"Bad time of season."
Do to the bad time of season, very few people were at the resort. Because of this, there was a very limited number of bars and restaurants open. This coupled with a reduced staff, made for a less then good vacation.Genuine Expedia guest review

I booked a room with a king size bed but got 2 queen's. I checked in after 6 pm and though it was to late to have it changed that night but the customer service girl that works the night had me in a room 4 floors up with a better view and a king size bed in less than 15 min. Well when I first got there the suites were all booked I paid more money to stay in the Suites for nothing!! They said they would have me in a Suite by Monday as Anthony said from the front desk... he was no help!! "Musty, Smelly and Not upto the mark"
The room was very pretty But it was musty and smelley. No proper maintenance and it was supposed to be a new block. We already mentioned we were coming with a three year old. "Close to Beach"
Booked suite and received a regular room that was called a suite because its in the same building (Presidential Suites) was not worth the stay at all. Checked in, late afternoon and the room wasn't completed by housekeeping. Bed not made, wall lamp hanging off and the security safe needed new batteries. When i called the front desk, i was informed a […] staff member will come to the room. We waited 85 minutes and then called again, same thing repeated after 40 min took the walk to the front desk, (its a long one from the Presidential Suites). The front desk staff told us housekeeping is waiting for us at our room. We went back, no one there, we gave up after I called and asked for a Manager and was informed the Manager is not available. The next morning tried again, security came and informed me the safe is no good they would have to change it (I would have to wait) The cleaning problem would have to taken care of Housekeeping and the wall lamp by the engineers but we would have to be in the room for this to all happen. We laughed and went back to the front desk and asked for a manager. Again i was informed a manager is not available. I went back to the room, placed a DND sign on the door and left. I was there on 8/16 for a wedding. The wait to check in was over an hour and 1/2 and the line never moved. I was able to check in and pay before 3 but could not get a room. The wedding was at 4:30. At 2:30 I was back in line trying to get my room key. By 3 I was told my room would not be ready for another hour. I explained I needed a room because I had to get ready for a wedding. The staff did not seem to care in the least. I as well as 2 other guests who could not get their keys either ended up getting ready in the bathroom of the lobby. I never was able to get my room. I tried to get a refund and they were not helpful at all. Many of the guests were in rooms that were the worst I have ever seen. No air conditioning, the doors would not lock, the bathroom was filthy. I have stayed in fancy hotels and not so fancy. This was by far the worst. If I could give this negative points I would. DO NOT STAY there it was absolutely horrendous.

I was kind of skeptical going to this place since I got and exceptionally great rate for my stay. Got there and there was and issue with them finding my reservation. I understood that I only made a reservation two hours before, but it was a hassle to get them to check me in. After the ordeal however, they made me feel at home by seating me down and going over the how to get around the resort, the activities and restaurants available to me and to my surprise they bought me a drink. If you are expecting a 5 star hotel then this would not meet your expectation. The room was showing its age,and needed updating, couldn't adjust the airconditioning because it was pretty must set, but the room temperature was bearable enough for me. As as for me a single male travelling by myself it was totally fine especially since I was out of the room for most of the day. The best part of my stay was the entertainment and activities that the hotel provided. The entertainment team consisting of Clara (Tuti Fruity), Janeah, Ricky and other were very energetic, hilarious and kept the beat going, They hosted activites (volleyball, borche ball, horse shoe, salsa, bachata and merengue basic lessons among other inventive games). I got a certificate of participation pretty much every night for participating in activities and I even got a bottle of rum for winning more that one activity At night after dinner, there was always something going on like circus night, carnival night and the perfect couples night (i was in stitched and couldn't help myself) and once that part was done the party continued at the discotec across the street. The food was ok, but I would of liked to have local Dominican or even more latino foods. Just seem like it was mostly American food which I would prefer not to have on vacation. The electricity went out the first night that I was there and the water went out for a couple hours another day and it sucks to have to pay for internet for such a big resort. The pools and the beautiful and pristine beach totally made up for some of these downers though. Overall I had a great experience with no regrets. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and i'm looking forward to going back again shortly. Hopefully Clara, Janeah, Ricky and the rest of the entertainment team are still around when I get there!!!

We were here from 20th of august trough 23th of august 2014. I have read some reviews and was thinking that it can't be that bad. O was i wrong!!!!!! When we arrived at the hotel it was as if you need them and they don't need you!!! The service is horrible and as others has stated the air conditioning is a one setting for all situation. At first it was only hot and at around 4 to 5 a.m.began to get a little bit cold. I asked and asked but nobody can do nothing about it because it's only on setting for all and take it or leave it. The 3 restaurants are not bad if you can get a chance to get in one of them!!!. tables are limited. You have to get up at 7 to 730 to go down and reserve a spot at the restaurant or forget-it you'll be eating a very low budget Dominican food buffet. What you see as advertisement is not what you get. The nice tippi bar on top of the sea is not free it's a paid restaurant. Not bad but at least tell tourists in advance. The Dominican show is good to see. The snacks are a raw hamburger and fries or a hot-dog at the beach bar. If i had known all these issues i have gone to The Barcelo Hotels where i at least get some service. There is no other type of attraction you can go to besides a Ole Supermarket( $45 to 50 dollars rip off ). To go to Santo Domingo were there's something to do will cost you about $70 to 80 dollars. The only thing what was nice was the balcony of the beach side and the beach. The pool pumps are not circulating the water at all so it looks like a dirty pool. I have been quit a bit to the Dominican republic my wife is Dominican but even she was surprised this time with the bad service and food beside the restaurants that you have to get up early to reserve as mentioned. If you go down at about 9 to 9.30 forget it. One thing i know for sure is that i'll be staying somewhere else next time. I rather advice you to go to Punta Cana, Puerto Plata or Santo Domingo where there's more to do.

Hotel was out dated it needs major upgrades. But overall the hotel is ok, check in was slow. I did however in counter a problem with the room I requested was not give to me. I was ready to leave. I than spoke to Nikel Lendor the Reception manager at the hotel explained the problem that happened to me. He said let me help you, with in matter of 5-10 minutes. He came back to me and said I have another room available for you. We took the room. Also the staff members that took care of my son were great, Baby Blue ,Cavi Chopi, Animacion, Keila, Tuti Fruiti. needed to lay over a night, made a reservation on hotels.com. Got to the front desk had a confirmation number was told the could not find it. Showed them the email from hotels.com the confirmation email and my debit from my account at citibank. I 112 dollar room, they charged me 300 usd at check out and swiped my card for 148 usd at check in and tried four more unsuccessful attempts. Had to pay 300 on a different card to get my car out of the garage my first card would not work cit fraud put a hold on it. Also have been disputing it and they never answer the phone and if they do they say that you have to talk with reservations, and to top it off hotels.com doesn't have an answer for me, there customer service keeps saying the will call or email me within 72 hours. Called them three times gave up on them to. In closing this is a 2 star hotel at best.

When my husband and I arrived we were given a room with two beds; however I went downstairs and Pio changed out room to a king bed as I had requested. Whenever my husband and I had and issue he was sure to fix it. Paola was also very helpful. The air conditioner did not work but they tried to fix it. The snacks could have a better selection. I did not like how the Guest Services employee, Carmen, did not know anything about the activities or locations of things on the resort. She sat around and gave inaccurate information. I called and asked her about the baySPA and she knew nothing about it. When I went downstairs she had brochures right in front of her face. She was just lazy! When I called the baySPA about the couples massage they told me it was $140 when in reality it was $100. Didn't like how they tried to fool me like that. Aside from those little details my husband and I enjoyed ourselves. We met great people and the staff was wonderful. I have stayed at better places here in the states but our cultures and quality of life are different so for the area it was a great resort. I will be returning and bringing our three children along!

First time I went with my brother who has a time share on this God awful place was terrible. Just went with my sister and was MUCH worst than FIRST time. Moldy room, bad food, flies and mosquitos in Dinning Room which was the auditorium cause they're remodeling the dinning hall and kitchen. Feral cats in dinning hall and others restaurants. Really old and raggedy towels, saving money by not replenishing the room refrigerator. Entertainers are so over worked and under paid they sometimes behave like they work on a strip joint. Please watch yourself with the beach and night competition games they get carry away and people get injuries.

Stood at this resort 07/16-21 and I have to say it was the worst resort I have ever stood at and I will not recommend this resort to anyone. The rooms are filthy, No doors on bathrooms, leaks, AC doesn't work, food is terrible, service is awful and staff are rude. This resort needs to be shut down.
