With open public spaces created by acclaimed designer Tony Chi, Andaz 5th Avenue features modern artworks throughout, along with the latest travel-savvy conveniences (the hotel opened in 2010). In lieu of a reception desk, a host (available 24-hours) checks you in via laptop while you enjoy a complimentary beverage in the lounge. A touch-screen display is available for checkout and printing boarding passes. But not everything is high-tech: A lobby lending library has floor-to-ceiling bookcases stocked with volumes from the New York Public Library.
The Andaz' Shop restaurant provides a true farm-to-table dining experience, drawing from local farmers and purveyors for ingredients at the height of their season. Cooked-to-order breakfast is available daily from 6:30AM to 10:30AM in the restaurant. After dinner, head to the Bar Downstairs to sip a handcrafted cocktail by the fireplace, or at a communal table with old or new friends. If you get a second wind (easy in The City That Never Sleeps), a well-equipped fitness center is open 24 hours.
