"A room with a view"
The Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort is exactly what it says it is and every room has a view of Green Bay. It is a short drive from Sturgeon Bay and not far from numerous roads to everywhere in Door County. We will definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for family"
The location of this hotel is beautiful. We walked outside our room right up to the waters of Sturgeon Bay to watch the most beautiful sunset every night we were there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Little get away"
I was worried about the location of this property in regards to other activities in Door County. Turns out, not a problem at all. Everything is a nice peaceful 20-30 minute drive. The resort was very quiet with excellent views of the water. We even spent some time in the hot tub which was very nice. The resort is fine for families, but it is not geared […] to kids. My wife and I enjoyed nit having kids running around. Price was good, great if you compare to other properties in Door County, and was as nice of a place as I could have expected. The most pleasing part of this resort is its setting overlooking Sturgeon Bay and a beautiful sunset. However, the hotel appears tired and needs updating. The hallways are sterile and the room decor is seriously out of date. It is essentially a condo facility with the pools and the shoreline being the only amenities. No restaurant on site or close to […] the hotel. It is also a significant distance from the hotel to most of the popular villages in Door County. If you want a quiet stay and want to bring a family and cook your meals in the room the facility is appropriate but we had not understood how far removed the hotel was from the rest of the sites we wanted to visit nor that there were so few other resort amenities at the hotel Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fantastic view of sunset from balcony!"
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great suggestions on where to eat or see while visiting Sturgeon Bay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wonderful view, great customer service and outstanding room accomodations. The price was commendable also. This was a great b-day getaway. First time and loved it. Will not only return but also recommend. Thanks to the entire staff for making my 64th a time to remember!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good location, beautiful views!"
Stayed at this hotel for a Mother's Day getaway. Three nights total. It's location at Sturgeon Bay was perfect. Easily accessible to other towns in Door County. The room and facilities were very clean. We went during the off-season so it was nice and quiet. We used one of the grills outside and ate at a picnic table overlooking the sunset. Our room […] was always cleaned when we left for the day. Staff were not overbearing like some resorts, but they were there when needed. The view was the best part, any time of day. Highly recommended, especially the premier suites on the third floor. We will be back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel with great views of the bay."
We were there when we anticipated that the weather would be bad. We were looking for a comfortable place in case we couldn't go out. Instead, the weather was great and we had a very nice suite with a perfect view of the bay. There is a small balcony, a fireplace, kitchen and whirlpool tub. All of these things made this a very comfortable place to stay […] for a few days. The only things that take away from the experience are that the exercise room is tiny with only a bike, step machine, one treadmill (not assembled when we arrived) and weight machines, and a rather soft bed. If you like a soft bed and do not intend to use the exercise room, then I would say this place is great. The views of the water alone are worth the stay. Also, it's location is convenient to Sturgeon Bay and points north. Staying here and you would avoid some slow drives in season. I would definitely recommend a stay here, particularly in off-season. "Excellent overall stay"
We stayed 4 nights in May 2013. I have no negative comments at all. We had never been to Door County so I wasn't sure where the most convenient place would be. We likes Sturgeon Bay and Westwood Shores. We had a view of Lake Michigan and the rooms were very spacious with all that we needed. The indoor pool looked nice even though we did not use it. […] It also had an outdoor pool right by the beach that was not opened yet. It was a great stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Fun Off Season"
Was a great place, definitely would be fun in the summer time. Had lots of fun off season too. Would have given 5 stars but the bed was uncomfortable (sagged / uneven) and the ceiling fan made a lot of noise. Still a great room at a great (off season) rate.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

My husband and I picked this resort for our honeymoon and were very satisfied. The rooms were clean, and you couldn't hear anyone in the halls. All of the staff were also very friendly. Will definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet, relaxing atmosphere with a beautiful view"
We really enjoyed our stay at Westwood Shores. It is a great value during the month of June before the high season begins. Our two teen-aged girls were delighted with accomodations which are basically like a very nice two bedroom apartment. We all enjoyed the privacy of having two bathrooms, and not having to fight over what to watch on TV after a day […] exploring Door County. It is a very clean place, very quiet, not luxurious in a pretentious sort of way, but just very, very nice. Each room has a great view of the bay. The indoor pool is OK, but the being at the outdoor pool really makes you feel like you are on vacation since you are so close to the bay. The rowboat and paddle boats are also enjoyable and free for guests to use. If you're looking for a beach atmosphere like you'd find in an oceanside resort this isn't the place for you, but if your idea of chilling out is to read a good book while you're in a quiet, stress-free atmosphere, then Westwood Shores is pretty close to perfect. "Great place , reasonable prices, very relaxing"
It was the first time that we visited Wisconsin door county and were absolutely happy with our stay at the Westwood Shores resort in Sturgeon Bay.It was one of the most relaxing vacations my wife and I have had and are definitely planning on coming up again with our family. I got married on June 2nd 2012 in door county. I spent 2 weeks prior reviewing hotels. I am eaisly disgusted by most motels and rip the quilts off immediately knowing they are not washes. I am also 9months pregnant and recently spend 2 nights in Wisconsin Dells in the most uncomfortable bed. I was very nervous but pick Westwood Shores based on web pictures […] & other reviews. I am so pleased with my stay at this hotel. Our room was amazing. It was clean, beautiful view of the bay, and decorated wonderfully. I felt so comfy I told my new husband, I could live in this hotel room. The bed was super comfortable with a padded mattress pad and it was so clean that I even used the hotel blankets. The pool area was impressive. Not only a hot tub but the big pool was heated. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely be staying here again. "Fabulous Place to Stay"
Everyone there (staff) was friendly, the rooms and pool area were immaculate. I always judge a hotel room by how clean its bathroom is and this hotel passed the test with flying colors. The grounds are stunning and we can't wait to stay there again. Its close to everything, but feels like it is a little hideaway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best kept secret in Sturgeon Bay"
I was pleasantly surprised with my accommodations. The one bedroom condo had a nice kitchen, great bathroom, and nice size comfortable bedroom. Everything was clean. The facility has everything it advertises. Very nice heated indoor pool. Very pleasant staff. I'll stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Except for the noisiest refrigerator we've ever heard, there is nothing about the Westwood Shores to have it stand out. The one bedroom suite was, at best, adequate. A king size bed left little room for anything except a small armoire, a night stand and one lamp. The kitchen was well equipped to handle light cooking chores, except paper napkins. A very small balcony could barely accommodate two adults. The bathroom was not geared to older customers. The grab bar was located outside tub/shower area. It was very awkward to hold onto getting in and out. The bottom of the tub needs a mat. It was very slippery if you washed the bottom of your feet while showering.

The room was nice, but not quite at the level (cheap builder grade) I expected for the price. The fireplace was nice. The patio wasn't very usable, didn't have a great view. The place was immaculately clean, except for the patio. Good location. Didn't like there was no a/c in the second bedroom.

Nice comfy room fantastic view of lake. Could use a little update but overall was great stay. The staff did a outstanding job of reserving our room. Pools were nice, furniture quite comfy. We have stayed in numerous resorts and we found this to be in our top five. I am sure we will be back and highly recommend Westwood Shores to any of our friends visiting Door county

This was our first time staying in Wisconsin and we were very pleased with this location. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The décor was a little out dated but for how much we were in the room it didn't matter. Only one air-conditioning unit in the living area made it a little warm in the bedroom unless you opened the window. Every night we had a beautiful sunset view from our room sitting on our balcony. The rooms had basically everything you would need to stay in and cook or bring back your leftovers for the next day. The pool areas were both very nice and well kept. The resort is very close to many of the small towns nearby. We were able to venture out every day and get back by sunset. Be sure to take time to see a play at The Peninsula Players. They are very good and the facility was very nice.
"Good pools and sunset view"

We stayed in a two bedroom suite with our 13 year old girl and 11 year old boy. The suite was a little dated decor-wise but in good shape and clean. It had a queen sofa bed as well as two queen beds so the kids did not have to share a bed and everyone could watch a different tv :) wireless was free. The indoor pool was heated and the hot tub and sauna were nice after a tiring day sight seeing in door county. There was an outdoor pool overlooking the lake which was also nice and you can even swim in the lake if you need a refreshing option. The resort provided free paddle boats and the dock was a great place to take photos of the sunset or just enjoy the moment. There are barbecues by the pool if you want to cook your own food and have a family reunion which some families were doing while we were there. There is no restaurant at the hotel but you can order from restaurants in Sturgeon Bay or drive to them. There are lots of farm markets, artisanal cheese shops and bakeries in door county where you can pick up snacks, lunch and breakfast items to try. Having the stocked kitchenette in the room was a definite bonus for this. Staff were friendly and helpful. This was a great family resort. The suite we stayed in was on the lower level and was a bit dark (like a walkout basement). It was near the pool though. If you came here for a romantic getaway and had to spend a lot of time in the suite, I think you might be disappointed.

Westwood Shores has been home away from home for my husband and I every summer for some time. While the resort is ALWAYS clean and beautiful, some minor improvements could be made. We have stayed in all sorts of room here and they have all been great! Updates as I see them: 1. All trim, moldings and baseboards. This time we stayed on a ground unit, #104, and you can see pieces of the floor in the master bath starting to come up. The humidity has caused the baseboards in the bathrooms to look damaged and dingy. By just sprucing up the trim, the units would look up to date and fresh. (Especially with a wide, white baseboard). 2. Blowdryer. It's functional. But not very good. Takes a long time to dry hair, and when you have multiple ladies in one unit, this gets to be very time consuming. Not major, but helpful especially in the 2 bedroom units. 3. Adding a 13 × 9 baking pan. We could have used this many times. The kitchen is something we utilize everytime we come. It's easy with a busy family for quick breakfast items (hot rolls) and lunch (baking corn) and desserts (brownies, cakes) etc. Our daughter had an allergy, so we tend to make lots of our own food. 4. Tile. Replace the old worn linoleum with real tile. It's very durable and would look great in the kitchens and bathrooms. Our master bathroom shower has mold spots on the ceiling and by having tile, it could just be washed away very easily without damaging drywall. Overall, we love westwood shores and probably won't ever stay anywhere else. This is home for us in door county. The grills, kitchens, movie rental, game room, game rental, pier, sandbox, pools, and staff are great! We love downtown sturgeon bay and driving a few minutes for mini excursions is fun. We stop along the way at various farm stands so it's not as long in the car. The front desk is always helpful. The pools are very well maintained and warm (like a bath!) And the view is one of the best I've ever had!!! The updates are merely my perception, and I'm pretty picky, so they don't really need to be made. We are looking forward to building many more memories here with our kids over the years!
"Very good place to stay near Sturgeon Bay"
I will echo many of the other reviews here. The grounds and setting are very nice and well kept. Room decor is a little dated, but everything works great and no problems with cleanliness at all. All rooms have a westward facing view, so all units have a water view. As there are less than 40 units, the place never feels too crowded and we typically had the pools to ourselves. With the in-unit kitchen and the gas grills available, it was easy to make a couple of meals at the resort, but note that there aren't any grocery stores close by, or if there are, their hours are limited. Really enjoyed the sunsets with a couple of cocktails down by the water. It was 25 minute to drive up to Egg Harbor, but as all of Door Cty is spread out and slow paced, this didn't present much of a problem. We did the drive up north 2 days in a row and it didn't feel bothersome. Seemed like a reasonable trade-off to stay at a nice place with indoor/outdoor pool. If I was planning to return to Door County, I would stay here again. We stayed with little kids, 6 and 8.
"Very nice place"
08/17/14 Lynn_0130 Minneapolis
4 of us stayed in a 2-bedroom that included living room, kitchen and deck. All of it was very nice. Beds are comfortable. Furnishings are nice; they fit with the theme of the area. We bought some local wine and cheese one night and ate in, so it was nice to have the kitchen available. Shower runs a bit too light for water pressure, and the hair dryer is not very good. Also they supply a shampoo/conditioner combo of which I am not a fan (so bring your own if you also don't like these). Nice TV's, plenty of room and 2 swimming pools (1 outdoor and 1 indoor). Staff very nice and helpful. We would certainly stay here again.

Really enjoyed our stay. Very nice view from the 3rd floor room. The sunset is amazing We really surprised when we first saw it. The room was very clean and roomy. We liked having the 24 hour coffee bar available in the lobby. Lots to see and do in Door County. Visited Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek. Seeing the Eagle Bluff Light house and Eagle Tower is a must. The tour guide at the lighthouse was excellent giving the history of the house. Tower is 75 feet above the ground and 225 feet above the bay. Absolutely amazing views. The Mill is great supper club to have dinner. 15 drive north on Route 43.
"Nice place to stay in Door County"

Overall my husband and I had a great time at the West Shore Resort. Pros: The grounds were beautiful and our view of the lake was amazing. We liked that it was quiet and the grounds were clean. The 24 hour coffee was a nice touch. Our unit was always clean and taken care of. Cons: It was a little far away from the rest of Door County but we just made full day trips to the other towns so it wasn't too big of a deal. It would have been nice if there was some kind of breakfast offered - - even just some fruit and bagels or something. There is nothing nearby without getting in the car and driving. The thing that bothered us the most was the attitude of quite a few of the women (not all - a couple were very nice) sitting at the front desk. They would answer the questions you would ask but it seemed as if it was an effort. One time my room key stopped working and the woman seemed annoyed that she had to reprogram our keys and gave me a lecture about not keeping it near credit cards, etc. The most outstanding lack of customer service was when we checked out on Saturday morning. The woman took my credit card, handed me the final receipt and went back to what she was doing. Not one word such as thanks for coming, hope you had a nice stay, nothing, nada. It was so cold it left us with a really bad last feeling about the place.
