The single worst hotel I have every been to. To begin, they had given away our larger, PREPAID room and wanted to put us in a smaller one. Next the room was dirty. Then the bed was hard as concrete and finally the room is very noisy. Avoid at all costs.

Only a few minutes from the airport, and very economical. Small rooms, but clean. Free shuttle to and from the airport. I was able to get a day room for twelve hours; much better than sitting at the airport. In a commercial area, but didn't have any concerns walking around (and wasn't there for the locale). All in all, a good deal.

Having stayed in Malaysia for a good while, I'd say this hotel is better than average. The location really wasn't as bad as some reviewers have said...again, perhaps experience in Malaysia softens a review. My huge problem, and it was the only problem really...was a juvenile cockroach I saw (and killed) in my room. Yes, you see them at night all the […] time near the sewers outside, but this was the first time I saw one inside. It scrambled when I turned on the light, a good sign... it's when they just sit there after you turn the light on you know there's a major problem. I never saw any more after I killed the one, but the hotel should probably make sure it's cleaning up trash from previous guests (trash=food crumbs, etc). I was unable to find reviews written on this location, but I decided to take a chance and book 2 nights there. It was a great decision! We stayed at the beginning and end of our trip in Malaysia and wish we had spent more time there. It is a new hotel and has been open for less than a year. They offered complimentary airport transportation and complimentary […] breakfast and that sounded good to me. However, the first night we stayed, our room did not include a free breakfast. I am unsure why, but we purchased breakfast in the hotel anyway. Service was very good. Everyone was very friendly and this was our first stop in Malaysia so we had an excellent first impression of the country. The front desk staff was excellent along with the bellhop. The hotel manager was also very involved, helpful, and friendly. He carried our bags to and from our room at times and even brought us to the airport in his car when the van was not available. He even served our breakfast the first morning, and makes wonderful eclairs and muffins that are for sale in a display case when you walk in the hotel. I was very impressed. The beach is a short (10-15 minute) walk away and was a great suggestion from the staff of where to get dinner. It has a great vibe and wonderful sunsets. The night market is also right across the street, where you can get all kinds of tasty local food. We had dinner there the first night and enjoyed it. They have free internet and a computer available for guests, which was a godsend for us, as we did not have our own laptop. The room was clean and comfortable, with a nice TV on the wall, complimentary bottled water and provisions for making tea and coffee. We found some of the beds to be quite firm but the pillows were very comfortable. The minor negatives were that there were no windows in our rooms (perhaps there are windows in other rooms; I was used to daylight waking me up so we mistakenly slept until 9am the first morning there!) and it is very close to the airport Read more

I chose the hotel primarily for it's convenience to T2 as I was ariving late in the evening. The location was great, away from the hustle bustle of downtown KK, and close to Tanjung Aru beach. I had to stay overnight in KK for my flight to Labuan and this hotel gave me the comfort to rest. Friendly staff. I had an inexpensive indian dinner close by and ended my day with a relaxing massage right across. Their breakfast was a choice of either continental or asian. We were a couple looking for a place to sleep for a one night stopover in Kota Kinabalu. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the hotel. We liked: - the free airport transfer which was easily arranged through a phone call; - that it was near the airport (5 minutes away by taxi); - how clean and modern the hotel was; - that the hotel provides […] toiletries, towels, bottled water; - the friendly staff, who helped us with our baggage up the stairs (no lifts) and who arranged for an early breakfast (we had to leave before official breakfast time). The room was snug, but it was comfortable and absolutely spotless. For this standard of hotel, it was surprising that hair dryers had to be requested. It was not available on demand and took half an hour to arrive. Sleeping in may be a problem, as due to its proximity to the airport you are able to hear the planes landing/taking off at the airport. This is not a problem at night because I don't believe there are any late night flights! Tanjung Aru, where the hotel was located, is reputed as one of the cleanest places in Malaysia (so says the sign boards) and it certainly lived up to its reputation. We hope to pay KK a longer visit next time, and we will be sure to stay at this hotel again! Read more

I would term this property more of a budget hotel than anything else. Room is crampy and small. Don't be deceived by the picture. Considering the location and facilities offered, room is over priced. Should be below the RM100 bracket. Management ought to consider offering smoking and non-smoking rooms.

My husband and I needed to stay in KK for one night for our onward flight to Sandakan. We chose Crowne Borneo because of its close location to the airport and because of the good review by other travellers. We found there is no elevator int he hotel. The room was a bit small and as a result, the current from the air-conditioner was blowing directly […] on our faces when we were in bed. We also found to our surprise that the tap water was dark brown. When we checked with the reception, we were told that there was some maintenance work. So we were not able to take a shower and resort to use mineral water to brush our teeth that night. Having said, the hotel staff were friendly and the services were good. this Hotel was extremely convenient to Terminal 2 airport for our early morning outbound flight, but was very noisy to the overhead airport traffic. the room was very clean and comfortable and compact. food options plentiful around the hotel as well as in the Hotel. staff very helpful and communicating in English was not a problem.
