""Hotel is Dated""
"We stayed at this hotel which is considered the best hotel in Boca Chica. We spent over 170 us dollars to stay, and although it included beverages and food , we were disappointed in the upkeep of the hotel. The furniture was in very poor condition, and quite soiled and scratched. The bathroom was ample size and nice. The bed was a little stiff. It […] seems the rooms could use a fresh coat o f paint and new furniture. The buffet was decent, but not great. Deserts were minimal and not tasty. The staff was friendly, and there were many activities for kids. It still is probably the best choice for hotels in Boca Chica, but thats not saying much. I would rather go to another destination such as Juan Dolio, or La Romana and stay in a much nicer hotel or resort for the same or less money. I believe you pay too much of a premium for the all inclusive aspect." Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Do to the bad time of season, very few people were at the resort. Because of this, there was a very limited number of bars and restaurants open. This coupled with a reduced staff, made for a less then good vacation.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Customer service girl was the best!"
I booked a room with a king size bed but got 2 queen's. I checked in after 6 pm and though it was to late to have it changed that night but the customer service girl that works the night had me in a room 4 floors up with a better view and a king size bed in less than 15 min. She also helped me with getting my laundry picked up, reservation's , and directions […] to 3 of the many restaurants. She would greet me with a charming personality asking if there was any thing I needed. She made the whole experience special. THANK YOU! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very dissatisfied about what we experienced!!"
Will make it brief. The experience that my husband and I had was awful. We had to be changed to four different rooms within 2 days if being there. We will not go or refer anyone there ever!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
Well when I first got there the suites were all booked I paid more money to stay in the Suites for nothing!! They said they would have me in a Suite by Monday as Anthony said from the front desk... he was no help!! Well Monday came and I went to look at the suite and I did not like it they gave me a dingy room with no view no balcony with a ugly street […] view. My husband said we were staying in the room we already have because it was much nicer and this room had been recently been renovated it looks like the picture with the two beds The room I was in was way better than the Suite it was in the main bldg 407 double bed huge bathroom I was right in front of the pool and the beach. housekeping did a great job with cleaning the room and I always had towels. "Musty, Smelly and Not upto the mark"
The room was very pretty But it was musty and smelley. No proper maintenance and it was supposed to be a new block. We already mentioned we were coming with a three year old. Yet we were far away from the lobby and dining area. The only good thing was that we had direct access to the beach. The food and drinks were good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Overall the hotel was okay. However, the service was not good. I asked for a clean towel; an hour later I still didn't get any towel. I went to the front desk to talk to them personally. I checked out a few hours later and I didn't see a clean towel.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Close to Beach"
Booked suite and received a regular room that was called a suite because its in the same building (Presidential Suites) was not worth the stay at all. Checked in, late afternoon and the room wasn't completed by housekeeping. Bed not made, wall lamp hanging off and the security safe needed new batteries. When i called the front desk, i was informed a […] staff member will come to the room. We waited 85 minutes and then called again, same thing repeated after 40 min took the walk to the front desk, (its a long one from the Presidential Suites). The front desk staff told us housekeeping is waiting for us at our room. We went back, no one there, we gave up after I called and asked for a Manager and was informed the Manager is not available. The next morning tried again, security came and informed me the safe is no good they would have to change it (I would have to wait) The cleaning problem would have to taken care of Housekeeping and the wall lamp by the engineers but we would have to be in the room for this to all happen. We laughed and went back to the front desk and asked for a manager. Again i was informed a manager is not available. I went back to the room, placed a DND sign on the door and left. I DONT recommend this place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location but Shhort on Service"
Hotel is perfectly situated on the beach. Restaurants and bars are conveniently located and well-staffed for a large hotel. The NEGATIVES were many! Over 2 hours to check-in, room was not cleaned 2 days in a row and had to tip a bellman to find us some clean towels, we received bottle beverages but no fridge or bottle opener provided, always out of […] beach/pool towels, guest services not so friendly. My friends & I stayed at The Be Live Hamaca Hotel for 15 days. The all inclusive food was nothing out of the ordinary, to switch it up we tried the food at the Pelicano Restaurant which was Great!! Our waiter Daniel Cleto was the best!! He provided Awesome service, was very well in helping us decide on our meals, very nice, friendly & very attentive. I would recommend anyone coming to Boca Chica to come to the Pelicano Restaurant it has a panoramic beautiful view right on the beach. This will definitely be included on our next trip in November!!

We stayed at Be Live over a weekend. It was fun but definitely not a place I would stay for more than a couple of days. The rooms were outdated and the activities were a little odd. The beach was beautiful and the water perfect. The staff tried really hard but there just wasn't enough of them. Great potential!

Overall Me and my boyfriend had a nice time at Hamaca Garden Boca Chica. Check In was a bit slow even though it was only us and another family checking in around 2 am at night. It took them almost 10-15 minutes to find a room for us even though the hotel was half empty. The room itself was very basic but clean and functional. Air condition and the little fridge worked. We had a little problem with a not so great working shower but it was fixed immediately after we informed the reception. (Almost) everyday the fridge was filled with 2 soft drinks and 2 beers. The room is probably in 2 the star category not 4 stars. I cannot understand why people give such bad reviews on the food. Ok they dont offer expensive seefood or steak but there are always plenty of choices on different kind of meat, fish, vegetables and rice/potaetos. The only really bad food was when they tried to cook chinese. TheSushi was very dry and the chinese dishes tasted horrible. I dont know if it lacked cooking skills or decent ingredients, probably both. They also offer lots of different salads and dessert. For breakfast they have everything you can ask for. The service varies a lot. Some waiters are very efficient others prefer to stand around the bar and chat. Especially the breakfast waiters need more training, it often takes way to long to get coffee served even though there is plenty of staff. For food I can give a good 3 stars. The grounds are beautifull and well kept. For a few days we had very bad weather and everyone worked hard to get everything back to normal. The animation team is great, probably one of the most hardworking ones I have come across. These guys work from 9 pm to around midnight with only a few small breaks to keep the guests happy. El Brujo, Chupy, Keisy and the rest of the team are very friendly and funny we had a good laugh with them. But I guess if you are not interested in animation they will leave you alone too. The shows at night are alright, best one was the artistics show. The disco after the nightly show was always rather quiet but this is low season. Its ok to dance a bit or have some drinks. The beach was nice. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain during our stay and for a few days the water turned kind of dirty but this is of course not the hotels fault. What I thought was a very nice touch that when I was sick in bed all day and had the no disturb sign out in the early evening somebody from the reception called to make sure I was ok. For such a big hotel this a special thing to do. I cannot understand a lot of the bad reviews. Its not a perfect hotel overall maybe rather a 3 than a 4 star hotel but its not the nightmare from hell a lot as a lot of people write here. Would I have my wedding there? No..but for a cheap friends or lovers getaway its fine.
"Rating this hotel a "1 star" is generous..."

Let me start off by saying I have traveled to Dominican Republic approx. 15 times in the past 10 years and I have never I mean NEVER experienced a hotel like this. First off, our flight came in at 2:30 am so we arrived at the hotel around 3:15 am. We were the only ones checking in and had to wait ONE hour.. As we sat and waited we watched prostitutes walk by the front desk staff and security. Finally we begin to check in and we were told we had to pay an extra $200 a night for my boyfriend!? Mind you my reservation through Expedia specifically said 2 guests. After losing the argument with the front desk guy I gave him my credit card, said to charge one night and someone needed to call Expedia in the morning. The guy said they would only take cash!?? I am not stupid, I told him I didn't bring cash, so he took my card. A hotel that only takes cash.. sounds like a scam to me. Anyways, we get to our room and it was disgusting, outdated, no towels, no toilet paper, the "all inclusive" refrigerator was EMPTY, the tv was a 1984 20 inch tv with no remote.. oh and I can't forget to mention some of the outlets did not have outlet covers, the top lock on the door was hanging off, there were black spots on the bathroom wall that looked like mold, and there was a small room that appeared to be a closet with a safe. If you want to use the safe you have to pay another $3 a day to get the lock. I chose to not give that hotel another $1.00 so we did without the safe. The luggage rack in the room was rusted shut so we couldn't even use that! The next morning we met with the hotel manager who would not honor my Expedia reservation, but would reduce the fee to $81 a day, and then refused to call Expedia?! At this point it was not a vacation, it was a stressful nightmare. The manager listened to our concerns, clearly didn't care but said he would switch our room at 4:00. Meanwhile we went to the pool and that was filthy.. plastic cups on the pool floor, dirt, leaves and debris floating around in the pool. My boyfriend got talking to people at the pool and apparently everyone had these same issues and some with the ac in the rooms not working. A few people told us they were on their 3rd and 4th room change! We went back to the reception at 4:00 and was assigned another room. After we packed and headed to the new room the bellman tells us that room was occupied?! My boyfriend spoke his mind to the front desk (he is Dominican so he spoke to them in Spanish) and made it very clear to them that everyone there was unhappy but they didn't care. We decided to stay in the crap room, the only issue we didn't have was our ac worked, except we couldn't control the temperature, the gauge was broke..surprise surprise. Oh and ladies don't leave your men alone for a second because the prostitutes walk freely around the resort, and I am not exaggerating. No idea what security is there for but clearly it's not to protect the guests. We met a single guy traveling alone at the pool and he told us he was dancing with an attractive girl at the hotel club the night before, unbeknown to him, she was a prostitute and she asked him to take her to his room, when he said no she threw her drink in his face. Saturday night front if me, 2 prostitutes made a comment to my boyfriend as we walked by. The only advice I can say is believe these reviews you read, this hotel is a dump (that is being nice), I would recommend a homeless shelter before going there. Some of the grounds look nice but what good is manicured lawns and trees when the rooms are falling apart. And I can guarantee that if this hotel was in the US it would be shut down due to failing inspection codes.

Where to start i was in this hotel from the 5 to the 20 of agost..el servicio en front desk is very rude, they had a lot of empty room..my plane arrived @9 i got to the hotel @10am tired for not sleeping the whole night excited for my trip, and they made wait till 3pm to check in..second night i went to the gourmet restaurant i found hair in my stake..and the pepper bottle was full of weird bugs..the room was horrible i had to change room twice..i stood in the last one cauze i didnt waned to move my bags no more..the slide door of outside was broke, a small and old tv with really bad connection in the channels, an old bed that made a lot noises when i moved..the only goid thing was the show @night and entertaiment thanks to la chupis, baby blue, baby faces and the others si no hubiera sido por ustedes hubiera tenido el peor viaje de mi vida...

I was there on 8/16 for a wedding. The wait to check in was over an hour and 1/2 and the line never moved. I was able to check in and pay before 3 but could not get a room. The wedding was at 4:30. At 2:30 I was back in line trying to get my room key. By 3 I was told my room would not be ready for another hour. I explained I needed a room because I had to get ready for a wedding. The staff did not seem to care in the least. I as well as 2 other guests who could not get their keys either ended up getting ready in the bathroom of the lobby. I never was able to get my room. I tried to get a refund and they were not helpful at all. Many of the guests were in rooms that were the worst I have ever seen. No air conditioning, the doors would not lock, the bathroom was filthy. I have stayed in fancy hotels and not so fancy. This was by far the worst. If I could give this negative points I would. DO NOT STAY there it was absolutely horrendous.

I was kind of skeptical going to this place since I got and exceptionally great rate for my stay. Got there and there was and issue with them finding my reservation. I understood that I only made a reservation two hours before, but it was a hassle to get them to check me in. After the ordeal however, they made me feel at home by seating me down and going over the how to get around the resort, the activities and restaurants available to me and to my surprise they bought me a drink. If you are expecting a 5 star hotel then this would not meet your expectation. The room was showing its age,and needed updating, couldn't adjust the airconditioning because it was pretty must set, but the room temperature was bearable enough for me. As as for me a single male travelling by myself it was totally fine especially since I was out of the room for most of the day. The best part of my stay was the entertainment and activities that the hotel provided. The entertainment team consisting of Clara (Tuti Fruity), Janeah, Ricky and other were very energetic, hilarious and kept the beat going, They hosted activites (volleyball, borche ball, horse shoe, salsa, bachata and merengue basic lessons among other inventive games). I got a certificate of participation pretty much every night for participating in activities and I even got a bottle of rum for winning more that one activity At night after dinner, there was always something going on like circus night, carnival night and the perfect couples night (i was in stitched and couldn't help myself) and once that part was done the party continued at the discotec across the street. The food was ok, but I would of liked to have local Dominican or even more latino foods. Just seem like it was mostly American food which I would prefer not to have on vacation. The electricity went out the first night that I was there and the water went out for a couple hours another day and it sucks to have to pay for internet for such a big resort. The pools and the beautiful and pristine beach totally made up for some of these downers though. Overall I had a great experience with no regrets. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and i'm looking forward to going back again shortly. Hopefully Clara, Janeah, Ricky and the rest of the entertainment team are still around when I get there!!!

We were here from 20th of august trough 23th of august 2014. I have read some reviews and was thinking that it can't be that bad. O was i wrong!!!!!! When we arrived at the hotel it was as if you need them and they don't need you!!! The service is horrible and as others has stated the air conditioning is a one setting for all situation. At first it was only hot and at around 4 to 5 a.m.began to get a little bit cold. I asked and asked but nobody can do nothing about it because it's only on setting for all and take it or leave it. The 3 restaurants are not bad if you can get a chance to get in one of them!!!. tables are limited. You have to get up at 7 to 730 to go down and reserve a spot at the restaurant or forget-it you'll be eating a very low budget Dominican food buffet. What you see as advertisement is not what you get. The nice tippi bar on top of the sea is not free it's a paid restaurant. Not bad but at least tell tourists in advance. The Dominican show is good to see. The snacks are a raw hamburger and fries or a hot-dog at the beach bar. If i had known all these issues i have gone to The Barcelo Hotels where i at least get some service. There is no other type of attraction you can go to besides a Ole Supermarket( $45 to 50 dollars rip off ). To go to Santo Domingo were there's something to do will cost you about $70 to 80 dollars. The only thing what was nice was the balcony of the beach side and the beach. The pool pumps are not circulating the water at all so it looks like a dirty pool. I have been quit a bit to the Dominican republic my wife is Dominican but even she was surprised this time with the bad service and food beside the restaurants that you have to get up early to reserve as mentioned. If you go down at about 9 to 9.30 forget it. One thing i know for sure is that i'll be staying somewhere else next time. I rather advice you to go to Punta Cana, Puerto Plata or Santo Domingo where there's more to do.

Hotel was out dated it needs major upgrades. But overall the hotel is ok, check in was slow. I did however in counter a problem with the room I requested was not give to me. I was ready to leave. I than spoke to Nikel Lendor the Reception manager at the hotel explained the problem that happened to me. He said let me help you, with in matter of 5-10 minutes. He came back to me and said I have another room available for you. We took the room. Also the staff members that took care of my son were great, Baby Blue ,Cavi Chopi, Animacion, Keila, Tuti Fruiti. Thanks to all.
