This was a great stay. The room was huge and comfortable with a nice canopy bed, plenty of storage, and a nice TV. View was amazing as we could see the ocean from our 3rd floor room. The bathroom was very large with a giant tub that easily fit 2. The shower was lovely and a nice size, though the water pressure could of been a bit better. The location of this hotel was perfect. We came in at Edinburgh Waverly and several buses (5, 44, 113, 24X) all stop RIGHT in front of the hotel. There is an ASDA (walmart super store) with a wonderful breakfast cafe about 10 minutes walk. Porto Bella is about 15 minutes away which is a gorgeous little beach front area with an amazing cafe in the swim center that makes homemade food. The bus will get you into Edinburgh in about 30-45 minutes. Edinburgh castle, Arthur's seat, the Parliament, etc is all there. One of the best hotels I have stayed in at a great price. The Bistro, Bar and Restaurant downstairs were good but very expensive.

Very clean with excellent staff. Free breakfast was generous and tasty. About a 10 minute walk from Prince's Street. Great place for the money. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Thanks Hotels.Com.

Nice hotel but a lot of smaller errors, like cracks and markings on the walls and a minor malfunctioning toilet. The service wasn't too good, it said on the website they had baggage storage but when we asked they told us to leave it in the corner of the lobby... At our own risk!

In a very convenient location for everything but still quiet enough to enjoy. The only criticism was the bathroom that had absolutely nowhere for our toiletries. How much does it cost to put up a modest shelf?

To be fair, it feels like the Ballantrae Hotel is halfway done through refurbishment. When you come in, the hall and the lounge are beautiful, really cosy and well designed - same feeling in the staircase and in the room. But then our bathroom was really average and quite badly located, with its door right next to my pillow (which caused nauseous smells […] to flow towards me whenever my partner would come in or out the bathroom). The biggest disappointment was the breakfast: bad coffee, weak buffet and unimpressive kitchen wide open on the staircase. All in all, perfect for a romantic week-end on a small budget, but find another solution for the breakfast. Read more

Good room, very big. Only down side to my stay was parking.....there is none. I had to find a single yellow line 400 mtrs away. Other than that it was faultless.

We were delighted with our stay. It was very good value, great location (walking distance from city centre). We had a spacious room, the staff was really helpful and the breakfast room was lovely with a relaxing view on trees. Inget för rörelsehindrade och äldre, saknar hiss många och långa jobbiga trappor. Centralt läge men inga p-platser, svårt med parkering därför inget för bilburna. Hög mysfaktor på entré och sällskapsutrymmet, men "sunkig" rumsatmosfär.
