"Basic accommodations but only if you are a smoker"
We expected a basic hotel close to our destination and the room and appointments met that expectation. What we did not expect was the heavy cigarette smoke odor in the room overlaid by a heavy smell of room deodorant. Also, when running the bathroom exhaust fan cigarette smoke was drawn in from other rooms. We left after one night when we expected to […] spend three nights there and moved to a smoke-free hotel. "Clean & comfortable at a budget price"
Nicely re-do with a bit of old Hollywood in the decor. Comfortable king bed. Small but functional bath with flat screen tv, refrigerator, free parking and free wi fi. Great little cafe next door for breakfast or snacks.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Meh."
This hotel is purely somewhere to lay your head at night. With the exception of the great Italian restaurant next door, the neighborhood blows, the rooms are small, old, & shabby (but admittedly clean). The price is the only real draw to this hotel, but since you're not close to anything interesting-- expect to roll those savings over into expensive […] cab fares. "Walk to Studios Parmount and Hollywood Landmarks"
Very nice historic Hotel in Hollywood hence the name. Definitely would stay again, very reasonably priced, for the budgeted traveler. Clean, convenient to Hollywood landmarks and studios. Not the Hilton, but with the savings, paid for my trip, Take the city pass for $59 included 2 hour guided tour of homes of the stars, Madame Tusaine Wax Museum, 75 […] min walk of stars, tour of Dolby Theater where the Academy Awards is held and Hollywood Museum and the pass is good for 5 days if you don't have time in 1 or 2 days to see. Also I had a rental car for $100 for the week went to Malibu to Paradise Cove , J Paul Getty Villa Museum, and the Getty Museum which is MUST SEE and is all FREE except food, drinks, and parking. Charming old school Hollywood. Well situated. Staff very helpful, professional, and nice. Colombian restaurant across the street amazing!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Never Again"
Upon entrance, cigarette smoke flooded the lobby. Clerk assured me quests only smoke in the designated smoking area outside which was right outside the entrance door. The carpet was filthy throughout the hotel. The tub had peeling paint and did not look clean. I could hear the people above me so clearly that we could have been in the same room. The […] room was drafty both windows in the room and bathroom were open when I first walked into the room; I didn't quite understand that until I closed the room window. The oder was bad. I ended up keeping them both open during my stay. Luckily, I brought my own blankets. Other than the hotel being in a good location, I hated my stay. Never Again. "Decent for the price"
Nothing special, but clean enough and good enough quality for the price. Not to far from Paramount and other studios, nor from Hollywood Blvd. I'd stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"HHH"
I stayed at HHH for about 2 weeks and overall it was a great stay. The people at the front desk were all very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and warm. The only down sides I felt were the very small sink in the bathroom and the shower. The shower's water was running too weak and it took a good while longer to take showers than it would […] normally take. The sink is just too small and the water always managed to splash onto the floor. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Weekend getaway"
The Hotel was old but well kept. I served our purpose since we were gone everyday. The beds were hard but everything was clean and the management was professional. I would stay there again since the price was low and we weren't there muchGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old quaint hotel"
Old bldg and rooms better use four stars or better in the futureGenuine Expedia guest review
"no heater"
I think the hotel is conveniently placed near the main sites for Hollywood. but it was freezing cold at night. The few blankets didn't do a good job at all and there wasn't any heater. The hot shower in the morning made up for me freezing all night but still not worth it. They need to invest in a better heaterGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not bad for just one night..."
We stayed at this hotel to be near friends. The hotel is very old and charming. The person at the front desk was pleasant. The room itself was disappointing. The indoor/outdoor carpet smelled of weed. There was no central air or heat; we had a space heater. Thank god we only needed a room for one night. Had we been staying longer, we would have […] left. I enjoyed the place very much i wouldn't mind booking any other time. The front desk was very helpful even gave us a map to show us what we were close by which i enjoyed very much as well. Another thing that made me like the place was that it was very quiet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for just a stay"
This is definitely a good choice if you are just looking for the hotel that is close to most LA main attractions with affordable price. The hotel staffs are friendly and very responsive. However, this is not a place for a quality vacation stay. The building is old with poor maintenance. The power went down in my room without a sign when I just checked […] in for 30 mins. That's why I got a free upgrade delux room, but again one of the lamps was not working. Oh, you can hear all the noises from the street which is not very ideal way to start up your day. "A wonderful time"
The hotel was beautiful and for an amazing price. The bathroom could have been better, it was very small with a very small mirror so getting ready was not as easy as other hotels but I think I will definitely be returning for the atmosphere, price and location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"We will stay here again"
The hotel is comfortable and clean. There is an adorable coffee shop connected to the hotel. The people that own the hotel are super wonderful and the front desk people are very nice. It is in a good area for us. We like to explore ethnic foods in the surrounding neighborhoods so this was an ideal location for us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A friendly hotel"
Pros: very friendly and knowlegable staff members; free off-street parking; interesting elevator. Cons: the mattress is not comfortable; the noise from the street.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great place for a few nights in LA"
Nice hotel. Good size room. Comfortable bed. Were given a choice of a room at the front or back of the hotel. We chose the back and it was quiet enough. Lots of free parking. Elevator was working. Michael at the front desk was very helpful and amusing!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not bad"
The hotel staff is very nice, and the hotel has a very cool vibe. It was seriously 45 degrees outside that night, so there was a standalone space heater in our room, lol. The one thing that I think is important that they don't have is good bedding; they have small pillows and thin blankets, so if its a big deal to you, bring your own. Also, my bf and […] I thought it was funny, but there isn't a phone in the room, so lets just say no wake up service. "Great hotel for the price!"
We stayed at the HHH for our holiday vacation. We just needed a place centrally located where we could lay our heads. This place did the trick. We felt safe and secure. The room was clean, and the staff was friendly. We didn't need a lot of amenities or bells and whistles because we were gone as soon as we showered and changed each day. This place delivered. "Noisy street below but better than expected"
Corner room on the main road - very loud and had a hard time sleeping but if we had remembered ear plugs, we would have been fine. Hotel was clean. Bed was fine. Elevator did not work - luckily we were on the 2nd floor. Parking in LA that is free = Extra Bonus. Lobby appeared refinished and decorated well. Close to great shopping and cool nightlifeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would come back"
Check in - handled quickly room - had to request a different room after first name because of noise along Melrose 2nd room - better but tv picture would go out repeatedly, despite repeated cycling through of cable box and tv. Plenty of parking but very narrow and could be a challenge for big suvs, trucks etc. Wireless reception was ok but spotty at […] times Check out - when informing clerk of the tv problem, he appeared dismissive and uninterested. If it wasnt for the last clerk, the customer service rating would have been better. But after checking into 2nd room, by a very helpful clerk, I happened to walk by an unfriendly cleaning lady on the 3rd floor Despite all of hassles, would stay again, as long as I had a room without all the road noise Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wouldn't Visit Again"
There were a few unappealing factors about our room. The comforter was so thin and seemed worn down. There was a strange damp smell in the room. The water pressure was so intense that it was painful to take a shower and the shower curtain was too short for the tub. There's no phone in the room to even call the front desk if you need anything! The TV […] reception was spotty at best. Even the basic channels wouldn't give us a clear picture. The hotel lobby has a certain charm to it, and the view of the Hollywood sign from our hotel room was nice, but the hotel is in desperate need of updates and renovations. The staff was friendly but not very informative. I'll probably look for somewhere else to stay next time I'm in LA. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect for what we needed"
My wife and I needed a place to stay after going to a show at the Pantages Theatre on a rainy evening. The Hollywood Historic Hotel was perfect....the location is great and the hotel is reasonably priced. The old adage certainly applies "You get what you pay for"...if you're looking for a 5 star vacation destination, look elsewhere, but if you're looking […] for a reasonably priced safe place to lay your head for the evening and don't mind an older location, this is the place. Pluses for us were free parking and free wi-fi...very nice. At the desk, we were asked if we wanted a quiet room facing the parking lot or a noisy room with a view facing the Hollywood sign...being Southern Californians and seeing the sign all of the time, we chose the quiet room. On the Thursday night that we stayed, the room was in fact quiet and comfortable for the evening. For us, this was a find since we frequently find ourselves in Hollywood in need of a room. We were certainly be returning to the HHH. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Another visit to Hollywood Historic"
We had a great time agaiin. It's close to places we want to see. It's a classic old hotel. It now has an elevator (since our last visit). We will return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient Location"
For an inexpensive hotel to stay near Hollywood, it is tough to beat the location. The parking is free, the staff is very courteous. The hotel itself leaves a little bit to be desired in terms of room comfort. Even though it was remodeled, I think they didn't quite go far enough with the renovation. I understand the goal of trying to keep the 1927 look […] and feel, but the beds and bathrooms shouldn't feel like they are from the same year the hotel was built. Me and my girlfriend stayed here for the night because we were visiting certain places in Hollywood/L.A for the weekend. "3rd Floor Walk-up"
I chose this hotel because it was close to where I was going. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Rooms on the street side have a lot of traffic noise until about 7pm, but then it quiets down until about 6am when traffic starts up again. The elevator was being renovated, so had to walk up to the third floor with bags. The climb was very tiring […] for some of the older and out-of-shape people I saw coming up the steep stairs. The cafe next door was mostly sandwich type food, but was good for a cup of coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent location and very good for the price!"
Very beautiful hotel and perfect location. We spent 4 days at this hotel and had low expectations because of other reviews. The hotel is clean and rooms are very nice according to when it was built. I don't have any complain and I do recommend this hotel for business or leisure. I would suggest the hotel to change the hallways's carpets, fix the elevator […] and maybe update the bathrooms. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and took big advantage of its location!!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Falling Apart"
Sheets full of holes, wooden window in the shower rotting away, no phone in the room, no microwave ANYWHERE in the building (there was a small fridge and a tiny coffee pot in the room), elevator is broken and appears to have been for many years, no drawers for clothes, no way to stopper the sink or tub, the hot & cold are reversed on the sink taps, […] toilet 4 inches from tub (you'll bump your knees), and one of the electrical outlets was 8 feet off the ground. The closet was comically useless: 3 hanger bars; one 10 feet off the ground, one 3 feet off the ground, and one in the middle... with a shelf under it. The bar in the middle was the only one that had hangers (permanently) attached. The air conditioner in the room was no match for the 10' ceilings and the room was south-facing, so I had to keep the AC on 24/7. The front desk staff kept referring me to the gas station across the street for all my (basic hotel) needs like ice (NO ice machine in the hotel), plastic silverware, change, a bottle opener, etc. The problem is that none of the staff seems to have ever been to that gas station. It has none of those things. They couldn't even break a $5. And the suggestion that I buy ice was extra ridiculous as there is no way a commercially-sold bag of ice would fit in the "freezer" (slightly-colder-than-normal shelf in the minifridge). Two days in I tried desperately to book another hotel, but all of LA was full unless I wanted to pay $300+ a night. So I spent a whole week here. :( Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't accept a room overlooking Melrose Avenue!"
I should have smelled trouble when the elevator was out of order. I was given a room on the second floor overlooking Melrose Avenue. I did not sleep more than an hour or two off and on all night because of the traffic noise. The window can't be closed because of the attractively installed a/c unit and the pillows turned out to be too big to stuff in […] my ears. Nice shower, though. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good for a quick trip"
I needed a hotel room for a quick trip.. literally a check-in after midnight and a check out the next day. I found this hotel online for a great deal. Overall the location was good; we were going to Universal Studios and it was a pretty quick trip from the hotel. The room was clean. My only complaint is the bathroom is very small, especially the sink/mirror. […] But for what I needed it didn't matter too much. Overall I think this hotel is good for quick trips.
