Butterfly on Morrison - Hong Kong

Very Clean and well kept hotel. The rooms were a little small but that's what's to exspect when you're in Hong Kong. Getting there was a little difficult to find, but was well worth the trip through the maze of the city streets. Wonderful staff, very helpful, nice quiet hotel and if I had the chance to go again, this where I would probably stay.

Butterfly is a small hotel with charm. My room was small but well laid out. Everything worked well including wireless wi fi. There is no breakfast restaurant in the hotel but there are lots of places nearby. And the trolley is only steps away. I will try another Butterfly (there are five in HK) on my next trip.

Staying in a box on the street would have been aboutthe same. But the beautiful hotel for the same price helped me with my luggage to the airport. First impression: hotel is not in a good location. It seemed very quiet on that street and far away from civilization. Granted, this was late on a Sat. night. They were both cheerful and helpful- this included the front desk, the concierge, and the cleaning people. The location was great to go to both Times Square and WanChai. If your staying for pleasure like us, not a good choice. If it's just for business, then it'll do. First of all, they gave me one bed when i asked for three. They were good enough to get me another room with at least two beds. But I noticed that all the rooms have glass sliding doors completely surrounding the bathrooms (I had a friend with yet another […] room that was the same). That is to say that you can see into the bathroom at all times... so no privacy there. You need key cards just to use the elevator. Kind of annoying. the restaurant downstairs was completely unsatisfying. Being american, the straight up chinese cuisine was a way too crazy for me and my friends. I've spent years living in Japan and eating asian cuisine. If you try it, trust me, Im not just being stuck up, it was not satisfying at all. We went out again immediately afterwards. Not to mention we waited forever before anyone came near us to take our order, then again to let us pay so we could leave. no pool, no gym, and a significant cost to extend our checkout time past noon. for what I paid, seriously lacking for sure. A taxi to the fun stuff was very cheap though, so the placement was good, right there in Wan Chai. There was also a great shopping mall right across the street. The staff at this hotel is outstanding. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The rooms are small, which is to be expected in a big city at a hotel in this price range. Our bed was pushed up against the wall, which again is to be expected, but causes no real inconvenience. A great place!

This hotel is ok but not great. It's full of value-minded tourists who are prone to ask where you're from when they meet you in the elevator. Not having any place for a cab or shuttle bus to park is a huge negative and it's also very inconvenient not to have a real restaurant on site. I checked in late in the evening and the staff upgraded my room. The room is more spacious but it is not as clean and fresh as I would like it to be. Are the rooms small? You bet. But they make great use of the space, are very modern, and the location and price are pretty great if you want to be in the middle of things on Hong Kong Island. It's hard to go wrong here, in my opinion.

The hotel was very nice, clean and the proper price. One complaint I have though would be the awkward bathroom in the two-bedroom room. The toilet and shower are behind a clear glass door and this can be a little awkward if you're traveling with a friend.

Butterfly on Morrison is very conveniently located near all kinds of local eateries, a public wet market, and walking distance to Time Square and Causeway Bay shopping areas. Airport bus stop is about 4 blocks away, and a large # of bus routes, the tram, and subway run right in front or a few blocks away. The hotel's design is modern and room layout […] is unique. The room (Deluxe double) is not large, by U. S. standards, but feels plenty roomy because of the half oval layout. Views from our upper floor room is lovely, one side looks towards Victoria Peak and the high rises of Central. There's even a sliver of the harbor visible between buildings from the other side. Other nice amenities we appreciate: strong water pressure, thick bath sheets, thick curtains to block out light. We will stay at this hotel again the next time we visit Hong Kong and will recommend it to friends and family. Read more

For HKG, the space in the room was average, meaning small, but I was on 21st floor with amazing views. The wireless worked well and the shower was excellent. I grew to like the location a lot too since it is only a block away from a food market area with many vendors selling fruit, fish (live), meats, etc, and Time Square/Causeway Bay MTR entrance also […] a short walk. Hennessy trolly/bus too. Of course my trip was literally ruined when I hit my toe on the leg of the bed and broke a toe! My main activity is dance and this was worst injury ever. The carpet is dark, and the legs of the furniture are chrome - reflecting the dark carpet and disappearing. Light level low too unless you put on the bright florescent lights. A friend stopped by and stubbed her toes on the chair leg in minutes. (Tight corners in room also contribute to this). Staff is only passable. I got the "blank stare" when I told them about my toe and simple things like borrowing an umbrella seemed complicated. They don't answer the phone and the web site has NO contact form or info. Arrived around noon to check-in and requested a higher floor. They informed us that it wouldn't be available until 2pm so we walked around town in the meantime. When we got back at 2, we were sent to a room with two single beds instead of a double bed. Had to go back to the lobby (3rd floor) and they apologized for the mistake and gave us an upgrade […] to a deluxe room, which was much more roomier. Requested extra towels the first night and it never came. Carpet was in decent shape but underneath the bed you could tell that it was pretty dirty. The Butterfly can be hard to locate for taxis, so bring a map and pay attention along the way. Essentially it is on the eastern side of Morrison Hotel, on the left when going up the hill. The lobby is a minimilistic concierge/door-man and 2 elevators up. Check-in is on an upper floor. It is a tall, narrow buidling with great views of the cricket field, […] race track and Hong Kong from many directions. I loved the views. The rooms are smallish, typical of HK, but quite ergonomic. The modern bath was a treat. It is a reasonable walk down to the Times Square shopping mall that has some higher end restaurants on the upper floors. It is a further walk down the hill towards the main drag of bars/restaurants that are infamous in Wan Chai (Hennessy/Lockhart). One of the nearer MTR metro stops is located down there along Hennessy. Most people may prefer a short taxi to get there. I would willingly be a repeat customer for the price, location and view. There is no room service, but plenty to eat outside and near a market for fresh fruit. Read more

Butterfly on Morrison Hill is a good value for the location and what you get. The service is polite and professional, the rooms very clean. The location is convenient, as well. The Wan Chai underground station is 5-7 minutes away by foot. Service was prompt and courteous.
