"Excellent location and close to everything"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The hotel and staff are wonderful and we will definitely stay there on our next visit to Barcelona! The room was very clean and neat and the daily maid service was exceptional. The front desk staff was very professional and courteous. Wi-Fi in the room was excellent. Walking out of the hotel and looking up at the Cathederal every morning was surreal. Beautiful hotel and wonderful location!

The hotel was clean and neat, the staff very helpful, and the bathroom was great. We also found the price fair and reasonable. The view out of the back of the hotel was not the best- apartment back porches and dirty laundry, so keep the curtains closed.

"Unbelievably Great Service"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Stayed for a five night family vacation. Our room for three was very nice with a king bed and sofa bed. Efficiency kitchen with dishes and silverware and cookware. Compact refrigerator. Very well located in Eixample neighborhood one block from metro station. Easy walk to many restaurants and the Passieg Gracia or upper part of the Rambla Cataluna. However the BEST was the service of the front desk. Whatever the request they were ceaseless in their efforts to please and accommodate. Information, directions, recommendations for eating and transportation, ticketing. The staff could not do enough for us. This is service that is rare to find in the amenities industry: a true personal touch. My family can heartily recommend the Acacia Suites for a Barcelona vacation. The only negative for some is that it is not located directly on Plaza Cataluna or the Rambla but if you want a quieter neighborhood, with a local feel it is a very nice place.
"Good and reasonably priced hotel!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
It is easily reached by L99 bus from the airport for 2 EUR. Exit just before police station. Ask the driver to let you know when to exit (police station). After you exit the bus, continue moving forward few hundred yards and turn left to a walk (road) railway overpass. Continue further until you will see the hotel on your left. It is about 10-15 minutes to walk. Railway station is about 25 minutes and the ride to the city is somewhere from 15 -30 minutes depending how many stops. The beach is only 15 minutes walk. I had a great stay, the safe didn't work, and the breakfast was accidentally not included despite I chose the higher rate. Hotels.com told me pay for it and send them receipt to be reimbursed.

Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas. The former is the city's medieval core, a maze of atmospheric alleyways clustered around the splendid Gothic Cathedral. Quirky specialist shops and characterful bars and eateries abound. Don't miss the Museu Picasso and the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, as much for their palatial settings as their content.

"close to la rambla"
enjoyed the hotel. liked the modern decoration and theme. really liked big spacious shower in bathroom.
"Excellent location"
I loved the location of the hotel. The quality of the room was good. There is an annoying light in the bathroom that cannot be turned off and is quite distracting when trying to sleep. Also, the TV always shows the time with no ability to turn it off. My only other complaint is that our room faced Carrer St. Pau and for some reason, people in Barcelona […] like to yell and bang on things when walking down the street at 3 am so I got woken up several nights. I would ask for a room facing the central courtyard. At least you won't get woken up by these strange Spanish people that never seem to sleep. We loved the bar and the restaurant. Stay away from the food on La Rambla. Your gut will thank you for it. The front desk had excellent suggestions for places to eat. Definitely ask for directions to Bar Canete. Excellent food there. "Great hotel!!"
This was a great hotel. It's a really cool building right off of Las Ramblas; i mean right off. The staff was great and very helpful. We ate in the restaurant which was very good. Great location, great staff, very cool hotel.
"Right off La Rambla, but still quiet"
The Hotel Espana is a great combination of a comfortable, modern hotel with classic deco highlights. Be sure to check out the fireplace in the common lounge. It's also conveniently located right off La Rambla, but is far enough off of the main street that most of the street noise can be avoided. It was a great experience all around, and I will certainly […] be booking this hotel again the next time I'm in Barcelona. Read more
"Great location"
The location was perfect just off of the noise of Las Ramblas. The room was great with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was pricey but convenient. The lighting for applying makeup was a challenge but you can't have everything. I would definately stay there again.
"Hotel Espana - just off La Rambla"
Hotel Espana is in the perfect location to the cruise port, shopping, and it's just off La Rambla where all the action is. The hotel is spotless with nice amenities. Unfortunately, the hotel staff was not very helpful or friendly with where a restaurant was located, any tours from the hotel area, etc. Ask for a room away from the front of the hotel […] due to lots of noise from the street. It's hopping even at 3:30 am. Read more

"Hotel Espana"
This is an older hotel that has been restored to its original early 20th century decor which is very dramatic and interesting. The rooms however are very contemporary, large by European standards, very comfortable, very clean, quiet. The location, about a half block from La Rambla and two blocks from the famous food market, is excellent. We had dinner […] at the hotel restaurant which was very good although portions were rather small. Read more
"Enjoyed our stay"
This is a beautiful historic building. The location was fabulous. We felt as safe there as anywhere in Barcelona. Lots of things in easy walking distance. We had a Deluxe room which had a view of the interior "courtyard". Not much to look at but it was very quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
"Espana Barcelona - awesome hotel"
This hotel is very modern and is perfectly located in the middle of Barcelona within walking distance to lots of sights. Really a great hotel!
great hotel but if you are driving, impossible to get to
"Hotel Espana -beautiful hotel close to La Rambla"
Although beautifully restored and modernly furnished, the location was less than desirable due to noise from people's voices walking below our window. Understandable for being in the gothic quarter, but not to our liking. Walking distance to Picasso Museum, cathedral, good tapas at Ferran.
Hotel located very close to main street - Las Ramblas. Our room was very "spanish modern" - nice and clean. Lobby of hotel very interesting. Good experience. Nice rooftop bar and also nice main level bar with adjoining restaurant.
"Hotel Espana - close to Las Ramblas"
Hotel was very nice, only downfal, the pool was not open during our stay.

"great place for the weekend"
really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. very central location and newly rennovated. A few hundred meeters down Sant Pau gets pretty dodgy though.
"Hotel Espana - Close to the action"
Beautiful architecture. Modern rooms. Great location. It is just off Las Ramblas the main avenue and a block from La Boqueria (the marketplace). Also a short walk into the Gothic section. If you are looking for a comfortable, convenient hotel that feels uncrowded and even elegant, this is the place.
"Great Hotel!"
Stayed at the hotel Espana for 4 days march 2011. Great hotel and great service. Good prices. Just been bumped from 2 to 4 stars. Totally renovated hotel. Close to la Rambla.

"Hotel Espana, Barcelona - excellent location"
Couldn't beat the location of this hotel and although it is right in the midst of things it is quiet as it is down a side street just off Ramblas. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was modern and very clearn. It was excellent value for money. Doesn't have great views because of its location but you only have to step outside to soak up the […] atmosphere of central Barcelona. Convenient to metro and buses and within walking distance of the harbour. Read more
"Hotel Espana, Barcelona. Excellent!"
Location superb, next to the Metro (important in big cities), close to the old town of Barcelona, and walking distance to the major sightseeing things. The hotel itself had an extraordinary architecture from late 1800. This combined with a modern look at the room's interior made an exiting combination. Nice, english speaking staff and a fair price. […] We can strongly recommend it. Read more
"Efficient and relaxing"
Hotel Espana.... Barcelona. Really enjoyed my recent stay, location perfect, relaxed polite staff support, excellent facilities.... Thank you.
"Amazing hotel right off Ramblas"

"A beautiful newly renovated modern hotel"
Very worthy of the 4 star rating, beautiful hotel, great service, fantastic room!
"Thanks for a great week"
We stayed at Hotel Espana which I found on Internet. The visit fullfilled our expectations more then enough. Thank you all for a nice visit.

Location location only. But the style of hotel is very good. Very easy to access all sightseeing point. Font desk girl was only one can speak English and helpful to solve problem.
"Nice, elegant hotel"
This is a good and stylish hotel. If there is anything to complain about then the rooms are rather small. The service is good BUT be aware of the hotels recommendation regarding restaurants. The reception manager sent us to a large and VERY touristy restaurant by the Olympic harbour (quite far away). Being dressed up and coming from such an elegant […] hotel then this was not what we expected. It is obvious that the restaurant is paying the hotel staff commission for sending their guests to the restaurant. Read more
"Hotel Espana Barcelona"
We found the hotel to be very conveniently located, close to the Ramblas and trains. The service was very good and staff very helpful and the rooms very comfortable.
We would have liked to tried the food at your hotel but it was far too expensive.but we found good food at reasonable prices nearby. Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you.
"Hotel Espana - great value for money"
Great hotel with great service. The rooftop pool bar was fantastic even though the pool is very small. The hotel rooms were very clean and modern. Shame they didn't have free wifi that would have made it a lot better Overall definitely a 4 star hotel and I would reccomend to others
"hotel espana"
GREAT HOTEL, in a great location. Beach is a fun and short 10 min walk away, la ramblas is a one minute walk away, and great shopping is a 5-10 minute walk away. Very nice staff and very clean and modern rooms. Only negative is the pool, it more of a large size tub. The rooftop has a great bar which is open late. Loved the hotel!

Staff very helpful. Only feedback is that wifi should be free in a hotel of this calebar as it was in seville and granada. Breakfast was very overpriced. We went to local place off las ramblas and had breakfast for 2 and free wifi for under 10 euro
"hotel espania near las ramblas"
A great location adjacent to the Las Ramblas. Within easy walking distance to all the major site seeing attractions. Hotel benefits from an extensive renovation with no expense spared. Good, clean boutique style bedrooms, hoiwever the lighting is very poor and my wife had difficulty applying her makeup. Staff friendly restaurant breakfast was excellent […] but expensive 20 euros each. The quality of the food was very good. Read more
"Hotel Espana - really central location"
This was our first stay at Hotel Espana and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is lovely although the rooms are a bit on the small side but big enough for a few days stay. Unfortunately work was still being carried out on the pool (this was one of the main reasons for booking this hotel), we were told it is now going to be July before it would be opening!! […] The staff were all very friendly and the location is superb as you about halfway down Las Ramblas so very central. I had booked a Deluxe Room and on seeing the room was slightly disappointed as it didn't appear to be the deluxe on their website but on querying this I was told there had been an error and we had been put into a standard but we were immediately upgraded to an Executive with a lovely balcony where we could soak up some rays. Very enjoyable stay and would certainly return to this hotel. Read more
"Hotel Espana nearly finished"
though the Hotel was billed as having finished its renovation work at the beginning of October it is still going on. On arrival it was a bit like a building site. However, we were fortunate enough to expereince the completion of the renovation of the ground floor communal spaces and pretty stunning they are. It is now possible to stay at the Hotel without […] really noticing that some renovation is still going on for example the top floor pool etc are not accessible. apparently the works are now scheduled to complete by the end of November. The entertaining thing was getting back to the room on each of the first two days of our stay to find something else had ariveed - a fridge on day one and a sofa on day 2!! We would strongly recommend the hotel - great location, very friendly and helpful staff and brilliant decor inside. Read more
"Bra hotell med noen få minus"
Veldig stilig hotell, tøff arkitektonisk og pene rom. Små minus på rommet er en dusj som lekker slik at man må tørke en vannpytt etterpå, samt en lite kald minibar. Altså bare bagateller. Bra rengjøring. Grei service på hotellet, men intet mer enn hva vi ba om. Noen ganger er jo det helt ålreit. Frokosten er dyr og asketisk. Varmretter må man betale […] tillegg for. Stilige rom. Anbefales. Read more
Read more
"Helt ok"

"séjour de rêve!!"
hotel de toute beauté, proche à pied de tous sites a visiter, de la sagrada famillia au port, plein centre du vieux Barcelone le "gothic" a 100m, séjour très agréable sans souci, je conseillerai cet hotel a tous mes amis, architecture rare peut être même classé!! très romantique dans son contexte

"Hotel Espana i Barcelona"
"Hotell Espania Barcelona"
Fint Hotel, men trangt på rommene. Dyr frokost. Et stort antall bedre alternativer like i nærheten dersom økonomi spiller noen rolle.
