Eolo Hotel Residence - Ricadi

The Hotel Tropis is conveniently located to the downtown area of Tropea. It is new, modern, very clean and the staff was professional, friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The rooms also have nice balconies, a great addition. It was a little hard to find, as we did not come into Tropea from the autostrada. My only suggestion would be that they put a few signs in that direction. Otherwise, I highly recommend this hotel. It was a most enjoyable experience.

Located a few miles outside of town, tucked away behind an industrial plant, on unexpectedly beautiful grounds. In the middle of an olive grove with tennis courts and an incredible swimming pool that you would normally only find in a very high-end resort. I was very pleasantly surprised to find such a nice hotel in such a rural location.

Great resort, but out of the way...

This is a beautiful place to stay. The hotel is located directly on the ocean with it's own private beach. My room had an incredible view of the italian coast. The food was outstanding. The water was warm and clear, bring a mask and snorkel. The best part was the staff. Very friendly and helpful. Thank you Fiona and Domenica for helping me with my train reservations and everything else. And a special thanks to the owner who took me to the train station personally so i wouldn't miss my train. The Virgilio is a nice average small town hotel. The elevator begins one floor up from the lobby so persons with mobility problems may have a problem. The desk clerk did not speak english, but I had no problems checking in with a copy of my reservation. I had a room with a single bed. It was very neat and clean, but very small and the bed was thin but firm. The room had a small TV, desk, refrigerator and air conditioning. The bathrooms was very clean and the plumbing all worked fine with plenty of hot water. I was only there one night otherwise I woulld have felt the room was a bit spartan. I had been sailing with some friends and they also needed rooms for the night but had not made any reservations. They were able to get two double bed rooms. They were also satisfied with their rooms and the hotel. The hotel had a bar area and a restaurant that served breakfast with the room. I did not use the restaurant or bar, but my friends thought the breakfast was acceptable. WiFi was advertized at the desk, but I could not get it to work, but there was a PC with internet available in the lobby. The hotel is conveniently located five blocks from the train station, two blocks from the town square, and walking 6 blocks will access most of the oldtown area, resaurants, and beaches. Althought the beaches are 150 meters below the town, down a very long stairway or an expensive taxi ride. It is not a fancy resort style hotel, and I would not spend more that two or three nights there, but it I was very satisfied.
