San Marco (St Mark’s) is quintessential visitors’ Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doge’s Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.see all hotels in Venice

"Beautiful hotel, 10 minutes to St Mark's square"
My husband and I stayed at Ad Place in July 2013 and had a wonderful experience. Our room was clean and stylishly decorated with excellent air conditioning, the bathroom had a nice shower, and the common areas of the hotel were lovely. The breakfast was delicious with many different options available. There were always apples available to snack on along […] with a cappuccino machine guests could use at any time. Most importantly, the hotel had a great location with an easy and scenic 10 minute walk to St. Mark's square. We even heard gondeliers singing in the canal outside our window in the evenings! Highly recommended. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

It was ok. Staff was friendly & helpful. Carpets need yo be changed. Bring your own hairdryer and conditioner.Genuine Expedia guest review
What a charming and lovely little hotel! We visited on our honeymoon and this place just set the mood for a romantic stay in Venice. The majority of the staff were rude and appeared bothered to be doing their job, such a disappointment. However, the only exception would be Alesandro with whom we had an exceptional experience with. He went above and […] beyond to help us find attractions and transportation, even giving us restaurant recommendations for our stop in Florence. We thoroughly enjoyed our room located just off the main lobby, our window opened to a small canal and we would wake in the morning to the singing of the gondolas going by and the church bells on Sunday. The hotel was easy walking distance of all the main sites and just a minutes walk to the vaporetto stop. Breakfast was average with coffee, tea, orange juice, meats and pastries. The terrace on the top floor was beautiful at sunset , however for those who aren't lucky enough to get a room off the lobby there is no lift so be prepared to go up a couple flights of stairs. We were glad not to have to haul our luggage up to our room. Overall a great little hotel! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Enchanted beautiful Hotel. Amazing Staff"
Beautifully done hotel and the staff was over the top amazing. Quaint hotel-treated more like a bed and breakfast with great recommendations and helpful suggestions. Everywhere in Venice is a short walk so although a 5 minute walk from St. Mark's it's perfect actually. Opened the windows to hear the Gondola with singing rower go by the hotel. Special […] balcony overlooking rooftops. Excellent breakfast and impecable service. They make you feel like you're the only one staying there! Make sure to ask directions from hotel about what public water taxi to take and the stop. Where you buy tickets may not be helpful. Also ask for land marks. Maps and street names mean close to nothing in Venice. We came in late our last night and asked for small glass of wine for a night cap and was delivered a beautiful tray of snacks and lovely wine. The rooms are beautifully decorated. Always greeted sincerely. Was made fresh cappucino in the mornings-they would rather serve you than you do anything. It is a real gem of a place and actually enjoyed that it was a few minute walk away from the Square. The decor and ambience certainly was fitting for Venice. You felt a part of the experience even at the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Wonderful place to stay!"
I recently traveled to Venice to visit my daughter, who is studying abroad there for a semester. I stayed at the AD Place, and I couldn't have been happier. The hotel was very nice, and the service was impeccable. The front desk staff was very helpful. A helpful manager was kind enough to help me track down a credit card that I had left at a book shop, […] making all the calls for me, and enabling me to get it back in a very short time. The location was great - we attended La Boeheme at the La Fenice Opera House, which you can see from the hotel. The location is only a short walk from La Academia. I cannot put into words how amazing this hotel is. Not only is the location prime (just steps to the vapporetto and minutes to St. Mark's), but the staff is extremely helpful and welcoming. When you walk in you are not only greeted by a pleasant host/ess, but you are greeted by a lovely aroma (the place has a sweet, citrusy, floral scent). My room was […] perfect, beyond all expectations: clean, comfortable bed, good a/c & smelled yummy (like when you walk into the hotel). Just FYI: there are no elevators/lifts, so be prepared to hoof it up some pretty steep stairs (well worth it, but just a heads up). This place is truly a hidden gem...I will definitely return :) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fab boutique hotel close to everything yet quiet"
The hotel was fabulous. Great staff, nice room, decent size room for EU standards. Great location. close to all, but in a quiet nook away from crowds. Great pricing, Great recommendations from staff for dinner, opera, music and sites. Nice full breakfast and lots of coffee. A really nice experience. I totally enjoyed my stay and would love to stay here […] again, and hopefully it does not get too popular and expensive. Even pretty easy access from San Lucia, only 100 meters or so away from Giglio vaporetta stop. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Delightful Boutique Hotel"
We enjoyed our stay at Ad Place very much. From our arrival to our departure they couldn't have been more helpful. On arrival our bags were taken from the taxi into the hotel. Check-in took only a couple of minutes. The hotel is in a 500 year old "palace" that is protected as a historic site. Many elements of the original building have been preserved. […] There was an amply sized bathroom with a tub/shower and a bidet. Down the hall was the main room with a king bed with a surrounding canopy, a lovely touch. The room was spotless. It was not overly large but quite adequate. The breakfast (included) room was on the first floor and fruit, cookies, coffee or espresso, and tea were always available. Breakfast included an array of continental breakfast items plus scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage. The hotel was about a 5 minute walk from San Marco Square with easy access to other parts of the city. The staff was extremely helpful with sightseeing and restaurant advice. Check-out was effortless and our bags were taken out to the water taxi when it arrived. This was one of my most pleasant hotel experiences ever. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unexpected in Every Way"
I got downgraded the first night of our stay - to the tiniest room in the hotel (adjacent to the breakfast room giving it a fresh cooked bacon smell around 6:45am in the morning) - and upgraded the second night - to one of their largest rooms they called a jr. suite but it had a full two rooms, where I come from that's called a suite. So it all worked […] out. When booking, know that the smallest room is tight, but not unmanageable (still room for a desk, minibar and closet and a hallway to store your bags) and the bathroom in both the rooms are about the same size. The team at the front desk is outstanding! Venice is complicated to navigate but these people are very helpful (and also very attractive). It's walking distance to San Marco, Rialto and L'Academia bridges. They have a unique, charming two-seater mini-patio where you can drink wine while gondolas pass by. "Great location, friendly staff, easy to get to."
Was dubious of what this hotel would be like, beng only a small boutique style hotel, but this hotel kived up to its reviews . t was very easy to get to from the airport or from the train for that matter. Flat walk with no bridges from the waterbus stop San Maria del Gigilo So no need to pay for a water taxi. very close to the best shopping Vence has […] to offer. Staff were freindly and very helpful . There is no lift , but the staff have a stair well trolley and they take your bags to your room. Breakfast was a full buffet including eggs, bacon and continental . Tea and coffee are availablein the breakfast room when ever you wish. I was a single traveller and the single room was small but that is expected in European hotels but beautifully appointed bohemian style and had a double bed rather than single which was why the room was slightly cramped, but I appreciated the larger bed for the sake of a little extra room. you are only in the room to sleep anyway. i can't wait to plan my next trip to Venice to stay at the Ad Place again. "Great location and warm welcome"
My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in july 2013. Got a very warm welcome from the lady on the front desk and received a welcome drink of the local spritz which was nice. Great location - only ten minutes walk from st marks square. Don't listen to folk in other reviews saying the hotel is really hard to find - anyone who has half a brain and 2 eyes […] to look at a map should have no trouble. Get the aggulia boat to santa maria guglie stop on the orange line and its literally a minutes walk from there. Only 2 small criticisms - room was quite small (common in italy) and the a/c could do with a service as it didnt keep the room as cool as i would have liked. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

A great couples hotel, ideally located but quiet, stylish and friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
When the hotel blurb says that it is not suitable for disabled visitors, it was not wrong! Several flights of steep stairs with no lifts. The bed was up on a pedestal which was a bit tricky to manage. The bathroom was very small and widows/ roof light blind inaccessible so the morning light couldn't be stopped. "Disappointing Honeymoon Hotel"
Throughout the night loud banging noises from the heating system kept us up. When we called the reception at 2am all they did was turn our heating off, but it was the heating from another room which ran through our room that was making the noise. The room also needs redecorating as the walls were becoming grubby and worn.Genuine Expedia guest review

"5 star shower and breakfast. Recommended!"
The Ad Place hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from St Marks Square but its location beside a little backwater canal is calm, peaceful and off the main tourist drag. I was staying in a Superior Single room which was definitely on the small side but well furnished- my only criticism is that the carpet was a bit stained but that didn't really bother […] me as to be honest I spent very little time in my room. The bed was comfortable (mattress slightly on the firm side) and the quiet location and thick curtains ensure a good night's sleep. The bathroom was great- very clean and stylish and with a really brilliant shower (and I'm quite hard to please in the shower department- its one of the main criteria I judge hotels by!) My other very important criterion is the breakfast and again Ad Place scored very highly. Breakfast is served from 7.30 to 10.30 and includes 2 kinds of eggs, bacon, a variety of meats and cheeses, cereals, fruit, yogurts and a large choice of bread, cakes and pastries. There is a juicer to squeeze your own juice and a great coffee machine. Hot drinks, fruit and pastries are also available in the breakfast room throughout the day, which is a nice touch. Finally I must mention the brilliant staff- very friendly and unfailingly helpful. They even improvised a pair of bin bag waders for me when the exceptionally high tide caused flooding on the day of my departure. I hope to return to Venice and if I do I will definitely stay at this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A delight for a short break"
We spent four nights at Ad Place. It sounded good from the published details on the Internet and certainly lived up to expectations. The room (Giugno) was not large but really nicely furnished, with a window looking down onto a small canal - with the bathroom window looking down onto an adjoining canal. A regular part of the entertainment was a procession […] of gondolas down below, complete with operatic favourites on accordion or sung by a tenor. Breakfast was excellent, a good variety of fresh fruit, squeezing your own orange or grapefruit juice, cold meats, cheeses, yogurts (not the usual plastic pots), bread and pastries, together with eggs and bacon. Pastries and coffee or tea were available all day in the lounge/breakfast room. The staff were very friendly and helpful, giving good recommendations for restaurants, advising on check-in and journey times, and checking us in online and printing our boarding passes. The hotel has a great location, between St Mark's Square and Accademia bridge, and only 5 minutes walk from Giglio vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Old and small room"
The room is so old and tiny. The bathroom is small you can't turn around from side to other side. The shower is small and tiny. You can flash the toillet during your shower as the bathroom is sooooooo small. There is some noise in the morning from the gondola in the canal and also there is a clock ring every hour near bay. The breakfast is nice and […] there is a tea and coffee maker in the breakfast area are available all the day. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful hotel for the Venice experience"
Fantastic, central location to explore Venice. This small hotel (c 10 rooms?) is in a very old, delightful, quirky building with truly characterful rooms. Calm, serene mood in the place. Romantic small terrace on the roof for quiet times. Decor and furnishings in a pleasing modern-chic style. Great bed! Buffet-style breakfast was excellent - sets you […] up for the day if you have an appetite. Ad-lib coffee, tea and patisserie throughout the day in the dining room offered the chance to take a relaxing, calm (and free!) break at any time. Staff very helpful (eg restaurant and concert bookings) and genuinely friendly. Lots of stairs, but you're fit anyway if you intend to visit and explore Venice, right? Mind your head of the low beams on the top floor (silly me ...). Could do with at least one accessible bright source of light in the room. Overall, a delight. A charming 'side' canal right outside the front door with gondolas (and their music) passing regularly. Ad Place is perfect for couples with as romantic a setting and ambience as you could wish for (at a decent price) in La Serenissima. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A charming centrally located hotel"
Ad Place is located very centrally in Venice, with Piazza San Marco being only about ten minutes away by foot. The staff were uniformly helpful and efficient. The desk staff were fluent in English (but spoke in Italian to me, as I was keen to practise my spoken Italian!). Breakfast is served from 7.30 and is a really fine continental spread, with croissants, […] fresh fruit, various meats and cheeses and excellent coffee (included in my deal).
