The owner went out of her way to make us feel welcome and make sure we were well taken care of. She was always there if we needed anything and the breakfasts were excellent. The only disadvantage was the distance from the main area of town.

The Hotel was easy to fine, beautifully decorated, and the staff was very helpful. Our only problem was no wash clothes. We asked at the front desk for wash clothes thinking the cleaning staff just forgot them.. The older man at the desk asked if that was a hygene thing? He didn't have a clue and my sister and I had a laugh and a great story to tell. Great price (off season), good breakfast, clean.

The Ballynahinch was the highlight of our 9 days in Ireland. We stayed for 2 nights and I wish we could have stayed longer. The staff members were... fantastic and they made our stay so enjoyable. We loved sitting in the library in the morning having our coffee with a nice fire. I can not say enough about the food. My husband had a cold seafood platter served on a slate tray that put our Charleston SC resturants to shame. The grounds are so beautiful and we loved all of the walking trails. When my husband and I decided to make a trip to Ireland, there were obviously cities we wished to visit, beautiful natural sites and we knew the drive alone would be breathtakingly beautiful, but I asked that we stay in a castle. He made it happen and we stayed in the Ballynahinch Castle Hotel. It was such a lovely experience. It was simple to find […] and a beautiful view along the way. The entrance is breathtaking. Entering the estate, you pass a gate house (privately owned) to the right and continue across a small bridge to reach the hotel. From the main entrance, the castle does not look very big (most of the pictures provide a backside view), but it is beautiful none the less. It is a rustic building, includes a pub and restaurant. They provide a map of the hotel grounds, fishing spots and trails on the property. The building is well kept and really takes you to a different era. When we walked in we were greeted by very friendly staff and a warm fire place. Our bags were taken immediately by the staff and we were lead to our room personally. The room we had was spacious and had a beautiful view of the river. The food was exquisite! Every meal was perfectly cooked. At dinner we ordered the fish. Every bite just melted in our mouths. We wish we could have stayed longer. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting Co Galway region. Read more
