだけ」と割り切れれば問題ありません。ちょっと心配したお風呂もジャグジー付でしっかり暖まりました。荷物が多かったのですが、コート上着と一緒に入るやや大き目の鍵付ロッカーがあり助かりました。Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"正直、割に合わないと思う。"
京都市内に2日連続で用事があったため、京都市内で安値で泊まれるところをさがしました。このカプセルホテルの他に、ゲストハウスや、ネットカフェなども候補にいれたんですが、貴重品を持っていて、不安だったのでこちらにしました。まあ、ただの古い建物の部屋にカプセルを詰めたカプセルホテルです。全体的にくたびれた感じがします。別段いい点はありません。あの設備でカプセルホテルなのに他で見てきたカプセルホテルより結構高いです。割に合いません。京都市内だからでしょうか？京都市内のホテルは、早くとっておかないと、すぐに満室になってしまうので、そういう場合に、ここを利用するという利用の仕方が適切だと思います。Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"部屋が暑い"
10月下旬に行ったにしては暑い日でしたが、それを踏まえたとしても室内が蒸し暑かったです。換気も十分機能していないので、暑い時期の利用はお勧めできません。 場所は静かで、京都の風情も楽しめる地域なので良かったです。Genuine Expedia guest review
