From its hills to its sidewalks, the stars are everywhere in Hollywood. Although most film and TV production today takes place in Burbank, Hollywood retains its mystique. The elite are commemorated with stars on the Walk of Fame and cement handprints at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. The Hollywood & Highland Center shopping and entertainment venue includes the Kodak Theatre, home of the Oscars.
see all hotels in Los Angelescarpet is pretty dirty. Some rooms have a smell to it. ... overall. IF you need a cheap place to stay, this place is ok, but don't expect the service to have any accomindation for room service lol
"Noisy room on the street side. Clean and comfy"
Although it was noisy the hotel room was clean and comfortable. The staff was nice and friendly. The hotel is a good deal for being in Hollywood. There is a nice Italian restaurant that is just a minnute walk from the hotel. The room was very noisy on the street side so ask for a room on the alley side. It was an experience staying in this historical […] hotel. Read more
The hotel had a cool vintage feel to it, including the walk up 3 flights to our room since the elevator is either out of order or non existent. Loved the walls lined with movie stars from the golden age of cinema. The bathroom was small, no ventilation for stinky toilet sessions. The bed was a little uncomfortable the first night, but by the second […] night we were so tired we didn't notice it. There was no phone in the room, so you better use your personal cel to contact the front desk. I loved having the mini fridge in the room, it made up for the lack of an ice machine. The curtains were not blackout curtains. The hotel is really close to Korea town, lots of good eats. We went to Universal Studios Hollywood, it was a 15 minute drive, great convenience. The price was a little too high in my opinion, but it overall the stay was satisfactory. Read more
They badly need to replace their beds. They're old, soft and lumpy. Decor is shabby and even though this is a historic hotel the bed spreads need to be changed out. When are they going to get their elevator ever repaired. The only reason I choose to stay there is cost, convenience to Paramount Studios where i work.
"Hollywood"
This place was run by one person, not friendly, had to ask to get our room cleaned ,been gone All day....it was a chore it seemed.Tub wouldnt drain..no wash clothes.DIRTY CARPETS IN LOBBY&stairs, elevator broke, had to call our own cab.IN NEED OF CUSTOMER services classes!i was excited about this trip;the hotel was horrible.
"Quaint Historic Hotel"
We came for an evening activity at the studios, and this hotel was a great location. It is a bit dated in the lobby and stairways, but the rooms have been remodeled and updated. The bathrooms are small since they are old, but clean. The internet service was good. The hotel doesn't have an elevator, but there are only three floors, so the walk up isn't […] too bad. Read more
"Charming historic hotel"
I stayed here with my eight-year-old sister, and we had a wonderful stay. They upgraded us (probably because we checked in at 11pm,) to a larger room with a kitchen which was a very nice gesture. Outside the front door you can see the hollywood sign in the hills. Just down the street is the famous Paramount studios. However, the surrounding area is […] pretty gritty, and far from the sights. All in all, i would recommend this hotel to whoever is visiting hollywood and looking for a charming, reasonable place to stay. Read more
"Get what you pay for"
Its ok for a night but I wouldn't recommend an extended stay. There's really not much to it at all. I'd like more of an experience when I stay at a hotel.
"You get what you pay for"
Well, there were several issues. #1, Elevator was out of service. They do not have first floor rooms, not handicap accessible without elevator. #2, Bed was like a piece of foam on a plywood board. #3, Shut off the water on a Sunday 10am - 4pm. Not sure why they didn't do repair in the middle of the night. #4, Every evening when I came in, my key would […] not work and I was on the 3rd floor. Since the elevator was out, I had to go all the way downstairs, have them rescan my key. Then climb the stairs all the way up to the 3rd floor. I think the hotel was nice at one time, but has gone down hill and needs to be completely redone. It was just okay. I did not get bedbugs and the place did not smell. I wouldn't stay there again. STAY AWAY BUGS!!!
"Good for a simple one-nighter"
The hotel is old (vintage!) and cute. Not super comfy or fancy at all, but perfect for a quick one-nighter. The check-in staff (Espen) was friendly and sweet, offered us information about the area and a dinner recommendation. The nearby area is decent, not scary or anything, but certainly not upscale. The bed wasn't very comfortable and the bathroom […] is small. If you're not getting a very good rate then look elsewhere. If you;re not planning on spending a ton of time in the room it should do the trick! Read more
"Bed bugs!"
got more than 30 bites there!
"Nice location"
Across the street form Paramount Studios. The hotel is old (built in 1927) so the rooms and hallways are very small. It has been updated to a point but there were not enough outlets in the room and not in the right locations. If you're looking for a convenient place to sleep at night while you do the tourist thing it is great though.
"My Location, at Melrose Ca."
I World say, two Things bothered me , Two much steps, Elevator not in service? And The Bath tub was very Old, and Dirty . It has Nottingham to do with Cleaning service Job. Bath tub Should be replced!!!

"Hollywood Historic Hotel Los Angeles"
It was a great hotel. Really enjoyed everything except having to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to our room. Was told on booking we could have a ground floor room due to medical reasons, when we got there we found out there are NO rooms on the ground floor. But other than that. We alwere very pleased with the Hotel
"Hollywood Historical Hotel"
My partner and I were not very satisfied with our stay at this hotel. There was no elevator and we were on the 3rd floor, with lots of bags to carry up 3 flights of stairs. The staff was very nice however.
"Hollywood Historical Hotel"
I Had one of the best customer services in this hotel. I will recommend this hotel anytime.

We enjoyed our stay at this historic hotel and will definately return. I do wish that they had more history of this hotel, maybe they will have done more research by the time we return.
"AWEFUL Hotel"
I just booked this hotel for a friend who was needed a place to stay. I accidentally booked to hotel for the next day. My friend was very ill and was having some pain. They said they would not give her a room. She ended up sleeping in her car all night. When she came to check in the next day they would not honor the reservation saying she was acting […] a lil strange. Um duh she was sick and took her pain medication and was a lil flustered from having to sleep in car all night. These guys are jerks. If this is how they treat a young 23 year old girl who obviously needs a room and has a paid reservation for 2 days, I can't image how they treat others. They said they were not obligated to give me my money back and I am not filing a dispute with my Credit card company. I am furious!!! Read more
This was our second stay in the hotel was very happy the frist time but the bed this time was terrible! We both didn't get much sleep and had back aches in the morning.
"loud nights"
This place has its charms and faults. Among the charms are the history, the location, the architecture, the movie stills on the corridors and the free parking. Its faults include bed bugs, loud stairwells and lack of insulation, homeless people outside (that's Hollywood, not the hotel's fault) and a cleaning staff that doesn't really clean anything. […] I came back to the hotel room to a remade bed, but they hadn't restocked the towels or coffee, and they'd even left a water bottle on the table. There's no phone in the room, but that doesn't matter so much these days. The lamp beside the bed didn't work unless you unplugged the clock or the air conditioner... That's a bit weird. A couple of the clerks were pretty surly, but the morning one was friendly. Overall, the hotel isn't meeting its potential. Read more
"Historic Hollywood Hotel"
Good price for old-fashion charm room. The front desk person (Devon) was very nice and helpful. The room was quiet. The only complaint I have is that the room was cold. I couldn't get the heat to work properly. Other than that, I had a nice stay.
"Historic Hollywood - great downtown location"
Great time at this little 3 story hotel in downtown. Top floor corner room with great view of the hollywood sign. Complimentary gated parking, no food service but a couple vending machines, and 24 hour video security. No elevator but that just adds to the 'historic' atmosphere. This is a great central location for any hollywood adventure. Just blocks […] from Pantages theater, close to the 101 fwy. A must stay for a weekend celebration. Read more

"Not terrible"
My husband and I needed somewhere to stay that wouldn't totally break the bank and this hotel fit the bill. It IS old, it IS quirky. The room was incredibly simple, I think there were only about 3 outlets between the bedroom and the bathroom. But if you're not planning to spend hours in the room, it's just fine. Good location, easy to get to everyt […] hing. Read more
"Nice location--lousy service"
My fiance and I stayed here in order to visit Universal Studios, and at first it seemed like a nice hotel. However, our room was very substandard in that the bathroom floor was slanted like the entire room was going to give in. Also, from the first day of us being there the cable did not work. We informed the desk clerk of the issue, and his method […] of dealing with the problem was coming to the room, jiggling the cord, and then saying "sorry, we'll get a tech out". When we asked to switch rooms, he replied that the entire hotel was sold out, which was impossible because the parking lot was very empty and we had no neighbors next to us the entire duration of our stay (3 days). Also, he never sent a tech out, so we went without cable in our room for three nights. I would only recommend staying here if you are on a tight budget and don't plan on really using the room for anything other than sleeping. Read more

"Hollywood historic hotel"
The hotel was very nice no elevator service which is fine because lazy use it when it's for the disabled. Work it out! Also the street was a little loud but it's new years eve.. Come on. Other than that the room was clean and nice. I'd recommend it to others!

"Near to Hollywood"
Free parking. Free Wifi, but have to live in the middle of the building. You can see the Sign of "Hollywood" if your window face to the street (North). Very convenient and safe neighborhood. 10min to Universal Studio
"great location and free parking"
the room/bathroom is quite small. we had a king bed and there was almost no walking space. the A/C only had cool fan so the hotel provided a small electric heater inside the room. had to turn it on overnight to keep the room warm. At the time when I made reservation at hotels.com, I was told that the hotel would give coupons for wax museums etc., when […] I asked front desk, it said it never had any coupon for tourists. The hotel seemed have free wireless internet, but it turned out the internet was too slow and basically when we opened one webpage, the internet were down and we had to set up connection again. "close to Universal studios, Paramount studios"
This hotel doesn't have the elevator. We need to take the stairs. They have rooms till 3rd floor. The room was good. We were given a king bed which is very bad. cushion is not good. Bathroom was old. The curtain of the bath tub was not installed properly. It is touching to the body when I am taking the shower.
"Classic"
I was told by the receptionist the hotel had been restored two years ago, and I believe they're still working on the top floor. The hotel has a historic feel as you would expect, and the pictures of classic movie stars throughout are very cool. The rooms aren't bad, and even have flat screen TV's. For the location the price isn't bad. The hotel has […] somewhat of a musty smell due to its age, but not bad enough to be a deal breaker. Read more

I chose this place for the price -- cheapest in central LA -- and was impressed. Room was clean, everything worked, comfy bed, free parking, friendly staff.

"Historic Hollywood Hotel"
Good location to downtown LA and not far from CBS Studios and the Fairfax Farmer's Market. Hotel has parking but slots are too narrow. Our rental car was sideswiped and damaged causing an unwelcome problem. NO ELEVATOR so you have to lug your suitcases upstairs or have a porter do it. Rooms are clean and quiet. Good value for the money.
"Get what you pay for I guess"
The location is great. 2 blocks from Paramount Pictures, which is cool. Big problems included no power outlet in the bathroom! Makes it kinda hard to dry your hair! I found an outlet in the closet(!) and when I asked if they had an extension cord, I was told no. The next day when I said I wanted to change rooms if they didn't have a cord, they ran up […] with an extension cord right away. If you are facing the north to see the HOLLYWOOD sign, be prepared to lose a lot of sleep because of all of the traffic right outdside your window on Melrose. Very old hotel and it shows. Read more
"A lucky find"
This seemed like I was stepping back in time. Being a block from Paramount I vision young starlets living here. To get to the room, turn left at Loretta Young, then right at Shirley Temple. This is a no frills hotel-our room had windows on 2 sides, we could see downtown LA on the left, the Hollywood Sign and the Griffith Observatory ahead and Paramount […] to the left. I will stay here in a minute. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. Read more
