Would like to have had a min frig and microwave. Ice machine would have been nice to.I would stay again if only for a night or two any more than two nights would not because of no frig and microwave or ice machine.Genuine Expedia guest review
"WORST HOTEL EVER"
TERRIBLE ROOM - NO STAFF - LIMITED PARKING -NO AMENITIES - NOT NEAR RESTAAURANTS - UNCOMFORTABLE BED - ANYWHERE BUT IN THE KEYS THIS $109 ROOM WOULDN'T FETCH $ 29. HISTORIC SHOULDN'T MEAN OLD AND DECPREPIT. DO NOT STAY HERE!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Serious health issues"
There were several issues with the room, which led to me not being able to stay in it; (a) there was no soap or water pressure to take a shower or wash my hands, (b) the remote for the TV did not work, (c) there were two dark black curly hairs on the toilet seat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was the cheapest hotel in the region. It was clean and comfortable. The room was small and little cramped. It was fine for an overnight stay. Cafe Mocha next door was excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is nice but there were a lot of hairs in the shower and around the bed. The mattress made a lot of noise. Ok.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was very spacious and comfortable. But no one cleaned the room and you had to pay extra for towels.Genuine Expedia guest review
Untraditional check-in with no customer service (pick up a phone receiver to get a code to retrieve your key). Otherwise, perfect hotel for a younger couple on a budget!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Descent Hotel, hard to find late at night"
A little weird that we never actually spoke with anyone that worked at the hotel. We picked up our keys at a lockbox, and dropped them off in the return box. Room was fine we had a good night's rest with paper thin walls. I would stay there againGenuine Expedia guest review
"Don't stay HERE!!!"
When you arrive, there is a lobby with only a telephone. You call a person who says the lock box with your key will be ready in the afternoon. There are NO hotel personnel at the hotel. We came back after the Marathon Seafood festival and got our room key in the lock box. Our room was CLOSEST to US 1 in the front of the hotel. The windows were PAPER […] thin and it was like we were on the shoulder of the highway!! We did not sleep at ALL since we could hear EVERY vehicle that passed on the highway. The blinds were bamboo that had NO cover. There was a mobil sign on the sidewalk in front of the hotel that said rooms were $79.00. My total payment was $139.88. I would not stay here again if they gave me the room for FREE!!! If you DON'T like to sleep, stay at this hotel!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Stay.... Room was Hugh!"
Room was better than expected after reading previous reviews. It was very spacious and had four beds and a nice kitchen. Arrived late, picked up keys from lock box (prearranged with hotel personel) left very early next morning to go on a fishing charter. It was clean and very convenient for our quick overnight stay. Will definately stay again :)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stay away !!"
No one on site !! Had 2 rooms. One or the other had no towels, no TV, could not control or turn off air, had pull plug to turn out light. Overall it was lousy at best !!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Historic Tavernier Inn Hotel"
The historic hotel is old & small, yet well maintained. We found it quaint and adorable! The hot pink Bouganvillea were in full bloom and I was able to capture some stunning photos against the pink exterior, white shutters, and blue sky...which added to the feeling that you were on holiday! We have driven past this place for years on the way down to […] Key West and always wanted to stay there one day...finally did. There seems to be no on-sight employee...at least not while we were there...but we never needed anything, so that did not matter. Other guests staying there all seemed happy & friendly and the place felt very safe. Some people had dogs, so I am guessing the hotel is pet friendly...which we LOVE! The room was tiny & pretty bare, but clean & sufficient for our overnight visit. There is sooo much they could do to inexpensively decorate the rooms with tropical touches and still keep the price down, but it truly lacked in this dept. We are NOT fussy people and found the place fine for an overnight, but we did admit that it would be pretty cramped and bare bones for a week vacation. There are PLENTY of great restaurants to get some good meals and listen to some wonderful music nearby, and cute little streets to meander and/or ride your bike down. It is a perfect little stop over on your way to and from the end of the road...or just to relax and enjoy the slower pace on the keys in between! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pay a bit more and go somewhere nicer."
I shopped this quite well before trying the Tav. And I understand that you get what you pay for. This is an older place, and I get that. But the cleanliness was poor, a clump of hairs stuck to the bathroom (shower, no tub) wall that I'm not sure how anyone could miss. Gross. When I wiped down the end tables next to the bed I got black and hairs on my […] Clorox wipes. Opened one of the drawers and saw the same. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It was a place to sleep."
My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights. I wish we would have researched better. We were in a small room with a king size bed, small closet, small "vanity" (no lighting or outlets), two bedside tables, a standup shower (with slight mold and mildew), cramped toilet (my 5'9 boyfriend's knees touched the wall), old window unit A/C (the small window […] above it had a view of an alley), and small flat screen TV. I'm used to hotels with the sink and vanity separate from the bathroom with room to put on makeup/do hair/etc. and at least a mini fridge and coffee pot. This hotel had a shared fridge downstairs, a soda machine, and washer and dryer. There was no ice maker or front desk reception. It was very bed-and-breakfast-esque (minus the breakfast). I would stay here again if it were only for a night, but wouldn't recommend for multiple nights. When I found someone to ask for clean towels, the staff said they thought they charged for them and seemed confused by my question. The doors and walls are pretty thin, so you hear hustle and bustle during the day. We slept okay, but I was concerned that the door to the outside was broken on the second floor. (So, anyone could enter the building). You're only provided one key per room. Parking was also a hit or miss. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I would not go back!"
There is no pool! Parking is VERY limited. We were afraid to move the car and not get a spot later that night. No one works at the hotel so if you need help you have to call the service phone! Just not what we are used to. ONE NIGHT ONLY!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No one there to service"
Booked this for an employee to stay b/c of having an assignment close to Key West.. she didn't stay b/c it didn't look safe.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old, but Clean"
Historic - by the name it is obvious this is not a new building. Our room was clean, the beds comfortable, and the history of the building interesting.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Waste of money"
The toilet in my room didn't flush, and it takes about 15 minutes to get any hot water out of the shower. VERY small room, very low water pressure. Not worth the money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Historic Tavernier Inn Hotel"
Very much an efficiency hotel. Tiny room with only amenities is that of a TV. A decent place to sleep for the night, but that's about it. Under-lit bathroom, but essentially a clean place. Limited parking in a very dark lot. Hotel desk is not attended at anytime, and uses a lock-box method to pick up your key. Questionaire asks to rate hotel service, […] but there is none. "Clean place to sleep"
If you looking for just a clean place to sleep at a reasonable price, this place is not to bad. Old hotel with small rooms and no aminities. Nice bakery and coffee just next door. "Most Unusual Hotel"
The check in process with no front desk staff was most unusual. I did OK but the folks behind me had a terrible time getting an answer when they picked up the phone 15-20 minutes & were very frustrated. I travel a great deal for work & have never had to do Housekeeping's job by stripping the bed. You must be very adventurous to stay here.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Ok for passing thru"
The price was great. That should have been a clue. There was absolutely no water pressure in the shower. The bed had nice, clean linens and blankets but the box springs were shot, we both kept falling toward the middle.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Won't be back."
We won't recommend it to anyone but it did the job as far as a place to sleep.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Economic stay in Key Largo"
We had planned a passing thru type of stay... It was perfect for that. Price was right. Maybe better signage re: the self check in process would be helpful. Cute breakfast options right next door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Check in was horrible! Had to pick up a phone in the lobby, no human, had to wait on hold for quite awhile. Did not refresh room on second day. If desperate for a room, then book this place. Otherwise find something else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Noise,Smell and staff were not up to par"
When we arrived to check-in no one was at a desk to check us in. We had to pick up a phone and leave a message on a voicemail and luckily someone came to get us our room key. The room was on the road side in which cars and trucks did not stop all night. There was no insulation or anything to try to block the noise. So long story short, I would not recommend […] this place if you plan to sleep at night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Old room.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good Afternoon- My husband and I just stayed at your Inn this weekend. Checked in on Friday and out yesterday. We had requested an early check in and our room was ready, I would like to thank you for that. We were very unhappy with the status of our room. We have stayed in many places throughout the keys and we completely understand old. That's throughout […] the entire keys. Old is one thing if it were clean. Our room was not. The bed had stains on it which I don't even want to imagine what it was. Thankfully I brought our own sheet, pillows and blankets. The bathroom shower was horrible. We had to wear our flip flops is the shower and my husband put a towel down because of the mold that was in there and on the shower curtain. That is just simply unacceptable and disgusting. The carpet we had to wear our socks because there was an odd smell. Walking by another room we noticed wood floors. That would have been nice. Also we had to use the same towels both days because no one changed them. I feel that the money that I paid for this room was no where near worth it even though it was about $90.00 per night. I am sorry to say that I will not recommend anyone to stay there or even stay there again myself. Respectfully, Michelle Childers Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We were just looking for a place to stop on our way out to Key West. Just to break up the drive. It is an old place, but the bed was very comfortable. You will be right on Highway 1, so not for light sleepers. It is cheap and easy. We would stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
The self check in, I'm not sure. The door slamming all night was not so appealing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place --- don't expect too much."
Finding the hotel was easy. It's conveniently off of Rt. 1. The hotel is old and shos it's age. The neighborhood is quaint and convenient to restaurants, shopping and movie theaters (within walking distance).Genuine Expedia guest review
Good place to stay for Key Largo. Room is basic with floor space. Check-in is by phone in lobby; frig and coffee maker is in laundry room. If back in Key Largo, I'd stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review

No staff at reception. Very old and unkempt.Genuine Expedia guest review
Perfect place to stay for an overnighter in the Upper Keys. Despite some bad on-line reviews (I have stayed in many different hotels in the Keys for years!) this hotel is typical 'Keys'.......and the complaints about the auto-key check in are slightly ridiculous.....you pick up a phone, person on other end gives you a code, you remove your room key. "Inexpensive, historic, but..."
For an old hotel, it's okay, but too close to highway made our room noisy. Moldy, musty smell. No wifi. Glad we had our hotspot. But Cafe Moka next door is awesome.Genuine Expedia guest review
Other than the noise all night, must be part of the mystique., OKGenuine Expedia guest review
"Get what you paid for"
It was nice to be in an historical building. The room was pretty tiny, and there is no one at the desk, just a number to call. The location is good, but the immediate surrounding area doesn't have much in terms of entertainment. If you have a car it's just a short drive to nightlife and other activities. Since it was one of the cheaper accommodations […] on New Years, it wasn't bad. There is complimentary laundry (bring your own soap) in the common room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
