The Convent Hotel is located on one of the main streets in Amsterdam and within easy walking distance to the Centraal Train station and Dam Square-so public transportation is a snap. The hotel is well kept and the staff is very friently. The one complaint about the staff is that they do not seem very knowledgeable about typical tourist activities in Amsterdam and we didn't find a concierge staff member to help with some of our questions. Our booking through hotels.com did not include the breakfast, which looked wonderful and was expensive, so we found a lovely little care within a block or two from the hotel for our breakfasts. Lots of tours seem to use the hotel, so the staff is very comfortable speaking in English with everyone.The entrance to the hotel faces the very busy street, but the rooms are all in the back of the hotel and are very quiet. We enjoyed our stay. I would suggest trying to get the breakfast included in the hotel price.

The hotel was clean, nice, the staff friendly and helpful, especially the Concierge. The location was great, within walking distance of many restaurants, and things to see in Amsterdam.

The room was very small and a bit tight for friends. It would be nice for a couple. But the room had a cozy private terrace. And the staff was wonderful! The two desk personnel we encountered were helpful, went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed for a great visit and made a point of having what we needed before we knew we needed it. The hotel was clean, the food just right and always a fresh cup of coffee waiting for us. I would return without thinking twice.

"What were they thinking"
Where to begin: Hotels.com had 27 reviews, all good. They must have been 22 to 26 years old and techno freaks. This hotel is for singles with one small bag who are impressed with electronic controls, lights that change color, and facillities that are enclosed in glass in the middle of the room. Normal traveling people, especially couples who appreciate […] privacy in the bathroom should stay elsewhere. It is not the closest hotel to Schipole and requires a 5 minute walk outside to reach. "Very clost to AMS airport--walking distance"
Everything was great about this hotel. My only complaint is that the rooms are very small but everything in them was first quality and the location is great--walking distance to the AMS airport. if it was a blowing rain you might get wet. Otherwise, you can walk mostly under cover. The price is right and for a short stay it is fine.
"Amazing Hotel"
It is designed to satisfy the artists desires in all of us. It is small, cozy, comfortable, modern, and connected. It is a 3-min-walk from the main AMS terminal. The room is 10x20 and everything within was connected to a master control pad. Everything accessible from the hotel and I will guarantee that you won't miss your flight!!!
"very annoying hotel"
It was wierd, and a teeny crowded room, but my major irritation was that I was required to pay with a credit card (cash not accepted), and then they charged me a credit card fee. Convenient to the airport, but I won't be back.

As other reviewers have written -- extremely convenient to the AMS airport, a modern, quirky hotel with 24 hour service. An excellent choice if you have an early flight from AMS. "best option"
I've stayed at various airport hotels around the world, this one is the best I've been to so far. staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel provides everything you could need so that there is no need to go elsewhere. If you do want to venture out, you can take the train from the airport and get to the downtown area within minutes.
Loved the style of this unique hotel. Great for long layovers. And very affordable.

"citizenM at Schipol, great for early am f.lights"
The location is a 3 minute walk from the terminal. Rooms are very small but uber functional and the bed is fantastic. If you arrive late and fly out early, it's a great choice. All night self -service food, bar, free wifi and movies. I'd stay again for sure!

I had never heard of Citizen M Hotels, but needed a room to get a few hours' sleep during an overnight layover in Amsterdam. The hotel is a safe and easy five minute walk from the airport, with well-marked signage. The lobby was small, but ultra modern. Check-in and check-out are self-serve, but the staff is helpful in guiding the uninitiated through […] the process. The room was small, clean and efficient, with an open floor plan (including the toilet and the shower). Most of the facilities (including the lights [which are equipped with a dimmer], the television and the blinds) can be operated with a universal remote control handset. The shower can only be activated by closing the doors which envelop the shower area--not a good choice for the claustrophobic! The bed was large and the linens soft and comfortable. The free Wi-Fi and movies were a nice perk. My stay was very restful; however, given the small size of the room and the spartan furnishings, it would not be a good place for someone who needed a place to get work done. Read more

This is definitely a super-convenient tourist hotel. But not for business travelers like me. WiFi was painfully slow, and no iron in the room made it hard to get ready for meetings the next Day.

We loved loved loved this place. We didn't want to leave. The design and layout blew our minds. It is about a two minute walk from the airport...when you leave the airport turn right and don't cross the streets. There could be a sign or two guiding you towards the hotel...the airport is awesome but so much going on that you get mesmerized and just start […] walking. We would totally recommend this place to anyone...it is a pretty progressive hotel...more should follow their example. No need to pay $$$ to stay at the sheraton or marriott. "Great value but be clear on what you are getting"
We stayed at this hotel last night and it was perfect for what we needed. Pros: Great location ... you can walk there from the airport. Clean and comfortable. Very good price. Very pleasant staff. Free Wi-Fi. Cons: Rooms are small ... shower and toilet are actually in the main part of the room. No storage space. If you just need an airport hotel […] for an overnight stay then this one is perfect. A short and easy walk from Schipol makes it very convenient and the price is great. Great place. Fun, hip, friendly, and above all helpful. Only drawback (and a big one for me) is lack of or poor soundproofing. If I'd had to stay more than a single evening, I think I would have become exhausted. Luckily I was able to sleep on the plane home.

"Perfect place"
This is the perfect place to stay when you have flights out of Schiphol. You are literally 8 walking minutes away under covered walkway to the airport. Great bed, hot food available 24 hours, computers and internet access and a fun environment.

"Economical way to stay at Schiphol"
I wanted a hotel AT the airport, but not at the price of the Sheraton. Excellent value. Loved the efficiency of check-in. The rooms do not have a lot of unused space, but I was really only interested in a good night's sleep. It was easy to walk to the hotel (no shuttle required), and it was possible to take a luggage cart, leave it at the hotel door […] and pick up another one for the return trip. I did not eat breakfast at the hotel, rather I opted to grab a bite at the airport before my flight. Also appreciated the computer center. I was able to check email and print boarding passes without even bothering to power up my own computer. I'll be back whenever I have a late arrival/early departure flight to Schipol. Read more

Stayed at this hotel for one night and walked away with many bites - those of bed bugs. When bringing this fact to the attention of the manager, she immediately dismissed the bites, saying that I must have gotten them elsewhere. ?! CitizenM is conveniently located just outside the airport terminal. It is great for an overnight stay prior to another leg of a journey. Although the room was extremely small it is very space efficient. My only complaint was that although the top sheet of the bed was clean the mattress pad/cover was covered with various sized black hairs that could […] be seen through the top sheet. It was quite disgusting. Since the windows do not open the air in the room is somewhat stale and holds the scent of the previous customer. "Just a bed to sleep while waiting for your flight"
This is a self service hotel The rooms are exactly like luxury prison cells designed with a minimalist approach. There is no reception per se just an attendent and six computers to self checkin or checkout so the process is very fast. The hotel is as close as it can get to the schiphol terminals which is great if you have to spend a night at the airport […] before your departure. The collection of movies was not good at all. I needed a toothbrush. Called the person at the front desk told me come down and i will give you one. I stayed in CitizenM Amsterdam Schiphol hotel and I had problems to sleep due to next reasons: The bed was too hard to sleep and hotel’s soundproofing is very poor - it wasn't pleasant to hear how several other guests used the toilet. If you are going to stay the night in this hotel, please take earplugs & extra mattress with you...

well, it looks nice in the lobby - but the rooms, my god.. beds are confortable, sure - but would you want to live in a container where the toilet is standing openly in the middle of the room? Sure, you can "shut" a glass-thing around the toilet, but since it's see-through.. DON*T go here if you are two people..

CitizenM is a design hotel where you find a huge bed occupying the interior of the room and with toilet and shower integrated in the room. Had an early flight out. Chused hotel due proximity to Schipol airport which is within 3 minutes walking distance. Hotel is excellent for this purpose. Moder architecture, great amenities, great room with futuristic set up. Imagine space pods like glass cylinders containing the WC and another a shower. The largest bed ever. Free VOIP phones to anywhere, […] free movies nice controls. Breakfast a bit expensive. WiFi available at no charge, computers with printers in lobby, self check in/out easy. No parking. "Really cool hotel - convenient location"
This futuristic hotel is an experience in itself. The remote control for the TV/curtains/lighting is really cool and fun to use. The beds and pillows were top notch and didn't feel old (which is surprisingly not a given in most hotels). No carpet in the room is a big plus. The location is super convenient, just a stroll away from the airport and 15 […] minutes away (we were told) from the city centre (although we were just between flights so we didn't test that claim). Rooms are very quiet despite proximity to the airport. The food/bar was a breath of fresh air compared to the usual boring offerings in hotel restaurants. The only drawback (and the reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5) was an slight unpleasant smell in the area of the toilet, which gave us the impression it might not have been cleaned properly. Also (this is not the hotels fault but still...) we had to pay a few euros more than the price hotels.com quoted us despite hotels.com's claim that all taxes were included. Handy, close to the airport, interesting concept, rooms are quite small though & bed takes about 1/2 of entire room space, but it's a very large bed! Probably a place you once have to go to.
Great place to stay one night if needed be due to an arriving or departing flight from Schipol.
