Room type request was unfulfilled, but we did book late so I can't blame the hotel for that. The room was pretty grotty particularly the carpet in the corners. Bathroom was of average cleanliness. Friendly and helpful staff and a well furnished room but noisy guests upstairs, and old wooden walls and floors - plus noisy bars nearby throwing out glass bottles - meant a disturbed nights sleep

While the clerk was polite and helpful, hotel policy insisted on us writing down our credit card number as a deposit. Only other option was a cash deposit. Rooms were OK, but the windows and curtains were in such bad repair, it's a noisy and uncomfortable night's sleep.

My partner booked this hotel for myself and my children to stay in for a few days during the half term break. We thought it would be nice being close to the seafront, but what they don't tell you is that there is a nightclub in the basement of the hotel, construction going on inside it, and while we were there was surrounded by drunken people and others […] smoking cannabis on the street in the general area and outside the scummy looking casino next door. Although the staff were friendly, they did not listen to my advanced request when I rang about having an accessible room for my buggy to get in, as well as my physical disability. We went in the lift and had to then go through three sets of 4 steps in the corridor just to get to the room. This was a nightmare for me, and very painful since I have a problem with stairs. The radiator broke and made just about everything melt in the room on the first night. We were given a fan, but that still meant no sleep, there were too many drunken people yelling outside to be able to open the window, and the baby's travel cot was under the drafty window so couldn't use that. The second night we were disturbed and woken up all evening and night by drunken people knocking on the door, one at 1:17am who tried bashing the door down and too intoxicated to listen to reason. I then stayed up the rest of the night ready to protect my children, and due to the age of the building and laminate floors, I had to listen to people procreating in surrounding rooms. The room itself was nice and clean, and the bathroom lovely, however that all meant nothing when I was packing everything to leave and saw old bloodstains on two of the sheets. My stay was to put it nicely, horrible. I went to Brighton to get away for a few days, to see a friend, and give my boys a treat! It was ideally located for the town. The hotel are currently refurbishing the rooms and the bathrooms are lovely. Due to the laminate fllors could hear the people upstairs walking around all night!!! But would recommend and use again myself

The West Beach hotel was very well located and the car park nearby was not too expensive. Although in need of some modernisation and maintenance the rooms were clean. A good budget stay.

we had read a few reviews and were worried the place would be awful, but it was fine. The bathrooms were really nice and the rooms had recenlty been refurbed and were clean and comfortable. Very good value for money. Only complaints were a slightly dodgy lift and a bit of road noise.
