The Corus was a good value for the money - especially after walking into some of the other private hotels in the area....the room was clean and spacious by European standards. The towels were a little worn as was the carpet and the upholstered furniture - but the bed had crisp linens and the bath was very clean. With little time spent in the room, I would consider staying there again for the price.

Overview of Stanhill Court Hotel - Horley

Victorian Hotel close to Gatwick Airport
Set in 35 acres including ancient woodland and featuring many four poster bedrooms, it is no surprise that Stanhill Court Hotel was awarded "Most Romantic Hotel" by the AA along with many other accolades, including two AA Rosettes for Restaurant 1881. The hotel also features individually furnished bedrooms.

The Bedrooms
All bedrooms are luxuriously decorated, providing the utmost comfort and elegant country style. Guests can enjoy peace and tranquillity, although located only a short distance from Gatwick Airport, guests can rest assured that they will not be disturbed by low flying aircraft, as they are not in a flight path, but may get to see some deer, sheep or cows grazing peacefully.

Restaurant 1881
In Restaurant 1881, the golden wood panelling glows amid the soft colours of the furnishings in the candlelight, a coal fire in winter enhances the atmosphere, but romance or not, successful business is also discussed at these fine tables. The food is fresh and presented with pride. Dishes can be adjusted to specific tastes. The menu reflects International Cuisine and individual choice of wine from the 200 Bin International Wine List can only add relish to the meal.

Rooms were freezing cold, even tried using th ehair dryer to warm the place up. The bathroom was dirty and shower head never been cleaned - staff were not interested in helping out

The hotel is lovely when you arrive but bring a coat if staying in winter, room took over two hours to heat up, the bathroom was dirty and TV signal was poor! I you get a chance visit the floor mill nearby - beautiful

Following a long business day along the South coast this hotel was just what we needed. From the drive towards the hotel we knew we were in for a treat and were not dissapointed when the hotel came into view. We were recieved in a couteous and professional manner with little fuss. Shown to our rooms, we found them clean, comfortable, bit chilly but […] then again it was bloody cold outside and didnt take long for the rooom to heat up and with everything we needed. Beds were comfy and the attention to detail both decorative and the way the staff helped was amazing. The duty manager gave us a grand tour of the building and had a lot of historical knowledge. A busy buisness trip along the south coast required a good night at a hotel and boy were we treated well. From the moment we arrived we were catered for with no fuss or troubles. Polite, professional and friendly staff made the stay the best I have had. The staff constantly went above an beyond and that was most welcome and a rare thing these days. […] The porter had a weaalth of knowledge about this hotel and gave us a free tour. Hotel was clean, well decorated, relaxing and just what we needed. Depite the hotel overbooking resulting in our romantic weekend being cut short - it became a one day stay instead of two days- the building was everything we expected. Full of character and interesting features. We would love to actually spend a whole weekend there next time instead of having to move out in a rush at 11.00 am after one night..
