"Great hotel and great staff!"
We really enjoyed our stay at Cleomenis. The view from our room was spectacular and the hotel was just far away enough from town as to create a quiet, peaceful atmosphere but close enough to walk to town or to the beach. We would definitely recommend Cleomenis to our friends.Genuine Expedia guest review

The staff is absolutely wonderful. This is a budget hotel and if you expect 5 star hotel room and service then keep on looking. This is a great hotel for the price and service. I'll come back and stay with them anytime.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Perfect Island Visit"
My family loved the island of Samos. Honestly, I would have rather stayed in Turkey or be on the Peloponnesian Peninsula. However, I'd come back to this hotel in a heartbeat, even finding a reason to stopover on Samos. The family who runs it is absolutely charming and wonderful. Beautiful rooms with sea views; great breakfast, wonderful island hospitality. […] A+++++ Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean family run hotel"
The hotel is located about a 20 minute walk uphill from town. The room is very clean but basic. The triple share room we had was a bit tight on space with no seaview and was street facing, but had a nice size balcony. The breakfast is also basic with a very small selection with the offer of a toasted sandwich as well. The family who own and run this […] hotel are all very nice and friendly, with the lovely Joanna always there to look after guests needs, answer any questions and offer restaurant recommendations. "Great for an overnighter"
What gives this rather unextraordinary hotel an advantage are the staff. They were helpful with requests and, as we were leaving on an early ferry and would miss breakfast, they organised to have a small breakfast selection out for us to 'self-cater' in the early hours of the morning. Easy walk into the town. Can recommend the Artemis restaurant for […] great local food and only 8 or 9 minutes from the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very hopitable people, awesome view, close to beach, very clean, quite and relaxing. Hosts helped with book onTurky ephasus, they were very accomodating. I was a little faint one dsy I was touched that the family offered me a vitamin and bread with garlic dip scordalia for a pick me up which it did physically and emotionally. Felt like home!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Really hospitable- recommend!"
We stayed here one night on the way to turkey, but wished we could have stayed longer! Very sweet owners of the hotel- gave us great dinner recommendations and made us feel very welcome. 10 minute walk to the old port of Samos, a charming boardwalk with lots of shops right on the water. Great weekend getaway location!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Hotel is run by family and I have never seen such a friendly people in any hotels I have stayed before. Apart from room was comfortable and clean. We had a very nice view at balcony. Finally hotels location and price was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Cleomenis hotel overlooks a small bay about 15 minutes' walk from the centre of Samos town. The small family hotel is managed by a young brother and sister, who did everything possible to make us welcome and well cared for. The rooms were simple and clean, and a nice feature was the semi-open lounge space overlooking the bay, and provided with fast […] wifi. My family appreciated the owners' attention during our short stay and would return without hesitation. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great views, walk to Gagou beach/town, family-run"
Solid breakfast, extremely friendly and helpful, totally family run. The rooms were spotless with fantastic views. Our only complaint was that our double room had two twin beds instead of one full or queen bed. This is a really great place and deserves more service. We had a fantastic, romantic, well-cared-for weekend here and hope that others can do […] so too. Note: You do NOT need a cab from downtown/the port if you are comfortable walking for 7 minutes.

"Nice location a short walk from the port"

The view from the room was excellent with a small balcony. A family run hotel and very accommodating. No drinks available other than tea and water but you are welcome to bring your own. Breakfast was good and sufficient. The walk from the port was uphill and took about 20 minutes.
"Great hospitality and close to beach"

We walked dragging bags uphill for about 15-20 minutes from Vathi port, it was very hot and we were tired and irritable. However, once we arrived and Joanna and her mother greeted us with big smiles, we felt better. The room was basic and in need of updating – no tea making facilities, no soap, no hair dryer, very small shower. However, there is air con and a spectacular sea and beach view if you have a sea-facing room. Wi-fi available in the lobby. The Mediterranean breakfast was fantastic - tomatoes, cucumbers, feta cheese, olives, yoghurt, cereal, tea/coffee, toast. Tip: if you’re leaving Samos via Karlovassi, spend the 8 euro to get you and your bags to the bus station instead of dragging bags across town. A good stay,

Conveniently located hotel, 15 minutes away from ferry port (for boats departing to Turkey), and 20 minutes away from the town's main square. The phenomenal Gagkou beach is a mere few hundred meters away, and most rooms have splendid view of this beach and its turqoise waters. All rooms have got refrigerator, air conditinoner (included in price), and TV (view from balcony was so breath-taking, we never had occasion to turn it on!). Hot water is plenty and available at all times. Beds and furniture are humble, but sheets, towels and bathroom were truly spotless. Free wifi is available in the reception area. Breakfast is basic with feta cheese, olives, tomatoes, boiled eggs, jam, and flakes. But they go out of their way to serve warm sandwiches stuffed with cheese and turkey meat, too. The young brother-sister running the place are fluent with English, carry a big smile all the time, and try their best to help with everything. There are few groceries few minutes away where you can buy the basic needs. Also, halfway to the town center are some tavernas, cafes, as well as the three smartest outdoor seaside bars in Vathi (such as Mezza Volta) -- situated on the waterfront, those are must see places -- you'll understand what we mean when you get there. Gagkou beach below has nice clean taverna (tough a bit on pricy side). There is a 3 euroe / person charge to use beach chairs and umbrellas. Overall, both thumbs up for Cleomenis Hotel....
"Wonderful, warm, family hotel. The real thing. And the view!"

If you are looking for a warm, friendly, real Greek Hotel, the Cleomenis is wonderful. This was the second year I have returned to the Cleomenis, run by a sweet, kind family who is eager to please. The balcony view from our room was priceless, the hotel is sparkling clean. You can walk into town and to one of the best restaurants on the island. One of the nicest beaches is right below the hotel. The family will do anything to help you. I can't wait to go back to the Cleomenis. Just love it !

So hospitable - truly the best in a family run hotel. They offer coffee or tea throughout the day and even woke up very early to prepare our breakfast as we caught the first boat to Kusadasi. Very clean but not fancy. Get a room with the ocean view - you can see the sunset every night. A perfect place to stay and relax.

Cleomenis is a traditional hotel under the management of a wonderful family.Johanna, her dear mother and brother deal with every problem that you have, from illnesses to car renting. With a baby of 1.5 years, we were very well accomodated. The view of our room was wonderful. The price is very affordable. The breakfast was basic, tasty and sufficient. It is also very close to a beatiful beach, to the port, to the hospital and to a mini-market. Thank you on behalf of my family.

The huge advantage for this hotel are the staff. Super helpful and acommodating. We had an early ferry so would be missing the breakfast but the staff organised to have a selection of food items out in the early hours of the morning so we coukd 'self-cater'. Nice view from our room and clean and comfy. Just an overall jaded and dated look. Eady walk of about 10 minutes into town. Can recommend Artemis restaurant for great local food and just a 9 minute walk from the hotel.
"Kindness and hospitality that surpass all!"

We walked from the Vathi Port to Hotel Cleomenis for about 20 minutes, though was alil tired from the walking but trust me, once you met the hosts, their helpfulness, kindness and hospitality surpass all! They made me felt like a friend to them, rendering all the help they could. I experienced sincerity and kindness! Thank you Hotel Cleomenis for such a wonderful experience. I do hope I can visit again! The room was basic but has an awesome sea view! We booked it through booking.com for 40 euros/night, reasonable price. I would strongly recommend anyone to stay there. Don't let the distance stop you from going!
"Great budget accomodations"

Like many have said Cleomenis is very clean and tidy. The facilities are old, but they are not in a state of disrepair nor in bad quality. The staff is very nice and helpful, especially when I was in the stressful situation of not knowing how I would get to my next country from Greece. The location is a few kilometers outside of Samos Town, but I enjoyed the walk to and from Samos Town. The view from the balcony is great too. Some cons are that wi-fi is only available in the lobby and sound travels quite easily down the corridor. I heard someone two doors down snore quite loudly through the night in my room, but it's nothing a pair of ear plugs can't remedy. There was no street traffic noise. CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN.
"The kind of place I came to Greece for"
10/03/13 asar Mexico City
Cleomenis Hotel is a scrupulously clean, tremendously friendly, and truly beautiful gem of a hotel on the island of Samos. The entire family endeavours to supply you with all your needs, from a delicious breakfast (grandma will make sure you eat enough) to all the tips you could need to explore the island. The view from the breakfast room and half the rooms is that of a wonderful bay, but even in the non-sea view rooms you will enjoy looking out the window. Out of curiosity we explored a few other hotels in the island, and the more we saw the happier we were that we stayed here. Regarding location, the beach nearby was very pleasant. The restaurants located at this end of town are far tastier and better value than the most central ones, and you're also better located for the town's couple of nice seaside bars. I often stay at far more expensive American five star chain establishments with price tags in the hundreds of dollars. Many have a lot to learn from small, excellent value, welcoming Cleomenis.
