We have stayed at this hotel previously in addition to this year's visit.. It appears that the owner's have not really sunk a lot of extra money into the hotel. We were told that it is not going to remain under present ownership. It appeared some outdoor building maintenance has been deferred. be very careful if traveling to this hotel at night using a gps - it will not know the address and will direct you along scary dirt roads in deserted areas. Once we got there, the hotel and the people were lovely.

It worked for us. We needed a 2-day base from which to ride Cabot Trail. Even though the resort is remote, each turn to the hotel was well marked with large signs. We stayed in a cabin that was smaller than we expected but clean and comfortable. We only needed a bed and bathroom for 2 nights. Internet access was not available in the cabin; but was available […] in the main lobby. Our TV didn't work - perhaps the overcast, rainy weather - and the bed was only a double. On the bright side, the people were very friendly, the on site restaurant was wonderful, the bed was comfortable and the remoteness of the resort would be very restful if that is what you are looking for... "Off the beaten path" but I found the route from Hwy 105 to be clearly marked with signs. There are no services or restaurants anywhere near the hotel. I arrived a little before 6PM and the desk clerk quickly called the clubhouse restaurant to make sure they stayed open for me! The Dundee Resort grounds were beautiful and the rooms large, very clean, and with super comfortable beds. The restaurant was reasonably priced and the food good but the hours of service were limited. One could not get dinner or any food on the weeknights we were there until 6:00 pm. This was a bit of a problem as there is nothing else anywhere near […] the Resort. The only big negative is just that...you are 20 km away from any kind of civilization other than the resort. The roads are very small, rough, and without the Resort's signs along the way, you would never be able to find it. We enjoyed our stay there as the room was so comfortable, the balcony small but with a very nice view, and the entire Resort was spotless. It is a lovely place but it is very, very remote. It is in the middle of nowhere. Limited rooms with nice view. Small swimming pool which would be the only activity apart from golf. Limited menu in dining room and food is not impressive. However service is good.

Although the setting of this location was quite beautiful. The signage wasn't the greatest and we missed finding it about three times. The hotel was understaffed and we didn't eat there much because we found ourselves waiting around and no one even acknowledged us..The room itself was very clean and comfortable, and the views were wonderful.

Just getting to this property was tricky as road signs need tobe better marked. The room condition was "stinky" and the restaurant staff and the front desk staff were helpful and friendly. More suited for families with teenage children. Rec. staff too involved with spending time with visiting friends then with patrons.

We loved our stay, once we arrived there. We were using our GPS and it kept us going in circles, and we could not find the Dundee Resort. The moral of this story is, Don't Try to Use GPS in Cape Breton!!! It doesn't work. Now, if you use the paper map, you will find Dundee in a minute. Once we arrived there, we found our room to be spacious and loved […] the door to the terrace. We had a beautiful view of Bras D'Or Lake from our patio. It was too bad the rain was stopping us from sitting outside, but it didn't stop me from taking lots of photos, and it didn't stop us from having a nice dinner up at the Clubhouse. They were great up there and gave us lots of information about Cape Breton. We would definitely come back and stay at Dundee. We are not golfers, but the resort is very nice. We chose this Resort for its location half way between 2 events we were attending. It is off the main highways and our GPS got us lost a couple of times. The Resort was good but showed wear and tear in places. Basic accomodations - comfy. The one breakfast we had was good.

I was disappointed when we arrived. We had booked a cottage. I was advised that there was a problem with my reservation when I booked online and that a cottage was not available. I thought they would have tried to contact me, for I had booked well enough in advance. They did, however, give me a free upgrade on my room to a kingsize bed with a jacuzzi […] tub. The condition of the rooms were very dated or just plain tired. The wireless internet was extremely frustrating, being very slow & having a lost connection multiple times. I thought this motel was very over rated, I think a rating of 2 would be generous.

We really enjoyed our stay at Dundee Resort. The people were very friendly, the restaurant was good, if a little pricey. We don't golf but if you do, this would be a real gem of a place. Got a very reasonable rate through hotel.com for the main house.

This was quite a different experience for me, especially for a business stay. The place was situated in a remote part of Cape Breton - for e.g. the hotel said there was wireless signal but we were too remote to pick up one. At the time of our stay there was a large amount of kids at the hotel. Which means that the pool was busy and crowed for the indoor one. The hours were from 7am to 10pm but we noticed that "adult swimming" was from 9pm to 10pm. So we came back at 9pm and found that there was still kids in the pool that were jumping in splashing around and the pool was […] not that big in the first place. So we waited 10mins and the kids and parents still did not leave. At 10:20 I went out and asked if the hotel enforced the "adult swimming" time and they said no. Which made us annoyed and wondering why if they had that rule. If you have a rule like that so every age group can enjoy the pool they should enforce it. Read more

Well, the GPS got us there easily enough and we were very happy to stay in the main building. Scenery was lush, green, and everything you might expect a resort to be. We were on vacation with another couple (family) and initially our room had a musty smell. When we checked out their room it had not smell and had hardwood floor compared to our carpet […] (perhaps the two are related). We enquired and were given another room that suited us fine. We were able to get an internet connection but just barely. The restaurant was great but somewhat pricey. Mussels were tasty as was everything else on the limited menu. We went for a drink later and were treated to the good-sounding vocals and guitar-work of Rob McDonald (Bose PA and Taylor guitar-equipped). The bartender seemed not to be a happy guy but c'est la vie. We would have liked to stay at Dundee longer but were booked in Cheticamp (Albert's Motel...highly recommended but watch the shower pressure!) the next night. Read more

Dundee is nice, though not a luxury resort. Some minor changes (eg, fresh paint in places, availability of mini fridges in rooms, newer playground equipment) would make it a more attractive place, but it was great for us.  We stayed in the hotel & the accommodations were good (two queen beds in our room, table and chairs, nice shower). The grounds around […] the hotel are nice, and there is a large deck to relax on that overlooks the lake. We were on the ground floor so didn't have a balcony, but we did have a step out space with a couple chairs from which we could see the lake. The lake is a short walk from the hotel & there is a boathouse there with helpful staff. Water trampoline, paddle boats, kayaks were all available (at a cost) & for the kids they also had beach toys & rock painting & some other things like that. There wasn't a lot of sand on the beach, but it is a relaxing environment. We also enjoyed walking partway along the hiking trail that goes around the golf course. Bonfires at night with marshmallows to roast were a hit with the kids. We swam in the lake & also in the indoor pool (a wading pool & a regular pool); there is also an outdoor pool. We have two young children & the staff were very helpful & child-friendly. The wireless internet went down shortly after we arrived & no one seemed to know how to fix that. A minor inconvenience; when I needed to check email, the front desk staff turned their monitor around to face me & let me use their computer to do so. Read more
