About 20-30 minutes and $30 from airport. Hotels.com provides nice translation for reservation page. This was actually useful, as night desk clerk spoke very little English. Would have been useful to also have the hotel address presented in Chinese characters, because taxi driver did not speak English and did not know location of hotel. Hotel patrons seemed predominantly Japanese; the night and morning desk clerks spoke minimal English but managed to communicate what was necessary. Knocked a point off comfort because shower is for people shorter than about 5'8". There seemed to be few eating options immediately around hotel and we were too late to venture off toward the temple. It was a very convenient clean hotel near the airport. The only consideration is that their airport bus leaves every half hour starting at 6:40 am and only seats 18. The trip takes about 1/2 hour. So plan accordingly. It's very nice to be able to leave the hotel and have local food options.

We spent the night at The Richmond because another review said it was close to a mall. It's a bus ride to the mall, but there is a very quaint shopping street on the way to the shrine nearby. Turned out to be a great small town experience. The rooms are small but very clean and well designed.

I spent one night at Richmond Hotel Narita and found it to be quite satisfactory. The hotel is close to Keisei-Narita Station, which Is only a 10-minute ride from Narita Airport via the Keisei limited express train (not the Skyliner). Someone carrying a lot of luggage may find the location unsatisfactory as it requires hauling your luggage down a considerable […] number of stairs. Such great attention to detail. My only warning is about the shuttle service. Just take the train and walk down, print google map directions and its easy. I was catching a connecting flight back to Los Angeles and needed a comfortable, convenient hotel near the Narita airport. It was my first trip to Narita so I was unfamiliar with the airport and surrounding area, not to mention I am a mature female traveling alone and don't speak the language. Initially I was under the impression that the Richmond was within walking distance from the airport so when the taxi seemed to be driving a fair distance I started to get a little nervous until he dropped me off at the hotel. The check in was very easy.Then once I got to the room I was utterly, pleasantly surprised. Everything was so compact and inviting.....from the slippers, the freshening spray for my clothes and the pajamas laid out on the bed, I found the room very efficient and comfortable. There were several jacks to accomodate American plugs and a phone charger. Even though my room was above the main road, I couldn't hear any outside traffic and the black out curtains were incredibly effective. I also got room service from the restaurant in the lobby and was again pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. In conclusion, my experience far exceeded my expectations. The only caveat I will add is that everything is on the small side. I think a large person might feel cramped and not be able to move about in the bathroom very easily. Read more

I had to spend one night on my way to Jakarta, and I'm glad I chose Richmond. Although the "free shuttle" is really for going to the airport (not going to the hotel), it was easy to take a train from the airport and walk to the hotel. We arrived in Narita at 7pm and needed a place to stay the night before starting our trip properly. While the room was small, everything was tidy and I never heard a thing out the window or from the neighboring rooms. Desk service was impeccable. The neighborhood is nothing special, but no one goes to Narita for the scenery anyway. We booked the hotel as an easy place to stay on our last night in Japan before flying out from Narita airport the next day, and it succeeded as a low-stress, relatively inexpensive accommodation. It is conveniently located close to the airport, making it a great place to stay. Be aware that the shuttle service from Narita Airport is very limited and if your flight arrives in the afternoon you're basically out of luck. The room was spotless, the service staff was very helpful and spoke English. I would stay there again if I were in the area.

I had a very pleasant stay at this new, modern, clean, reasonably price, and conveniently located hotel. Staff was friendly, professional, and helpful. The downtown Tokyo is an 1.5-hr train ride from nearby stations, just a five-min walk to both. Free shuttle to the Narita Airport was another plus. Highly recommended!

This is the third time I have stayed at the Richmond, and I finitely rate it well above any of the other hotels in the Narita area. It is located 5 minutes from the Keisei line station in Narita City, with direct trains to Tokyo as well as to Narita airport (one stop to the airport). The JR line is another 5 minutes beyond the Keisei lLine station. […] The hotel is only a few years old and is impeccable. Stayed in a double room this time, and the room was significantly larger than the single rooms (which tend to be similar in size to most Japanese business hotels). The double room was very comfortable and clean, the hotel is aesthetically pleasing, it has laundries available to guests on two separate floors. The hotel has a free airport shuttle bus until early afternoon. They now have wifi available, as well as the BBC on TV - these are new and welcome. Above all, the staff were excellent. The hotel was nice and convenient for an early flight out. However, the surrounding area was not very nice. It was a bot run down and the roaming prostitutes did not add much to the ambiance. Also, the limited times that the hotel shuttle was available is not very convenient either.

Hotel was convenient to the private rail line into Narita and not that far from the JR line - both easily walkable. We were able to take their shuttle to the airport on the morning of our flight. We thought it was a "stone's throw" from the rail station, but it was a real hike to get there. We could see it, and we thought it was just "down hill from the station", but as we towed our luggage along the footpath we lost sight of it and feared we were lost. We didn't know there are two rail stations in Narita, the other being closer to this hotel. If […] you arrive at the JR station, come out and turn right, heading for the other rail station. Find the long set of stairs going down (an escalator is available for the uphill return), then turn left, pass the mini-mart and find the Richmond on your right. The stairs are not easy if you have a lot of baggage. If you take the main road down hill from the JR station, keep going until you get to the bottom, cross the street and find the Richmond on your left. The check-in desk is small, but the staff were efficient. Book your seats on the airport shuttle as you check in -- the min-bus fills up fast. The hotel is very low price, and very high value. It is clean, good furniture, bedding, and fixtures, good air quality, good bathroom, huge TV (but no English channels unless you can get BBC to work), free wired internet. It was a very comfortable last night in Japan. The location is a bit removed from the main part of town. All the restaurants are near the two rail stations, way up hill from the Richmond. However, it's a short flat walk to the escalator going up. Find it at the bottom of the APA hotel building. Read more
