ok but attention to detail is not good, there was 1/3 of a roll of toilet paper available for a room consisting 4 people and none left also for the second night. The sugar wasn't replaced after the first day. The sofa bed was incredibly uncomfortable.

Very comfortable hotel, well appointed and convenient for our needs. Also not too noisy given its location near the Nepean Highway. Great to have the option of cooking own meals if required and having full sized fridge.

The Buckingham apartments were neat and modern inside. The complex itself was very quiet and the tranquil gardens created a nice ambience. We worked as managers in hospitality for many years and the levels of cleanliness certainly met our high standards. We arrived late but the key was under the mat, room ready and kitchen well equipped. Separate lounge and bedroom. Room remade during stay, reasonably priced. Easy minute walk into Brighton. Quiet.

Very convenient for road access and train to the city, beach, cafes and restaurants. The one bed apt was quite spacious and bright with a balcony and quiet considering its proximity to a main highway. The kitchenette is quite well equipped with cooker, microwave and toaster and some utensils and pans but only a few place settings so the dishwasher was […] not needed. We had the washing machine in the bathroom and found some powder in the garage where there are three dryers free of charge. There is a large TV, DVD and hifi and free wifi in the room but only one device can log in at a time and it is often slow. Free parking was fine. Reception only manned during day. Coffee sachets, teabags, sugar and mini milk pots replaced daily, towels if needed and bed made but not fully cleaned, however we were only there for a week. All in all very convenient, comfortable and very good value if unexciting and we would stay again when visiting family in the area. Read more

Being almost beside the highway meant it was very noisy, especially all through the night. Some of the parking spaces should only be allocated to tiny cars.

We had requested a room further away from the Nepean Hwy following the advice from the review. During check-in, being told the allocated room was still cleaning, we didn't see the room before accepting it. It turned out to be the noisy room. We were in Melbourne for a one day stay to see the first practice day of the President's Cup. The hotel was in a great location within walking distance to the train station to gain access to Brighton Beach and Sandringham or to go into Melbourne. A great location, clean and spacious (can't beat king sized beds). It is right on the corner of a major road but the noise wasn't too bad. Nice kitchen with a large fridge and a dishwasher but hardly enough glasses, plates or cutlery to justify it as you will need to wash them as soon as you use them. Not very handy if you have more than one course […] for dinner as well (eg: main with dessert) You definitely want enough to cover at least 2 meals in a day since you are in a 'Serviced apartment'. The convenience of fabulous restaurants and shops was a real benefit. There is also a train service but not sure where it goes. The only down side for me, is when I see threats of money being deducted if you leave a plate out or don't remove your rubbish when you leave (note is placed on kitchen wall). Not necessary. Hotel looked nice and modern on the pics. The reality was totally different. It was a big fake! Should look like architecturally designed but was more the cheapest stuff from DIY-warehouse. The same with all appliances, TV, DVD and so on: the cheapest stuff of the poorest quality. The dishwasher left the plates and glasses even dirtier after washing. […] No wonder that all kitchen equipment was in a terrible condition that we needed to clean it by hand before using. When we moved in the bathroom floors and walls were full of black hairs as well as the showers was full of mould. After complaining floor and shower were cleaned again but the walls stayed in the same condition. The free internet worked 3 of the 6 days in a speed that I remember back in 2005. The last 3 days it didn't work at all. The staff promised to call the service but obviously never happened. One good thing: the water pressure of the shower was excellent. Arrived to find dirty dishes in cupboards, still having food on them. A lack of facilities e.g. cutlery and crockery. I booked the apartment for family of 4 which was treated with surprise by hotel reception on arrival. Rooms were not cleaned every day as promised and coach bed was faulty from day one and not fixed as promised. the room was nice bit small but that was ok. there were 2 adults and 2 kids but one kid had to sleep with us ad the sofa bed only had one pillow. bit disappointed in that as they new there were 2 kids. so with only 3 pillows that meant only 3 towels how can you dry 4 people with 3 towels?

Overall, the apartments were great. Just a few things that could have made it better. When we checked in, the room was not ready. They still had cleaners in it. Additionally, we ordered 2 singles and a double bed and ended up with 2 doubles and a sofa bed. It wasn't a massive issue but it detracted from an otherwise good experience.

our appartment was a generous size, both lounge & bedroom ,bathroom was a little smaller ,but was quite adequate..we had a large T.V. D.V.D.player & C.D. player also,which so many other places dont provide. We were very impressed and happy with the Buckingham. Very comfortable, close to cafes and train. Off street parking as well. Fully self contained - kitchen, washing machine - we could have lived there for weeks on end.
