Hotel has been modernly refurbished. Extremely nice room. Food at the bar was adequate and the staff was professional and friendly. Cant imagine a nicer place for the price in SIttingbourne

Great location to the train station. Cab is a fiver and you can walk to the Dover castle in about 30 minutes--we chose the downhill and a cab up to the castle Leave yourself time as we were not expecting all of the WWII history and would love to go back to learn more about the Castle. The View from our room was the Channel and the hotel is quite a little gem. The Staff was very helpful and made us feel at home.

Very typical, better than average British hotel. I took my mother for a couple of days and we each had a single room. The single rooms are probably not typical of the main double rooms, so I can't comment on the bigger rooms. The single rooms were very tiny, as my mother described "children's rooms". Very, very basic, with tiny bed and hardly room to turn around, bathroom with shower the same. Also I guess single rooms are the worst as they face the street which was somewhat noisy late at night and drafty (no double glazing). But overall it was clean and the staff very nice. Included breakfast is good as mentioned by everyone, and you don't have to stick to the menu, they will make whatever you want. The food in the bar is just that, bar food, rather oily roasted veg and soggy fries, nothing to right home about. (Go up the road to Cafe 54 for really good food). Bar staff very nice, let me sample beer before buying! Broadstairs in the winter is pretty dead, Dickens museum and Bleak House both closed, so 2 nights was plenty long enough, but it made a nice break for walks on the sandy deserted sandy beach.

This was not a "Chrome & Glass" 5-star job, but a very good country pub with very acceptable bedrooms and good food. Considering the price, excellent value and we would definitely stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice and quiet - traditional pub"
Very good, Hotel is a traditional pub with rooms. the rooms are OK but could probably do with a little TLC. However, the location is idylic and the pub atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I stayed there 1 night on my own but was not short of comany (both form Humans and dogs!). Food was excelent and reasonably priced. Breakfast was alos good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent position"
We enjoyed our stay here after a long drive through france. The hotel was relaxing in a beautiful village . Service was generally good. Some of the furnishings were a little tired but very clean. breakfast was full english or whatever u requested within reason. "In need of Refurbishment"
Basically it is a pub with rooms. Reception poor. Room had large damp patches on walls, and shower was taped up. Breakfast was poor and had obviously been kept warm for too long. Mushrooms were almost inedible.Would not return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent stopover with minor flaws"
Overall we found the Castle hotel to be excellent, with a combination of good food and beer and a decent room. The only nitpicks were the room needed a lick of paint here and there and the playhouse in the garden (the only child friendly part) was unusable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
All the pleasures of a village pub with the convenience of proximity to the Eurotunnel. Excellent beer, pub food and smiling, helpful service. "Ticks all the boxes!"
If you're looking for a 5* hotel then this isn't for you but it was ideal for us. We needed somewhere to stay over after a friend's wedding without breaking the bank & this hotel was perfect. It was a sentimental journey for me, as I spent my childhood in the area. The Castle Hotel is ideal in position close to the sea in a nice little village,although a bit of through traffic. Lovely staff, good breakfast and a spotless room with a four poster bed. Sadly our room had suffered from a damp problem and was a bit musty. "a real surprise"
we had booked into this hotel for the night on our way to France. We were really surprised with the size and comfort of the room Four poster large bed in a very quiet area. The Hotel is ideally situated for the ports and also for the tunnel. For vistors to the area it also ideal for many of the local attractions. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This is a surprising hotel in an even more surprising location - a short way out of Hythe and you arrive in a village that is like a chocolate box setting. The hotel looks like a typical pub, but the welcome is so warm much warmer than many hotels. Das Hotel liegt in einem hübschen Örtchen. Sehr schnell von Dover aus zu erreichen. Ein Spaziergang lohnt sich. Aber.. es läuft die ganze Nacht (durchaus als Belästigung wahrzunehmen) ein Motor (vielleicht eine Haus-Wasseranlage oder so) und in einem Zimmer verursacht die Toilettenspülung ein durch das ganze Haus hörbares Geräusch! "Hundevenligt"
Jeg syntes de er fantastiskt at man kan have 5 hunde med på et hotel værelse uden at betale ekstra. De er oven i købet velkomne, husets hund går selv rundt nede i pubben og der er en hunde vandskål i det ene hjørne.
