"Service great...Rooms not so much"
Short of being in a halfway house, this room was NOT my favorite by far. The bed was AWFUL....felt like they hadn't changed the matress on the bed since the 1980's, it was hard, lumpy and uncomfortable. If you need anything after 6pm, housekeeping is gone for the day. The front desk staff are AWESOME! They made it a little bit more tolerable. I'm sure […] the carpets hadn't been changed or cleaned either....they were pretty dirty. This room was WAY overpriced for what I got. It was motel price worthy. Again, this is NO reflection on the staff, they were great....the owners should renovate. "Good place for the price."
It was good nice and simple. Ive been coming here for business and the room and hotel served their purpose. I will continue to stay here. Nothing fancy but i like the staff and the location is very convenient. Parking is sometimes a problem but most of the time its easy to find street parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute little place."
It was nice, everyone was very friendly and helpful. It's a cute place with a center court and a fountain. We had to leave at 5 AM so I don't know about breakfast etc I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Yes, hotel rooms are teeny tiny, but this place is in downtown San Diego and affordable. Surrounding neighborhood is fairly upscale and nice - not shady. Simple but nice furnishings, hot shower, flat screen TV, easy walk down to the bay, easy walk to restaurants, bars, etc. It was a great stay! Right over the flight path for landing airplanes, but all […] of downtown is! Parking is easy enough, just takes a little patience. There are quite a few street parking spots that don't have meters if you're willing to walk a block to the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"2 nights stay"
Poor breakfast but you get what you pay for. No amenities! Overall I liked it and it was good for my cause.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Ok for a night"
This hotel was ok for just a quick night but I would definitely not stay there if I had to for more than one night. The toliet was dirty. It looked like it hadn't been clean in a while. The shower wasn't the cleanest either. The room was small but for one night it was ok. I didn't arrive until after 11 and parking was extent difficult to find.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for the price"
Great value. Plentiful street parking. Rooms are small and outdated but suitable for the price. I recommend staying here for no more than a couple days and if you aren't planning on spending much time in your room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"You get what you pay for!"
Based on other reviews I didn't have high expectations, but I was in town for an event at Balboa Park and the location was close and expensive so I booked it. Parking is definitely a challenge, they do not have designated parking or a lot leaving mostly street parking. The front dest staff were friendly enough and helpful. The room was tiny, with the […] double bed taking up most of the space ( would have been a very tight space if I wasn't traveling alone), older bedding and towels. There is no sink in the bathroom, the "kitchenette" sink is the only one, brushing your teeth over it feels odd. The building is older and insulation between rooms isn't adequate I was woken several times by the person snoring in the room next to mine, even with leaving the bathroom fan on in an attempt to drown out the noise. The room wasn't serviced the entire 3 nights stay, I didn't complain as I was only there to sleep and shower. If your traveling on a budget the hotels location is excellent but don't expect much. It's an okay hotel for just a night nothing longer. Tiny rooms, but fairly clean. If your on a budget it's good. You have to pay for parking across the street $12 for 24hrs and $6 for 12hrs. Location is close to gas lamp district but it's like a 15min walk. It would be fine if the hotel wasn't on a steep hill. Breakfast in the morning was bagels, pastries, […] and juice. But overall okay hotel it gets about 2 1/2 stars from me. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"not family friendly"
It was loud, as guests were arriving from an evening out. All early hours of the day. A guest was confronted by the night clerk, and almost became a fight. Did not rest comfortably, due to the loudness.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the desk person was not friendly , i asked maybe if i could have a room that may be away from kids, the answer was we will be booked so nothing i can do i was their at 330 check in time 300 i think that their was other rooms that could have been at least checked , at this point she did not even look for something else , then also my room was by the […] evevator, of course 2 am loads of loud people comming from the evevator Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, but very Old property"
This hotel looks like an apartment complex. The small room we had was in very poor maintenance condition. Clean, but old. Breakfast is very limited to fruit, oatmeal, juices, water, coffee and pastries.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is pretty standard, but weather is great in San Diego and so many things to do that it doesn't even matter! Neighborhood in the direct vicinity of the hotel is not great, but it's only about an easy 10 minute walk downtown so totally worth it for the price. Also very close to the highway to easily access the beach and other coastal cities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
When we first walked into the hotel, I turn to my left - where the sink is and there was ashes from where I'm guessing an ash tray was emptied; so gross! The room smelled funny all weekend, even a couple friends who stayed a couple rooms down said the same. Rooms are SO TINY. Stayed at America's Best Value Inn Saturday-Monday. The room was tiny! The bed was right by the door and the non-smoking room smelled a little. The gentleman who checked us in was very courteous. Parking is terrible, they don't have their own parking lot it's first come first serve. Other than that getting a taxi was easy, the front desk is willing […] to call one in for you. Sundays are free parking so you don't have to worry about the meters. It's close to everything like the gas lamp district, old town, balboa park, mission hills but not all are walking distance. For the price you can't really beat how close everything is! Neighborhood does look sketchy at night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The customer service was trash ! Ill never go to this place again! The guy at the front desk was a total jerk !Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was extremely small. Carpet was wet when we entered. We called management who never got back to us. 15 minute walk to gaslamp.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Noisy, and I did not like that there was no sink inside the bathroom to wash our hands. We had to use the kitchen sink (YUCK). Also, I asked for a wake-up call and never got one. The hotel guests next to us and over us were really noisy. We had to pay for parking. I don't think I will stay at this hotel again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"It was great!"
The hotel was efficient. The staff was very friendly. The front desk man helped me find a free place to park (rare find don't found on one.) He also warned me to park my tires facing the curb or I would get a ticket. The airplanes flying over were not bad. It was just what we needed. The breakfast did not start till 7am and we needed to leave at 6, […] so we missed it. Gas lamp was like corporate Bourbon Street of San Diego, but that is no the hotel's fault. Stayed two nights and it was comfortable and pleasant. Just what you would expect, this hotel is about seven -eight blocks from downtown Broadway Horton square. The room was clean, just a shower and great internet. the breakfast had fruit, oatmeal, great coffee, bagels and muffin. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would book again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Rooms were to small. sink was outside of restroom and next to microwave. paint chips were noticeable on doors. i think the biggest inconvenience was the parking i can believe i had to park 2 blocks away to park and pay that was ridiculous , i was very upset on that. and had to go every 30 minutes till 6pm for free parking , hot water took 8 mins to […] warm up in shower. on a safety note the Elevator permit is expired. has not been reinspected for safety by the city. i can see it needs maintenance. wow i think i wasted $90 for a $50 room stay. "The worst hotel ever"
How can you allow people to stay here. Most unpleasant experience of my life. I booked 3 rooms for friends and family and I looked bad because it was like we were in prison.Genuine Expedia guest review
"If you're on a budget"
5-15 mins from airport, 20 mins walking from downtown. Rooms were good, staff was friendly. Breakfast was included. Overall was a good deal, however I was on a business trip, in and out so it served my purpose. If you are coming for leisure and/or with your significant other, I wouldn't recommend the hotel for that. Hope this is helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value for the money"
I was there for a week, The folks who work there are great. The room was small. Over all it was really good. It is not a 5 star hotel. It is close to the gas lamp/light area, walking distance to downtown. Over all a great value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Only if you really need too."
Room was tiny! Humid! Linens seemed old. There was a hair on the bathroom wall that never got cleaned in the whole time I was there, probably from the previous guests. It was quiet, so that was a plus. Breakfast sucked. They served begals with no cream cheese. Outdated 90's theme. Bed was very old. Did not sleep comfortably. Had to pay parking across […] the street $13 per night. Location was not the greatest but it was located close to everything. Staff wasn't horrible but I wasn't impressed either. "Walking distance to gaslamp district"
Cute, cozy, nice staff, nice little place. Only downfall no hotel parking.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great proximity to the gaslamp. Runs about $10 cab ride including tip. Rooms are extremely small though. The queen size bed we had took up the entire room. The front desk attendants were every polite and extended warm welcomes. Will probably stay here again because its inexpensive not because of the amenities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"don't know why I expeted more from a 2 star hotel"
The stay was rough. The room was incredibly small, looked nothing like the photo. The tv in the room was mounted at a strange angle because they had really no other place for it. "don't believe the pics"
This was not the quite quaint place the pics portray. The room was way toooo small. I've heard of close for comfort but this was too much. No room to move around the bed. And the carpets are filthy. "Reasonable Expectations for price"
It was clean. Base necessities. Smelled of disinfectant. It was 10 minutes by cab to the Gaslamp District. No real amenities besides the basics. Kitchen sink being used as washbowl was disconcerting. Mirror was close to 3 feet away across the shelf. My wife did not like the place. However it was inexpensive..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for the price"

"Close enough to walk anywhere!"
The hotel is not fancy, but it got the job done. We got 1 room with a king bed and it was a little snug, but we didn't care. We really just wanted the room to sleep in. We walked to the Gaslamp and it took 10 minutes (15 if wearing heels). The hotel staff was very friendly and the check in/out was fast. Their breakfast consisted of bagels, muffin, Danishes […] and other small snacks and juices. All in all, I was pleased with what we got for the price we paid. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Do not stay here"
You get a hotel room to sleep. You will not get any of that here! The airport is close and there were a couple times I was sure the planes were going to crash into my room. Couple this with other hotel residents up all night slamming their doors and the fire alarm going off for an hour, there was no chance of getting any rest! The management did not […] offer any apology when checking out and only referred me to speak with the general manager in regards to complaints. I am happy that I was the only one in my room as I'm not sure two people would be able to function without having to climb over each. No water pressure in the shower and the temp adjusts itself. There are no restaurants close by, the one that is behind is a shack that passes food out of a window and was told by the afternoon clerk other guests had complained of stomach cramps after eating there. There are restaurants within walking distance if you're willing or brave enough to walk past the crowds of bums that yell at themselves or thin air. Limited parking is an understatement, there are about 5 metered parking spots relatively close to the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
