This hotel is a hidden gem. It is a tranquil oasis in an absolutely awful tourist area. There are only 30 rooms which makes for a really relaxing, quiet vacation. The hotel is beautiful, set in an olive grove with lovely landscaping and pool. It is a traditional old Portuguese house that has been spectacularly renovated. The rooms are new and clean […] but also built in traditional style. Each room has its own large patio or balcony depending whether you are on the ground or first floor. The rooms each have an en suite and air conditioning. There is a good buffet breakfast included. The staff are superb, particularly the host Juan. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him and he made us feel really welcome and comfortable for the 9 days we stayed. From the improvement work still going on it looks like at some point this hotel is going to be a lot bigger and more impersonal and may become spoiled like the rest of the area, so it should be visited sooner rather than later. Hopefully I'm wrong and it stays as perfect as it is now! The village across the street is still relatively unspoiled and is 2 minutes walking distance. It has some nice restaurants, particularly A Marizilnha, Unfortunately, a few kilometers down the road is the horror of "tourist Algarve" - very tacky - but if you want a peaceful , relaxing vacation Capela das Artes is for you Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is in the middle of creating a new image for itself, so the bar is yet to be finished but the restaurant and lounge areas are completed so the atmosphere is a mixture of rural, artistic ambience - very laid back. The hotel rooms are located in an olive grove, antique sculptures are placed artistically in the gardens. The hotel succeeds in […] creating agro-tourism atmosphere with lots of space, different from most of the tourist hotels at the beaches nearby. A main road is nearby so we quickly travelled to other places in the Algarve. We enjoyed our stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great small hotel with large garden area and pool"
The hotel is well situated next to the main road and just outside Armacao de Pera with its large choice of restaurants and lovely beaches. We loved the quiet location and large Mediterranean Gardens and swimming pool area, which allowed us to relax and spend time reading by the pool. The hotel staff were very accommodating and provided that personal […] service which made our stay extra special. We will be back again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The welcome and service from Capela das Artes was fantastic. Capela dea Artes is an oasis of peace and quiet in the middle of the bustling Algarve. Juan and Sarah, thank you very much for making this a special place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Completely relaxing and perfect spot only half an hour from the airport and a short walk from the local town which had two reasonable restaurants. It was quiet and peaceful in beautiful setting even though it was August and a short drive to the sea showed the contrast of packed seaside resorts.

Unfinished rural hotel with nice staff. Expect mothing and be positively surprized. Greatest asset is the generous pool with no people. Hopefully in about ten years time this hotel project Willy be finished with charm nd interestimg artifacts from the area.

I recently hosted my wedding at this venue and it was made much easier by having accommodation for all of my guests. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Joao and his team are incredibly helpful and will go out of their way to sort out any requests or needs. The hotel is very easy to find opposite Aldi in Alcantarilha and the town has numerous restaurants, all within walking distance and good value. The atmosphere of the hotel is idyllic and tranquil and despite bordering the N125 barely any noise is heard. The main house is worth exploring with various pieces of art throughout. For the beach lovers: Praia Grande (Armacao de Pera) and Salgados are approx 3km away and link with Praia Gale. My husband and I will definitely be returning.

This hotel is fantastic and the customer service first class. Situated in an oasis of peace and calm midst the throbbing Algarve, it was a delight to find such a wonderful place to stay. The rooms were clean and spacious, the pool was warm and inviting, and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. Juan and Sarah, thank you for making our stay most enjoyable.
"A classy experience"

We visited the hotel in October and were the only guests so we enjoyed the peace and quiet of a wonderful setting with beautiful olive groves. A welcome break from the urban coastline a few kilometres away. The main building is full of charm but the hotel rooms are in modern buildings and are functional. The owner was extremely helpful and charming and provided us with lots of useful tips besides giving us a great value for money deal.

This hotel is a great place to stay. The setting of the rooms is amongst olive trees through which the early morning sun comes through to light the patio in front of your ground floor room. The grounds are delightful, a lovely pool and areas to relax in. The main building houses many interesting antiques and other objects d'art. The host, Oscar, is so helpful and friendly and delighted us with his detailed history of the buildings which he has converted into this lovely hotel. We can't wait to go back!
"Very friendly, super property, highly recommended"

We had a lovely time at Capela Das Artes (Sept 2011). Host Oscar is very friendly, super helpful and made us feel so welcome. The property is a very appealing renovated manor house with purpose built guest accomodation in the gardens. Walled gardens to give secluded feel. Very quiet, close to local ameneties, easily accessed from the main road and a five minute drive from the motorway, so easy access to Faro Airport. Plenty of parking on site. Our room was very clean, nicely presented, comfortable with a balcony overlooking the trees, gardens and bright, clean pool. Continental breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice a great start to each day. We spoke to other guests during our stay here - they return year on year to this hotel and we can undersatand why. We also highly recommend. Thank you, Oscar. Mike & Lisa, Canterbury, UK
"Peaceful, welcoming hotel and wonderful host"

We spent another wonderfully relaxing week here with two of our children and we will be back. The pool is lovely, the bedrooms and bathrooms are bright, simple and beautifully clean (wi fi available) the gardens and olive groves well tended. The host Oscar could not be more helpful- his fresh orange juice at breakfast was a winner and he was full of suggestions of places and beaches to visit. Nothing was ever too much to him. From the hotel, its 3 mins walk up the road into the village for fresh fish, delicious steak (picanha) and home made puddings at the local Casa do pasto. Alcantarilha, the main town on the coast a short drive away, was lively every evening - great ice creams & cafes. If you are looking for a friendly, peaceful, simple hotel with a beautiful pool and welcoming hosts, away from the crowds of Algarve tourists, then this is it. 40 min drive from Faro airport.
"What a spectacular experience"

Having known the Capela Das Artes for many years through travelling extensively in the Algarve, it was a natural choice for our wedding in September 2010. Oscar is your host and makes you feel like you are the only guests in his hotel - whether he's fully booked or nearly empty. 56 of our friends flew out to join us and simply raved about the peace, tranquility, charm and just pure magic of this lovely historic place. The rooms are stylish yet retain their Portuguese/Moorish charm. Built among a 400 year old olive grove the sympathetic restoration of the Manor House and construction of the accommodation to the rear is a testament to the love and devotion that Oscar and the owner have for this special place. The little village of Alcantarilha is less than 5 minutes walk and in typical Portuguese style supports some little bars and a couple of traditional restaurants - all of whom provide a warm welcome and excellent service and food. This is a marvellous base for touring the Algarve or simply parking, unpacking and completely chilling out. I cannot rate Capela Das Artes and indeed Oscar highly enough, our wedding simply wowed everyone and will be remembered forever!
"Beautiful hotel in a peaceful town."

We've just returned from five days staying at Capela Das Artes and had a wonderful time. The hotel is a beautifully renovated farm house with a lovely pool. The rooms are clean, simple and elegant. Oscar, the owner, is a great host, can't do enough for you. We didn't hire a car as we were after a holiday full of R & R, however the majority of the other guests did have a cars to explore a little further afield. The town of Alcantarilha itself is very small, almost a hamlet with around four restaurants. If we had stayed longer than five days then I think we would have considered hiring a car to do a bit of exploring but for a long weekend we were fine sitting around the pool during the day and heading into the town in the evenings. All in all, a beautiful hotel and lovely sleepy town perfect for a relaxing break in the sun.
