"Nice Hostel in Bellavista"
Awesome hostel in the Bellavista area of Santiago. Friendly staff. No issues with hot water or such. Big friendly dog on site. I didn't think to bring an electrical adapter and they had a loaner for me. I can't complain although I didn't expect a Hilton or 4 Seasons either. Great value for the price!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great budget choice in Bellavista"
Safe, clean, and good location. Not the most exciting decor inside, but at the price and location a good deal. Design and higher price are next door at the Hostal Caracol. Short stroll to the heart of Bellavista, hipster and foodie center of Santiago. Manager Luis was helpful with directions for taking care of errands and appointments in parts of the city that guide books don't cover.
"Good basic hostel Great Location"

Ideally located for downtown Santiago and the clubs and bars of the Bellavista area. The hostel is spotless but could do with a lick of paint. We stayed in a double room with shared bathroom. I thought that the bathroom to rooms ratio was rather low. Security was high with remoted controlled external gate from the road. There was a little noise as people passed by late at night but did not stop us sleeping well. It was great value hostel for the location
"Perfect location, great staff, beautiful dog :)"
I stayed here in room 4 for 4 nights late Oct12. I really enjoyed the whole experience including the friendly dog - My leg will always remember you fondly. Thanks for a great stay Nora, Alberto & staff! See you next time.

it was a great stay in the Hostel, friendly staff, good music, nice breakfast! and everything its clean. The neighborhood is perfect a lot of bars, restorants, an highlights place, in general everything is ok, sometimes its a bit noisy outside in the street. I like the Hostel!
"Five stars for its location, but three for its noise"

Whatever you do, don't stay in room #3. It's right outside the check in desk and front door. Since hostel is near a lot of cool bars, you can imagine the noise late at night and early in the morning. Also, the security seemed very minimal. The gate and the front door weren't locked when we came in at night, and it seemed like anyone could easily come through our window. We asked to switch rooms the second night, and it worked out much, much better upstairs. The location is really nice. I loved all the bars, restaurants, and general atmosphere of the Bella Vista neighborhood. You are also within walking distance of a lot of tourist spots. Cab ride from the airport, however, is very pricy. Oh, and on that note, I arranged for two airport pickups through Hostel del Barrio and no one showed up for either one. We got a cab just fine luckily. The great location, free breakfast, and friendly staff are what makes this a good, four-star hostel.
Excellent location in a "must see" neighborhood, near to everithing you want, clean, staff very friendly and willing service. I recommend the rooms that not facing the street, because on weekends there may be some noise (not much anyway). The only complaint was a mix up with our reservation, which forced us to stay in a room with shared bathroom despite having booked a room with private bathroom!!. Otherwise, just excellent. Thanks Gonzalo, Nohra and other members of staff!
"Good location in Bellavista"

We had 2 nights at the hostal in Aug. We booked a double room with private bathroom. When we arrived the previous occupants had taken the room key with them so there was no way the lock the room door! While the staff were waiting for the locksmith to arrive, they offered us a double room with a shared bathroom but we thought both the room and bathroom looked dodgy and unorthodox. We decided to store our bags and wait for the lock to be fixed. It was fixed about 8 hours later at around 10pm! Breakfast was very nice. The hostal is in a good location in Bellavista close to alot of restaurants, bars and museums. Overall a good stay but perhaps not the best value for money.
"A fabulous hostel"

Myself and my partner spent 3 nights at Hostal del Barrio in March 2012 and were very impressed. We paid 20,000 Chilean Pesos a night for a double room, with a shared bathroom, including a hot shower, and breakfast. Our room was spacious and clean, as was the shared bathroom. The communal areas, such as the area out the front of the hostel was a lovely area to chill out, speak to other travellers or Christian (the owner), and use the free wi-fi, which usually had a very strong signal. The breakfast was brilliant, very filling, better than many of the South American hostels we have stayed in. The location of the hostel is ideal - close to the bars and restaurants, not a very long walk to the centre of Santiago and the nearby San Christobal hill is worth a look. Christian, the owner, was incredibly helpful and friendly. Definitely a hostel worth staying in. The only slight quibble would be that sometimes the toilet paper had run out in the bathrooms, but nothing that couldn't be sorted quickly.
"Beautiful and cosy"

The germans know their game. This was the third german-run GH we visited while in Southern America and weren't disappointed. The guy who runs the place is a great character and very helpful. Our room was on the 2nd floor, it was bright with three windows and quite pretty. The outdoor seating area is also very nice indeed and so are the common areas inside the hostel. This place is one of the best hostels I have visited. Only problem is that it can be rather noisy since the common areas are directly next to the rooms and there was no enforced quiet time.
