Staying at the Hotel Alma-Calgary
This was my second stay at the Alma, and overall it was good. The rooms and beds were nice, with good amenities. However, during both stays, the hotel had false fire alarms. The first time was during breakfast, this time it was in the late afternoon AND at 11pm at night when most people were already sleeping because of an early morning competition the next day. Also, the breakfast has changed. It use to be a hot breakfast, with full spread. But now it's a typical continental breakfast with just assorted breads & danishes, assorted fruit & yogurt, juices, coffee and tea. Was a bit disappointed in that. Most times, they wouldn't even be set up to start breakfast at the designated start time, especially on the weekends which was frustrating because it would make me rush to finish my breakfast before I could leave for the day. Finally, the keys are very small & odd shaped so easy to misplace.

Fire alarms
This is a hotel on the campus and caterers to college students as a dorm and hotel. Nosy drunken students. Fire alarm pulled at 3:30 a.m. resulting in a walk down 6 flights of stairs and then walk back up as staff having problems getting the elevators working again.

Back to school
Hotel was on the University campus. too many children and college sports teams for my tastes . The room , though nice was small & Spartan .if I had known the above ,I would have passed on it . What I paid and what I received just didn't come together for me.the complimentary breakfast was great .if I was going to visit my child at the university this might have been great .... But I wasn't.

Fabulous stay!
I came to Calgary on a business trip during Stampede time, which meant the downtown hotels were all quite full or the rooms left were overpriced. I was so happy to find Hotel Alma! It was SUCH an easy trip on the C Train to/from the downtown area, and I enjoyed the nice walk through campus to the station. The room was small but perfect for me and my needs. Complimentary wifi, a desk, TV, bureau, comfy bed, coffee maker, and great bathroom made this room really comfortable. The staff was excellent and helpful, setting up a cab for me to get to the airport. I ate dinner one night at Bistro Alma and it was excellent - great service and food. The daily (complimentary) continental breakfast (including hot food in addition to the typical toast, cereal, pastries, yogurt, fruit, etc.) was one of the highlights of my stay, making it easy for this business traveler to have a convenient and great meal before the workday. I would definitely stay here again! Thank you, Hotel Alma!
