"Customer service girl was the best!"
I booked a room with a king size bed but got 2 queen's. I checked in after 6 pm and though it was to late to have it changed that night but the customer service girl that works the night had me in a room 4 floors up with a better view and a king size bed in less than 15 min. She also helped me with getting my laundry picked up, reservation's , and directions […] to 3 of the many restaurants. She would greet me with a charming personality asking if there was any thing I needed. She made the whole experience special. THANK YOU! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very dissatisfied about what we experienced!!"
Will make it brief. The experience that my husband and I had was awful. We had to be changed to four different rooms within 2 days if being there. We will not go or refer anyone there ever!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
Well when I first got there the suites were all booked I paid more money to stay in the Suites for nothing!! They said they would have me in a Suite by Monday as Anthony said from the front desk... he was no help!! Well Monday came and I went to look at the suite and I did not like it they gave me a dingy room with no view no balcony with a ugly street […] view. My husband said we were staying in the room we already have because it was much nicer and this room had been recently been renovated it looks like the picture with the two beds The room I was in was way better than the Suite it was in the main bldg 407 double bed huge bathroom I was right in front of the pool and the beach. housekeping did a great job with cleaning the room and I always had towels. "Musty, Smelly and Not upto the mark"
The room was very pretty But it was musty and smelley. No proper maintenance and it was supposed to be a new block. We already mentioned we were coming with a three year old. Yet we were far away from the lobby and dining area. The only good thing was that we had direct access to the beach. The food and drinks were good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel is right on the beach"
Overall the hotel was okay. However, the service was not good. I asked for a clean towel; an hour later I still didn't get any towel. I went to the front desk to talk to them personally. I checked out a few hours later and I didn't see a clean towel.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Close to Beach"
Booked suite and received a regular room that was called a suite because its in the same building (Presidential Suites) was not worth the stay at all. Checked in, late afternoon and the room wasn't completed by housekeeping. Bed not made, wall lamp hanging off and the security safe needed new batteries. When i called the front desk, i was informed a […] staff member will come to the room. We waited 85 minutes and then called again, same thing repeated after 40 min took the walk to the front desk, (its a long one from the Presidential Suites). The front desk staff told us housekeeping is waiting for us at our room. We went back, no one there, we gave up after I called and asked for a Manager and was informed the Manager is not available. The next morning tried again, security came and informed me the safe is no good they would have to change it (I would have to wait) The cleaning problem would have to taken care of Housekeeping and the wall lamp by the engineers but we would have to be in the room for this to all happen. We laughed and went back to the front desk and asked for a manager. Again i was informed a manager is not available. I went back to the room, placed a DND sign on the door and left. I DONT recommend this place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The rooms were smelly. The toilet didn't flush, the food wasn't so good The room where we were assigned to was too far away from the restaurant. The staff of the hotel were friendly. The owners should remodel it. Nightlife Was boring , no shows at all.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location but Shhort on Service"
Hotel is perfectly situated on the beach. Restaurants and bars are conveniently located and well-staffed for a large hotel. The NEGATIVES were many! Over 2 hours to check-in, room was not cleaned 2 days in a row and had to tip a bellman to find us some clean towels, we received bottle beverages but no fridge or bottle opener provided, always out of […] beach/pool towels, guest services not so friendly. Overall disappointed in hotel service, but again, beautiful beach. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This resort is deceitful. We were so disappointed when we saw our room and very angry. They advertised beautiful rooms with all the amenities and nice beach lounges but when you get there they put you in a very discussing dirty room with one fluorescent light over the bed and lights over vanity not working so you couldn't see to wash your face it was so dark. Curtains were hanging off the curtain rod and cobwebs hang from ceiling. I don't think the floor had been swept. We had none of the amenities advertised such as minibar or coffee maker. They wouldn't change our room until late the next day after our TMR rep. (Eddy) went and complained with us. A big thank you Eddy! We were told that the resort had three types of grades and I guess we were on the lower end as we weren't allowed to use certain parts of the beach! We were constantly approached by people trying to get us to go for a tour of the resort to buy in to the VIP side(timeshare!!!) none of this was ever mentioned in their add. If we had known we would certainly not have booked this resort.i must admit that the gardens are very nice but it is the only really nice thing that I can say about this place. We Will not come back and will pass the word on to all to be aware of this place!!!!
"Horrible service "
04/11/14 Jonnathan C
This is the most bad hotel im visit in Dominican Republic, the guest service was horrible, not hot water on the rooms, they offer stuff when you make the reservation and you never get it. We supposed to check in at least 3 and that don't happen until 5:45 p.m. And they give us a room with people have the same room. When I try to go inside was a couple and the was on th bed having sex and they and me was surprised. That hotel was the most bad experience do I have on my vacation time.

I went to spend a friendly weekend with my family. It was a big mistake. The staff is useless, the room was dirty, the shower was horribly dirty. And to top it off it was full with old men with hookers. Not a good stay.

"Dear Boca Chica, I love you!"
03/27/14 David S Saint John, Canada
Dear Boca Chica, I LOVE YOU! Let me start with your vacation is mostly going to depend on what you bring to it. If you want a great relaxing quiet vacation be it romantic or work related, prebook a pool side or beach side suite. you will pay extra and it will be worth it. If you are looking for a vacation with hussle, meeting new people, trying different stuff everyday and enjoying plenty of walking and buffet dinning. Go with the cheaper garden rooms. Do not depend on anyone fixing anything in a timely fashion. you really have to learn to roll with the punches and make do with what you get. Once you get that down, this will be one of the best vacations of your life. I had a garden room with my best friend, we ended up walking aprox 15-20 kms everyday. We would start our day waling to breakfast buffet, where BTW they have the best espresso coffee I have ever enjoyed. A nice 3 egg omlette made fresh and a bowl of fruit was my morning ritual. There is something for everyone. Next our journey took us up through the resort, the lobby, the center garden and eventually to Mr Rogers Bar, where we looked over the beach while shaking off yesterdays cobwebs. Tequila Sunrise and Mojitos were whats on the menu. From this stage we would decide each day what excursion or activity we wanted to partake in. I highly recommend reading the material and schedule that comes with your room keys. Every night there is entertainment in the courtyard, everyday there are places to visit. If you wish to stay on resort you will be fine. If you choose to go off resort, adopt an attitude of understanding. The local people are poor but resilient. Learn to say No Gracias (No thank you) and say it with your heart. Don't get upset. you will have to say it many times. and occasionally add a little tired version of Por Favor. They will respect you and your space if you respect them too. I highly advise taking an evening stroll up the public beach. you will see the real Boca Chica. You will also meet many older tourists that have found less expensive ways to come back. As far as night life goes I highly suggest the Disco, go with an open mind and be prepared to hear music from many countries. Remember this is vacation for everyone. All in all we traveled, we made many, many new friends, we saw sights, sunrises and sunsets, we swam in the Caribbean and we drank pina coladas under the palm trees and in the pool. What an amazing and wonderful vacation. Dave and Steve from Canada :) Ps we had to come to Dominica to actually meet Bob from Canada so YES we do know Bob from Canada now. Who knew he was actually Cuban?

We had a few hours to spare and decided to go to hotel/resort given it was located about 15 minutes from Santa Domingo airport. We stayed there for a couple of hours and got the day pass for about $50 (you can only purchase it after 1030am). Day pass included access to the beach and buffet & snack bar. The hotels lobby was nice. Chairs were comfortable and we constantly felt a nice breeze. The beach was overcrowded. Sun beds were very uncomfortable and most of them were cut. You had to pay a $10 cash deposit for a towel (which you could change throughout the day if needs be). The sand was ok, but hard. Banana boating was common and annoying. Loud music was constantly being played in the background. Buffet was terrible to say the least. While you had a large variety to choose from it all tasted like cardboard. Restaurant was also overcrowded. Staff was not as friendly and you would have to ask endless questions to find out information. Also, the hotel lacked public facilitates to shower, etc. Hotel looks and feels a lot more rundown than the pictures you see online.

I recently went to Be Live Hamaca with my 4 kids and mom. It is supposed to be a family friendly resort. Not to say that it wasn't, just that there wasn't much going on for kids. The kids club needs work, not much going on there, astro turf with a little house and small basket ball net. There was only one afternoon where they had ativities for kids on the beach, other than that, nothing. The kids pool was out of commission. The resort itself is nice, beach is beautiful, water is shallow enough and there are 3 pools varying in size. The resort needs work, and they are working on it, adding improvements to the place but its a slow process. We had access to an off site waterpark, only a 10 minute drive, and that was the highlight of the trip. We had the place to ourselves and the kids had a blast. Unless you are flying into La Romana, it's not worth the 3 hour bus ride from Punta Cana. There are extras as well that I wasn't counting on. When I book an all inclusive, I don't expect to pay for anything besides motorized water sports. Here, you had to pay for your beach towels, which they refunded you for at the end of the trip, so long as you had your receipt, and you paid for the in room safe, which they don't reimburse you for. We ran out of hot water one day. They provided me with beer and soft drinks in the room but no refrigerator, or bottle opener until day 4. There were a lot choices at the buffet and we tried the Rodizio, brazillian restaurant one night. There is a "snack" bar on the beach, but if you're looking for a snack this won't do it. It opens at 11 am, and its more of a lunch bar than snack bar. I had a Tupperware container with me, so I loaded up on muffins, pastries and fruit for the kids to snack on between meals. I am not a fussy person, I don't expect 5 star in D R to be the same as a 5 star in Canada, but I would think twice about going back to this place.

We have come to this hotel for many years. Originally this hotel was a 5 star back in the 1990s. It has gone through many name and management changes. Originally it was called the Coral Hamaca, the Hilton Hamaca, the Oasis Hamaca and now the Be Llive Hamaca. Throughout the years things went from bad to worse. Last time we were there two years ago this place had hit bottom. We returned to the resort this year and we were pleasantly surprised. What would bring us back to this resort? This Hotel has the only Private beach in the Dominican Republic! The water is crystal clear and shallow for the most part. There is plenty of water activities and the snorkeling is fantastic! The activities at the beach were well orchestrated and there was plenty of quiet time in between activities. The snack bar at the beach was good with a fair bit of variety. The downfall at the beach was the $10 US deposit per beach towel and insufficient amount of lounge chairs. There is not enough shaded areas like palm trees or huts. We were told this situation was temporary and was going to be resolved in the near future. The two pools at the beach were clean and well kept. The rooms are showing wear and tear and are in need of a makeover, but they are kept clean. We understand that rooms in the resort are being upgraded but this will take some time. On the positive side there was always hot water for a shower anytime during the day or night. There were power outages but were short in duration (less than 5 minutes). The food at the buffet and restaurants were very good and had sufficient variety. The bars appeared to be well managed and the service was excellent! The mini bars in the rooms are well stock with beer, water and pop. The gym has been moved to the second floor overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The treadmills, elliptical and exercise bikes are newer and in good working order. There is a walking/running path in the garden area which is marked for distance. The staff is excellent and they always do their best. Of course trying to speak a little Spanish and tipping goes a long way here! Whenever we had a request they alway seemed to accommodate us. This is a Dominican 4 star and not a North American 4 star hotel. There has been a recent change in Senior Management and it looks like improvements are starting to appear. We look forward to returning next year.

vacationers going to be live hamaca garden boca chica Beware , my wife and i went to this resort from jan.26 to feb. 9/14 ,it was the worst vacation we ever had,we arrived the night of jan 26 it was late, so we cheked-in and went to the room because it was time for dinner we just dropped the luggage and went out, we din't had time to evaluete the room , but to our surprise when returned the floor was all wet water was coming from the ceiling and it was coming wright on top of the coat rack so we coul'd hang on the clothes, the toilet was't flushing down and it was wright behind the italian restaurant where there was a very laud fan and the workers were talking very laud until early hours of the morning ,it kept us-up all night, the room looked like those of a cheep mothel were you rent by the hour, so the next morning we complain and they us another room whic in apparence looked better but we had to call in few times to make the beds and clean the room, we had to call-in almost everyday to bring towels and then they will only bring 2 shower towels never hand towels or face cloth,we had to call-in every day to unclog the toilet because was't flushig-down!!! IT WAS DISGUSTING!!! i had to get up early every morning in order to find a spot in the shade there isn't enough shades for the amount of guestes and the tiolets by beaches were disgusting, the service in the buffet is very poor especially in the morning when you had to wait about 20 minutes to get some coffee, the only decent place to eat was the gourmet restaurant .needless to say we wont going back ! on a positive note the whether it was beautiful ,may-be because the manegement cuoldn't control it otherwise they would had spoiled that for us too. hh
"Pick another Hotel. Needs New Management"

If you don't mind cold showers with very little pressure, Staff trying to sell you something daily, from time shares, to excursions, then you may like this place My son and I just got back Feb 28/14. The first two days absolutely no hot or warm water, not a drop when you turned on the hot water tap. ( Cold water only). Just overall things you would expect, is lacking in this motel. I went to management daily for the first two days over the hot water issues, we where told they would move us to another room , but it never happened . Sales people waiting at the entrance of the buffet, morning, noon and night. We had troubles getting towels and face clothes at the start .However giving the maid a 25.00 tip on our third day fixed these issues. Only one day out of the 7 day stay was our fridge stock as promised. The room was ok , it had some water stains on the ceiling over the bed but it never leaked. The pools and grounds are nice. The motel has potential but needs new management . This is no 4 star 3 at the best
