This was a nice B&B with a friendly staff. From the location you can walk around 15 minutes down the the waterfront and enjoy the restaurants there. The breakfast was good. I would recommend this place.

The Old Rectory is a gem. A beautiful house standing in pretty and well maintanined gardens.The weather during our stay (November) was not very nice but it made the open fires and warm bedrooms evenmore welcoming.Certainly worthy of another visit or two.

The service was excellent. I had an accident and hit my head.which caused extensive bleeding. Judy from the front desk called the ambulance and stayed with me comforting me until the ambulance arrived. I received first aid and did not have to go to the hospital. Judy made sure that I got ice, new towels and linen and even offered to get Paracetemol. She really went out of her way to comfort me

Our stay at Holiday Inn Orwell was very comfortable and I would recommend this hotel to others. I did had one of exceptions on arrival the front desk person was alittle rude. Rude by dismissing my presents and served another person after I had been waiting for service for 5 minutes. Most of the other staff were friendly and extremely helpful.

Very impressed with accommodation. Buffet breakfast selection needs tweaking. Beer selection could be improved. More info regarding food availability could be better advertised in rooms. This is not a criticism merely an observation.. I would definitely stay there again.

This holiday inn express is relatively new and the standard and finish of the room is excellent...spacious, comfortable bed and a roomy clean bathroom. Two things to note is that there is no free WIFI in any of the rooms (expensive day charges) and the hotel suffers from poor mobile reception. Clean new and simple. Kind of high tech in the room, took a bit of figuring out how to get the lights on using the room card. Small room but certainly clean and comfortable. Expedia and the hotel wouldn't let us change the date at all and absolutely no pets allowed. Those were the only negatives. After driving up and down the road, asked at Farm to be told that we had to drive through the garage forecourt.then we saw a sign for Holiday Inn Express.Other than this sign no indication exactly its location post code did'nt help.

Myself and two teenage daughters stayed one night while visiting the local Uni, the room was ideal, Shower great, very clean, helpful staff, but the bed was really soft. value for money though with all you can eat breakfast which was very good.

Unfortunately the room and corridor smelt of smoke. We found out that we were near to the 'smokers' rooms. Something that we shall be aware of next time. The staff were very courteous and the breakfast provided was very good. It was very difficult to find the hotel as we didn't have sat nav!!!!

While the hotel is nice, clean with efficient staff there is nothing else close to the hotel apart from a petrol station. The evening menu is limited although the free breakfast is adequate. Will stay at another hotel in future due to the lack of local amenities

I booked two rooms, one for me, my wife and 16 year old son and the other for my in-laws. On arrival, the hotel looks new and modern. The lobby is open plan with a bar and restaurant area just past the reception. The staff were friendly and welcoming upon arrival but sometimes a little busy as they share duties with the bar as well as reception. The […] room was clean, tidy and well maintained. The bathroom was immaculate and the shower cubicle huge! And the shower was quite good too! The main bed was comfortable with a choice of soft and firm pillows. The only issue was the sofa bed for our 16 year old was very uncomfortable. You could feel the springs through the very thin mattress and he didn't have a good nights sleep. We also had to ask for extra towels, as we were only provided with one bath towel. Otherwise, an excellent stay. The breakfast was a mix of hot and cold buffett. The only thing missing was bacon and maybe a fried egg but for the price, it was all quite good and very filling. Arrived late Sunday, booked in fairly quickly (staff member tending to someone who wanted something from the bar). Room was good, large shower, comfy bed (tho pillows not as comfy), plenty of choice on TV. Breakfast was decent, not the best quality cooked items and they have one of those annoying conveyor belt toasters that either does nothing or burns […] your bread. There were just enough people staying to make breakfast enjoyable and not the scrum it can become in HI Expresses. If items ran out they could be readily replaced if staff were asked. Nice hotel in a lovely location near to both Ipswich and Colchester with constable country on the doorstep. The hotel is kept very clean and comfortable with a good breakfast and is an excellent value for money. Overall we had a very pleasant stay. Unfortunately though, the sofa bed our daughters slept in was not comfortable at all, with the springs almost sticking out of the mattress. Also, we had hoped to have more options for kids in your restaurant, especially as there are no other places to eat or purchase food nearby apart from the garage next door.

Hotel was very good for the price we paid but the breakfast was quite poor, mini pastries that looked pretty dried up and not very much choice. What there was looked pretty unappetizing.

Overall my 3 night stay was great. The bathroom could have done with a little more attention (toothpaste on the outside of the sink). I LOVE the huge shower. My only criticism is the lack of bacon on the breakfast menu, sausages scrambled egg and beans is great for some people but just didn't cut it without bacon for me.
