"San Pancho Treasure"
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at this unique, artistically appointed, centrally located hotel in the heart of San Pancho (San Francisco), a town located about 45 miles north of Puerto Vallarta. Our stay included a daily breakfast of fresh fruit topped with yogurt, granola and honey ("cup of life") and really great coffee. We ordered […] fresh baked scones or pancakes that were delicious. Bistro, the popular onsite restaurant, serves outstanding organic meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations might be needed for dinner. We highly recommend this boutique hotel and restaurant and getting there is easy. If you're coming from Puerto Vallarta, for a reasonable fare, you may catch a public bus across the street from the harbor where the cruise ships arrive and be in San Pancho approximately an hour later. "Cielo Rojo the place to stay"
Very clean, very friendly service, and eager to accommodate any needs. Rooms were clean and they provide ear plugs which you will need to sleep past 5am. The restaurant Bistro Organico served the highest quality food we found all week.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Staff was excellent. Room was clean and beautiful with local feel. The organic bistro serves delicious food. Our family had a wonderful experience. We only stayed one night because we had reservations at a major resort. I wish I would have booked my whole week at Cielo Rojo. I had a great experience and plan on returning. "Nice, safe hotel"
Nice quiet Inn with great food (a little pricey) but delicious. Felt very safe here. Beds were comfortable, nice showers with good water pressure. Only downside was that you couldn't get wi-fi in the rooms. Had to go out in the corridor to get online. But at least there are tables and chairs out there. Oh, and and waking up occasionally to a dog barking […] nearby in the middle of the night. The staff were all very nice and helpful, and spoke English. We would return to this hotel and recommend. "My stay at Hotel Cielo Rojo in San Pancho, Mexico"
Cielo Rojo is located in the heart of San Pancho. They provided bikes that I could borrow (did not charge for the bikes.) I enjoyed touring the beach and the town. They let me use the phone anytime, had excellent food in the restaurant; they were extremely friendly. Everyone spoke English very well and I had fun practicing my Spanish with them as well. […] The room and hotel are very quaint and nice. I had my own bathroom and they even provided me with good clean drinking water. I was impressed with the quality of service. I will tell my friends about them and would love to stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A wonderful boutique hotel"
This place is a gem in the little village of San Pancho. Some of the best Mexican food we've ever had. All organic and delicious. Fresh baked breads and pastries, the fish is fabulous and the service is wonderful. Will definitely go back!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Warm hospitality, beautiful setting"
We spent 8 nights at Cielo Rojo, and found it a pleasurable experience in every way. We were not the easiest of guests because of the special needs of my husband who has a bad back. Every one of the staff, from managers to waiters to housekeepers to the excellent chef went out of their way to make our stay there as comfortable as possible. They were […] creative and caring, finding a kind of chair my husband could sit in, providing ice on numerous occasions as well as freezing our re-usable cold pack, giving us advice about such things as how to get to other towns, where to get our hair cut, the weather, answering our many questions with patience and charm. The food was healthy and delicious, and I especially recommend the beautifully cut and presented fruit at breakfast and the whole grain toast. We happily recommend Cielo Rojo to anyone wishing for a beautiful small hotel full of art and color, and wonderful people. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice, friendly place!"
I enjoyed my 5 nights here. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the restaurant has a varied menu of interesting and delicious organic food and the rooms are comfortable. My only complaints were that the toilet seat needed to be replaced and there wasn't anywhere besides the bed to sit down. Also, and this wasn't the fault of the hotel staff, my […] room was close to the hotel entrance and I was woken up several times one night when inconsiderate guests noisily came in at late hours. The location is a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. Although, in some ways it would have been nice to be closer to the beach, I did enjoy being within the town so I could experience the local community and culture and not just have an isolated "resort" type experience. This was a very nice place with a great staff. Not all speak English, but enough that you won't be left without anything. The restaurant is good but a bit pricey, though the breakfast that comes with the room is quite tasty and healthy. Our only critic would be that the beds (our bed) was quite hard and small for two if we were to stay for more than […] two nights. Our favorite restaurant was Maria's around the corner. "charming hotel with great organic restaurant"
We had great time at the hotel and in San Pancho. Cielo Rojo is a low key place with a friendly staff and an awsome restaurant that uses fresh organic local foods. If you're looking for a big resort hotel experience then go somewhere else. It is small, about 10 rooms, and situated on a side street near the center of town. The beach is a short walk away, […] down the main drag that has many great places to eat. From nice upscale eateries to cheap street taco stands-it was all great. Very friendly with a genuine old Mexico feel. We'll be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A beautiful stay!"
We had a great stay. The food was fantastic (homemade yoghurt and granola with beautiful fresh fruit among other delicious things), the staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was quite sweet. "Hotel Cielo Rojo--artistic and homey"
This is a little family-run hotel with lots of art on the walls, little sitting areas on the landings, tiled bathrooms, and a lovely small patio restaurant on the main floor. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and the food delicious. The rooms are small but comfortable and free wireless internet is available. Friday nights are a good night […] to spend in the town since there is music, free food samples and other friendly activities along the main streets.
Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Disappointed. Avoid room next to reception!"
Simple hotel. Not expensive but I didn't expect a noisy room right next to the reception with only the basics included. You could hear everything happening outside the room and everyone talking in the reception. Not even anywhere to hang clothes in the room! When I asked to change rooms they first said that they were full. The next day they said that […] I could change but given the price I paid I would have to pay more to change - I refused. Overall very disappointed. I had reserved 4 nights. I only stayed two. I lost the money I paid for the other two nights but it was worth it to move to a much more comfortable hotel.
Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Gorgeous hotel, incredible food, superb shopping"
03/26/14 7788home Los Angeles, California
What a true gem! The most beautifully styled interiors, superb service and the very best restaurant in the area - the food is exceptional - all organic and locally sourced, created by a team in the kitchen who are extremely dedicated and creative. The chef is super talented and I hear they may open another restaurant based on the success of this one. The insider's secret is the hotel's own brand tequila. After years of research they formulated three types, all of which are outstanding. I wish I had stayed the night in one of the beautifully decorated rooms but I was staying in Sayulita nearby and arrived in the afternoon to just visit the tiny boutique I had heard about from a fashion friend in the know. I bought two gorgeous sun dresses, a handbag that I use all the time and a beautiful pair of earrings that are my absolute favourites. I met the owner, stayed for a cocktail, stayed for dinner and then she whisked me off to a local art show and charity concert in the town and had the most fun night of my entire stay! Go!!
"Relaxing, Beautiful hotel with GREAT food"
The is a lovely small boutique hotel that is exceptionally clean. They have an eye to sustainability, and offered a water container on each landing. The landings are a great place to sit outside your room. Great attention to detail. The food is also amazing, all fresh, no GMO, healthy and put together just before your got your dish. The staff including the food service staff were all friendly AND always had smiles on their faces. The dining room was definitely an oasis. Beautiful touches throughout the hotel and dining room. Very comfortable beds and enough space for your belongings.

I stayed here with a group of fellow dental hygiene students for one month last spring during our study abroad program. We could not have asked for a more wonderful stay. The hotel is beautiful and clean and I appreciated the boutique feel. You certainly aren't in a resort- and lucky for that! The staff will get to know you by name, and you them. You will begin to feel like family, or at least I did. Tips: We stayed in the palapa room on the top floor which was great- loved the authentic feel. Wear the ear plugs (they provide you with wax ones). There is a nearby goat that is very "vocal" The food in the restaurant is incredible. We loved the breakfast! Dinner was unbelievable but a bit more expensive- and there are so many places to try in town. Just make sure you have at least one dinner there! There is a mojito on the bar list- quite possibly the best drink I have ever had A big thank you to the staff who, like I said, treated us like family. I ripped a dress the first day and a member of the staff fixed it for me- and tried to do it for free! I can't wait to return!
"The best place to bring a fa"
01/02/14 Cornelia H Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
This little hotel is a gem in a gem. It's an excellently managed small oasis of style, warmth, and "sustainable" well-being in a dream-like setting: A romantic old fishing village on the lush, almost rain forest-like slopes of the south-western Mexican coast, spilling out into a perfect sandy Pacific beach cove. The village offers a mixture of authentic rural atmosphere (roosters crowing in the early morning; dogs sleeping in the midday heat) and all comfort you could wish for: Excellent restaurants, picturesque shops, and taxis, when you need them. The hotel cuisine of Cielo Rojo itself is too good to be true. For our various family members we need vegetarian, gluten-free, and for all of us preferably organic. We would never have expected this in a little Mexican village. My only regret: I forgot to buy some of the hand-crafted soap!
"The best little Hotel in SanPancho!"
01/01/14 Ann K Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
or anywhere else for that matter..... We stayed there for too short at the end of our holiday. The perfect little boutique hotel. The owner has an excellent eye for details. The rooms are just right down to the bottled water container that you use to get the water yourself on the exquisite landing with local artwork, open to the outdoors. Feels traditional Mexican with an eclectic modern sensibility. It is obvious the the owner loves this spot and it is reflected in her collections of art and memorabilia. Not much you could improve upon here. Perhaps a little less restricted of what is in the included in the breakfast package: jam and toast perhaps? The courtyard is soothing with some of the best food I have ever had. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. It is in the heart of SanPancho but on a side street so it is quiet.

The food at Hotel Cielo Rojo is delicious, fresh and thoughtfully presented. The decor is warm and welcoming. The staff were friendly and knowledgable and they provided excellent service. I will definitely return on my next trip to San Pancho (Francisco).
"Wonderful hotel in a great town."
11/14/13 R H Seattle, Washington
We just returned home after 5 nights at Hotel Cielo Rojo. This was our second visit, and we liked it just as much as we did on our first trip in 2010. Cielo Rojo has lovely rooms, great ambiance, and delicious food in their restaurant, Bistro Organico. All of the staff are helpful, friendly, and willing to answer any questions about San Pancho. Like most of San Pancho, Cielo Rojo is only a few blocks from the beach. If you're headed to the beach, ask to borrow one of their beach umbrellas. If ambient noise keeps you from sleeping, bring earplugs. Cielo Rojo is located in the heart of San Pancho, so noise sometimes filters into your room. We enjoyed this as part of the atmosphere. A small, low-key, beach town near busy Sayulita, San Pancho has a wide, almost empty beach and beautiful sunsets. Nearly everyone in town gathers at the beach to watch the spectacular sunsets. The waves at San Pancho's beach can be large, so it might not be the best spot for families with children. But the town is very friendly, with lots of inexpensive restaurants.
"Great staff and amazing food"
11/10/13 Kalamaya Carbondale, Colorado
The staff here are friendly and helpful in giving out recommendations on other places to eat and things to do. The included breakfast was perfect to start each day. We had dinner here one night and it didn't disappoint. They offer beach cruisers to bike around town and down to the beach. It is a little noisy early and late - but it's Mexico! We'd definitely come back again.
11/07/13 Zen_Dark_30 Portland, Oregon
Be sure to try Calixto's banana pancakes along with a cup of health. They are a great combo for starting each day. San Pancho is a nice quiet community and much different than her sister community, Salyuita. We enjoyed waking up to roosters. The beaches are almost deserted. The water is warm and good for surfing. Birding is a growing industry here and Luis Morales is a solo operator introducing people to the birds of San Pancho. He's also gained a lot of support for his bird conservatory. Support conservation by taking a bird tour. He offers half days and full days. Luis knows a lot about the area and adds the cultural history in his tours. Apparently, San Pancho has grown enough to support 14 new restaurants. Lots of good choices.
"Friendly, helpful staff and a sweet room in a nice, little town"
10/11/13 Dannybobanny Corvallis, Oregon, United States
I read the reviews and gave it a try. Before coming down, I contacted the hotel w/ a question about transport from PV. Marcelo, the manager, responded promptly w/ an informative email. I got there and the staff was friendly and helpful, the place tranquil, and my room attractive and comfortable. These guys hooked it up w/ info, calling cabs, etc. I swooped on a low season deal and the place was very quiet - like having the house all to myself.
