"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Affordable Quickie in NY"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.
""Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.
"Nice hotel in the theatre district"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012

David Burke Kitchen — Rustic American cuisine with a contemporary flair
The restaurant focuses on wholesome and hearty modern American food, locally sourced and presented in the creative and whimsical style that is Burke’s trademark. Designed by James Beard Award-winner Thomas Schlesser, David Burke Kitchen’s interior is inspired by the surrounding Soho neighborhood, blending the cool, industrial simplicity of an airy loft with the rustic warmth of an urban farmhouse.
The loft-like main dining room featuring exposed beams and views through glass walls into the kitchen and wine cave; and outdoor space within the Urban Garden, opening this summer. The dining room boasts a bold, theatrical experience: a carving station where dishes are plated in the center of the action.
David Burke Kitchen serves breakfast, lunch, dinner daily as well as weekend brunch.

Rooftop Bar - JIMMY
The James New York's awe-inspiring rooftop is perhaps our most enviable feature. It boasts a sexy social atmosphere, with an enclosed bar and lounge set against 360-degree views of the Manhattan skyline. Framed by the hotel's architectural "halo," the private rooftop pool featuring teak wood decking and outdoor showers, includes both indoor and outdoor seating for warm weather fun and relaxation.

"Never again!"
Terrible. Downgraded my room from a king suite to a queen standard without telling me. Like I wouldnt notice... When confronted they said they had no others. Jimmy is a dreadful bar with affected staff that seem to forget they work in a bar. Save yourself the trouble and stay at the Standard!
"totally NOT accomodating hotel!"
1st they were late checking us in eventhough we arrived at the hotel at 4:30/5pm - so they made us wait to get our room we asked for any kind of replacement for breakfast since we were not eager to have fries and bacon and greasy eggs and bread in the morning... saying that we would be content even with a yogurt and box of cereal... but NO the manager […] would not offer any replacement... eventhough it would have been cheaper for him too!! they also delivered our breakfast late outside our door a garbage food bag from mc donald's (from our neighboor's room accross the hall) stayed there rotting from 8pm in the evening until 3pm the next day... very disappointing when you spend so much for a night!! "If service is what you want - this place has it."
The people here make the stay from good to extraordinary. Really. I read the reviews and didn't understand until I went. They leave the Trump SoHo and the Essex House (the other hotels I visit) in the DUST. Really. Yu have to experience it to believe it - you will not regret it.
"excellent door man!"
Love Chris!

"Exceptional Service and Friendly Staff 5 Stars!"
Extremely friendly, helpful, and guest centric staff. I believe this is the best hotel I've stayed in NYC, and have been to my fair share of hotels here. Technology up to date, the rooms have the best wireless Wi-fi, the best mini bar you can find in a hotel in NYC, and loved that the doors wirelessly let me in. Unlike some hotels that provide tiny […] soaps and shampoos, they provide a full bottle with a pump. The shower worked great, and the room decoration was beautiful. Superb location, a must stay for anyone looking for the best hotel in the city. Read more
"James in New York"
Customer service at this elegant hotel was amazing. From the time I entered the door to check in. The staff was outstanding. The only complaint was the early morning front desk staff was not as helpful but the rest of the staff made the James my new hotel of preference.
"The James New York - great experience"
Great hotel. VERY friendly and helpful staff. I really liked the location on the southwest edge of Soho. Easy walk to the Village and other great neighborhoods. I booked the corner king and had awesome unobstructed views to east and south from the 14th floor. Highly recommended!
"Relaxation and Restaurant'ing at the James"
Cool hotel with great staff. The room was really cozy and the views of NYC were hard to beat. Amazing location in Soho, too, near a lot of great restaurants (we ate at the Dutch and it was fantastic). David Burke kitchen was nice for brunch in the morning too.
"Great experience!!!"
We stayed here for the first time on President's weekend. We chose it based on the reviews we read. Our experience exceeded our expectations. Every single staff member we interacted with was so friendly, so helpful, so welcoming! This combined with the lovely assortment of all-day offerings in the lobby lounge (who doesn't love the free stuff!!),the […] outstanding downtown location and the fabulous David Burke Kitchen made this a memorable weekend. Our corner room, though a bit on the small side, was perfectly outfitted with everything we needed and had amazing views. Would love to return in the warmer months to take advantage of the great outdoor spaces. The views from the rooftop bar will make you swoon. Read more

"The James Hotel- Beautifully Done!"
Quite, Contemporary yet VERY Comfortable and Well Appointed. Walking distance to everything in Tribecca to one direction and Soho and the LES in the other. A quck cab ride up 6th Ave to additional world class shopping on 5th or Madison Ave. My new address when traveling to New York City.

Wonderful decor, great atmosphere. Wonderful stay. Would come back and certainly recommend it.
"The James New York - Great Stay!"
Staff was great, hotel is nice size, clean, good restaurant and bar. Within walking distance to everything in SOHO and an easy jog over to the W Side Highway multi-purpose jogging, biking, walking path. Will return.
"Very Nice hotel"
The hotel room is very nice, and the staff is super friendly... even though it is definitely at the higher end of the price range, it was worth it. The hotel has complimentary snacks in the lobby, and chocolate at night, and that is a very sweet perk of staying at the James hotel . I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay there again
"The James - great hotel, great location"
The front desk was very helpful. She recommended Rubirosa - an Italian restaurant on Mulberry. It was delicious. The hotel is in a great location. Lots of activity nearby. The rooftop bar has great views. And the corner king was an awesome room. Would definitely recommend the hotel.

The only drawback was the size of the room. We had a lot of luggage because we had been travelling for nearly 3 months. One night was manageable, but any longer a bit more space to spread out would have been good.
"Staff the jewel of the hotel"
Without the gracious conduct of the staff this is an average and overpriced hotel. However, the staff, whether delivering room service, hailing a cab or cleaning the gym were extraordinarily friendly and helpful.
"SO SO"
We didnt get our room when we were supposed so we had to wait 2 hours... The waiters forgot about us... The rooms were very noisy
"Chic but laid back hotel"
Loved this place. I love staying in really nice hotels, but I hate it when they are stuff. The James has everything and more would expect from a hotel of this caliber without all the stuffiness. I'll definitely be back.

Great location. A nice (maybe too long for some) walk to Little Italy, ground zero, and the Statton Island Ferry (no cost) past the Statue of Liberty. Th roof top pool and bar were very nice, albeit expensive. Staff was friendly and the bartender was great.
LOVED the hotel and the staff was amazing!! Food incredible although service at the Garden was really slow and unorganized. Everyone was more than helpful from the concierge to the manager to cleaning staff. Only one problem my ipad was stolen out of my car at check in when I used valet. It was never recovered. So enjoy the pool, the service but watch […] your things!!!! Read more
"Great hotel however....."
This was a great hotel situated in a great location. The pool never worked while we were there and we were told that the filtration system needed a part that never showed during our stay. During the evening they turn the pool into a night club. We were told by the concierge that because we were guests they could put our name on the list. When we showed […] up the guy at the door said "nahh man its just you on the list, no plus one". Overall it was great and we will be back.... Read more
"Such amazing service and people!"
This was our 4th time at the James! Everyone that works there is so very nice and helpful! It's a place to escape to in the midst of one of the best area in NYC. WE LOVE THE JAMES!
"Great Location, Great Staff & Amenities"
The staff was so nice. The surrounding neighborhood is terrific. The rooms are very chic & hip. Love the morning coffee & pastries, and the early evening wine & cheese. Rooftop pool was a nice way to start the morning.
"Annoying"
Jimmy, the rooftop bar is beyond ridiculous. Cheesy decor, cheesy people and the health dept shut down the pool while we were there. They add a 20% gratuity to all of your bar orders even though you have to walk up to order and retrieve them. They bury this on your itemized receipt and make no call out on the credit card receipt next to the tip line […] that you've already paid. Thus, if you have had too many $17 martinis, you could by mistake end up paying 40% tip. Also, they say check in is at 3pm but when we arrived, they didn't allow us access to our room until 6pm. Annoying. Read more
"Great location but poor service"
Another "cute" boutique hotel with satisfying and comfortable room but no attention to service. Over two nights, the broken phone was never repaired, newspaper was not delivered and the front desk had to be called to have the room cleaned. Being pretty and well positioned helps, but a good hotel has to cover the basic competence of service.

"The James Hotel - Amazing service and location!"
We can't say enough about this hotel...great location, great service, beautiful decor, rooms are great (small, but not small for NY).
"Loved the room"
I had a beautiful, albeit compact room. the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The food for lunch room service was excellent, but they missed sending me my complimentary breakfast even though I hung the order on my door. The rooftop bar is cool and chic with excellent Pimmscups. I am going back.
"The James Hotel in New York"
The James Hotel staff was amazing and friendly. The entire staff went out of their way to make our stay personalized. We loved the roof top pool, the small exercise room with an amazing view, the superb food at David Burke Kitchen, the fun atmosphere of the Jimmy bar, and the overall decor, vibe and view from our room. The rooms are a little small, […] but very comfortable and well laid out. There isn't an actual dresser, but there is ample closet space. Getting a taxi was a little difficult at times because the hotel is nestled off the any major streets, but that's what makes it so unique. It also helps because its not as noisy as most hotels in NYC. I would definitely stay there again. Read more
"Cool hotel small rooms"
The James Hotel has a cool factor that almost makes up for the small-sized rooms. With high ceilings, a great vibe, vool bars and a minimalist decor, you have to appreciate where you are to appreciate the hotel.

"The FABULOUS James!"
We just returned from a long weekend in NYC. While there we stayed at The James Hotel. My husband and I were absolutely delighted. The hotel is convenintly located 1 block from the Canal St stop on the A,C,E subway line, so we never had to cab it. SoHo is the perfect place to hang out and we just spent a lot of time doing that. The hotel is gorgeous […] on the inside and the staff was very friendly and helpful with concierge services. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated in contemporary style and a panoramic view of SoHo. If we had wanted wine, any liquors, mixers, coffee, and snacks, there was a large assortment in our in-room bar.The Treehouse bar/cafe is a lovely garden spot where we enjoyed excellent food, drinks, and service. Brunch was phenomenal!! Try the chicken and waffles, by all means. Be sure to visit Jimmy's, the rooftop bar and pool, where you can get a little sun and enjoy the view of SoHo and the Hudson. LOVED this place! I'll be back for sure! Read more
"Service, Style, and Convenience in NYC"
Short of the very best 5-star hotels (i.e. Waldorf, Four Seasons), I think this is one of the very best hotels in NYC, particularly for the price. The service there is impeccable but not intrusive, and the hotel has great amenities, including an incredible small but otherwise great rooftop pool and bar. Though it is small, this is a boutique hotel […] that never seems to be crowded. When you pay just as much to wait 10 minutes to cram into an elevator at one of the high-end chains, this place is a steal. I recommend the Corner King room because the view, light, and size is perfect for two. I stayed here for a weekend getaway, but I will return here regularly for my business stays. The neighborhood is perfect and convenient (Tribeca/Soho), yet not in the thick of either bars or shopping, and just around the corner from everything. I could not say a bad thing about this place as everything from the service to the accents seemed incredible consistent. Read more
"Complete fantastic package"
great location. great design. great staff, wonderful bed. great service and fantastic overall feeling. one of the best places i stayed for business or pleasure. Really cool design of rooms and excellent mattress. very happy and definitely back there for work or for vacation
"The James in Soho"
Very arty and fun. Great room amenities. The restaurant Kitchen was wonderful! Didn't like sharing the elevator with the Roof-top party crowd (public venue). The staff was terrific!
"Exceptional Service but Room not Comfortable"
I loved this hotel but would not come back with my wife. The furniture was too minimalist and cold. I has the corner delux but no couch or comfortable chair. Only a small round table to eat on and no desk to work on. Good hotel for sleeping only or if you like the night scene, looks like fun. The staff was wonderful and the food excellent.
"The James NY - modern but classy hotel"
The James NY was a terrific experience. Although upon arrival, they did not have a room for us, even though we had reservations. I've heard that many hotels in NYC were over-booked for the graduation week. So they transferred us to a sister hotel for one night, the Benjamin, which was also terrific. The James NY arranged to pick up our luggage at the […] Benjamin to be transferred back to the James for the rest of our stay, which was VERY convenient for us. Upon re-check in at the James, they have upgraded us to a corner room. The room was spacious and had a magnificent view of 6th Ave. I love the bathroom. The shower was one of the best I've seen around for the price of the hotel. The bed was also very comfortable. The staff were also very friendly and helpful! Especially the front desk manager. Like other reviews, the walls were a bit thin, and we were able to hear rumbling and such in the hallway. But overall, I recommend the James NY. I will definitely be back. Read more
