"Great for family"
The location of this hotel is beautiful. We walked outside our room right up to the waters of Sturgeon Bay to watch the most beautiful sunset every night we were there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Little get away"
I was worried about the location of this property in regards to other activities in Door County. Turns out, not a problem at all. Everything is a nice peaceful 20-30 minute drive. The resort was very quiet with excellent views of the water. We even spent some time in the hot tub which was very nice. The resort is fine for families, but it is not geared […] to kids. My wife and I enjoyed nit having kids running around. Price was good, great if you compare to other properties in Door County, and was as nice of a place as I could have expected. The most pleasing part of this resort is its setting overlooking Sturgeon Bay and a beautiful sunset. However, the hotel appears tired and needs updating. The hallways are sterile and the room decor is seriously out of date. It is essentially a condo facility with the pools and the shoreline being the only amenities. No restaurant on site or close to […] the hotel. It is also a significant distance from the hotel to most of the popular villages in Door County. If you want a quiet stay and want to bring a family and cook your meals in the room the facility is appropriate but we had not understood how far removed the hotel was from the rest of the sites we wanted to visit nor that there were so few other resort amenities at the hotel Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fantastic view of sunset from balcony!"
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great suggestions on where to eat or see while visiting Sturgeon Bay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wonderful view, great customer service and outstanding room accomodations. The price was commendable also. This was a great b-day getaway. First time and loved it. Will not only return but also recommend. Thanks to the entire staff for making my 64th a time to remember!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, beautiful views!"
Stayed at this hotel for a Mother's Day getaway. Three nights total. It's location at Sturgeon Bay was perfect. Easily accessible to other towns in Door County. The room and facilities were very clean. We went during the off-season so it was nice and quiet. We used one of the grills outside and ate at a picnic table overlooking the sunset. Our room […] was always cleaned when we left for the day. Staff were not overbearing like some resorts, but they were there when needed. The view was the best part, any time of day. Highly recommended, especially the premier suites on the third floor. We will be back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel with great views of the bay."
We were there when we anticipated that the weather would be bad. We were looking for a comfortable place in case we couldn't go out. Instead, the weather was great and we had a very nice suite with a perfect view of the bay. There is a small balcony, a fireplace, kitchen and whirlpool tub. All of these things made this a very comfortable place to stay […] for a few days. The only things that take away from the experience are that the exercise room is tiny with only a bike, step machine, one treadmill (not assembled when we arrived) and weight machines, and a rather soft bed. If you like a soft bed and do not intend to use the exercise room, then I would say this place is great. The views of the water alone are worth the stay. Also, it's location is convenient to Sturgeon Bay and points north. Staying here and you would avoid some slow drives in season. I would definitely recommend a stay here, particularly in off-season. "Excellent overall stay"
We stayed 4 nights in May 2013. I have no negative comments at all. We had never been to Door County so I wasn't sure where the most convenient place would be. We likes Sturgeon Bay and Westwood Shores. We had a view of Lake Michigan and the rooms were very spacious with all that we needed. The indoor pool looked nice even though we did not use it. […] It also had an outdoor pool right by the beach that was not opened yet. It was a great stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Fun Off Season"
Was a great place, definitely would be fun in the summer time. Had lots of fun off season too. Would have given 5 stars but the bed was uncomfortable (sagged / uneven) and the ceiling fan made a lot of noise. Still a great room at a great (off season) rate.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quiet, relaxing atmosphere with a beautiful view"
We really enjoyed our stay at Westwood Shores. It is a great value during the month of June before the high season begins. Our two teen-aged girls were delighted with accomodations which are basically like a very nice two bedroom apartment. We all enjoyed the privacy of having two bathrooms, and not having to fight over what to watch on TV after a day […] exploring Door County. It is a very clean place, very quiet, not luxurious in a pretentious sort of way, but just very, very nice. Each room has a great view of the bay. The indoor pool is OK, but the being at the outdoor pool really makes you feel like you are on vacation since you are so close to the bay. The rowboat and paddle boats are also enjoyable and free for guests to use. If you're looking for a beach atmosphere like you'd find in an oceanside resort this isn't the place for you, but if your idea of chilling out is to read a good book while you're in a quiet, stress-free atmosphere, then Westwood Shores is pretty close to perfect. "Great place , reasonable prices, very relaxing"
It was the first time that we visited Wisconsin door county and were absolutely happy with our stay at the Westwood Shores resort in Sturgeon Bay.It was one of the most relaxing vacations my wife and I have had and are definitely planning on coming up again with our family. I got married on June 2nd 2012 in door county. I spent 2 weeks prior reviewing hotels. I am eaisly disgusted by most motels and rip the quilts off immediately knowing they are not washes. I am also 9months pregnant and recently spend 2 nights in Wisconsin Dells in the most uncomfortable bed. I was very nervous but pick Westwood Shores based on web pictures […] & other reviews. I am so pleased with my stay at this hotel. Our room was amazing. It was clean, beautiful view of the bay, and decorated wonderfully. I felt so comfy I told my new husband, I could live in this hotel room. The bed was super comfortable with a padded mattress pad and it was so clean that I even used the hotel blankets. The pool area was impressive. Not only a hot tub but the big pool was heated. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely be staying here again. "Fabulous Place to Stay"
Everyone there (staff) was friendly, the rooms and pool area were immaculate. I always judge a hotel room by how clean its bathroom is and this hotel passed the test with flying colors. The grounds are stunning and we can't wait to stay there again. Its close to everything, but feels like it is a little hideaway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best kept secret in Sturgeon Bay"
I was pleasantly surprised with my accommodations. The one bedroom condo had a nice kitchen, great bathroom, and nice size comfortable bedroom. Everything was clean. The facility has everything it advertises. Very nice heated indoor pool. Very pleasant staff. I'll stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The second bedroom was quite small; basically the bed fit in it and not much more. Difficult to enter the room without hitting the TV stand. Wasn't told where the swimming pool towels were located. it would be nice to have a small restaurant or convenience store for items you have forgotten instead of trying to find a store.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Westwood Shores Resort"
I lived in Door County for 10 years and came home for a visit. I was aware of the resort, but had never stayed there and decided to stay for two days. It was wonderful. The staff was so friendly and our suite was spacious and comfortable. The sunsets were fantastic each night. Everything we needed was at the resort. A very nice place to stay. I would recommend it to anyone. Pleasant front desk help and very quiet area. Beds were very comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The resort was excellent in all ways except there were gnats every morning in the bathroom around the sink. Not bad enough to make us leave but annoying. All the good things about Westwood easily outweighed the minor problem.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very good place to stay near Sturgeon Bay"
I will echo many of the other reviews here. The grounds and setting are very nice and well kept. Room decor is a little dated, but everything works great and no problems with cleanliness at all. All rooms have a westward facing view, so all units have a water view. As there are less than 40 units, the place never feels too crowded and we typically had the pools to ourselves. With the in-unit kitchen and the gas grills available, it was easy to make a couple of meals at the resort, but note that there aren't any grocery stores close by, or if there are, their hours are limited. Really enjoyed the sunsets with a couple of cocktails down by the water. It was 25 minute to drive up to Egg Harbor, but as all of Door Cty is spread out and slow paced, this didn't present much of a problem. We did the drive up north 2 days in a row and it didn't feel bothersome. Seemed like a reasonable trade-off to stay at a nice place with indoor/outdoor pool. If I was planning to return to Door County, I would stay here again. We stayed with little kids, 6 and 8.
"Very nice place"
08/17/14 Lynn_0130 Minneapolis
4 of us stayed in a 2-bedroom that included living room, kitchen and deck. All of it was very nice. Beds are comfortable. Furnishings are nice; they fit with the theme of the area. We bought some local wine and cheese one night and ate in, so it was nice to have the kitchen available. Shower runs a bit too light for water pressure, and the hair dryer is not very good. Also they supply a shampoo/conditioner combo of which I am not a fan (so bring your own if you also don't like these). Nice TV's, plenty of room and 2 swimming pools (1 outdoor and 1 indoor). Staff very nice and helpful. We would certainly stay here again.

Really enjoyed our stay. Very nice view from the 3rd floor room. The sunset is amazing We really surprised when we first saw it. The room was very clean and roomy. We liked having the 24 hour coffee bar available in the lobby. Lots to see and do in Door County. Visited Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek. Seeing the Eagle Bluff Light house and Eagle Tower is a must. The tour guide at the lighthouse was excellent giving the history of the house. Tower is 75 feet above the ground and 225 feet above the bay. Absolutely amazing views. The Mill is great supper club to have dinner. 15 drive north on Route 43.
"Nice place to stay in Door County"

Overall my husband and I had a great time at the West Shore Resort. Pros: The grounds were beautiful and our view of the lake was amazing. We liked that it was quiet and the grounds were clean. The 24 hour coffee was a nice touch. Our unit was always clean and taken care of. Cons: It was a little far away from the rest of Door County but we just made full day trips to the other towns so it wasn't too big of a deal. It would have been nice if there was some kind of breakfast offered - - even just some fruit and bagels or something. There is nothing nearby without getting in the car and driving. The thing that bothered us the most was the attitude of quite a few of the women (not all - a couple were very nice) sitting at the front desk. They would answer the questions you would ask but it seemed as if it was an effort. One time my room key stopped working and the woman seemed annoyed that she had to reprogram our keys and gave me a lecture about not keeping it near credit cards, etc. The most outstanding lack of customer service was when we checked out on Saturday morning. The woman took my credit card, handed me the final receipt and went back to what she was doing. Not one word such as thanks for coming, hope you had a nice stay, nothing, nada. It was so cold it left us with a really bad last feeling about the place.
"Comfort, beauty and courtesy"

From the minute we checked into this resort, we were at home. The room was delightful; our balcony had a spectacular view of Sturgeon Bay. My daughter used both the indoor and outdoor pools and declared them wonderful. The desk was very helpful and courteous. They lent out DVDs to use in the rooms and when my daughter was having trouble getting them to run they were patient and put up with all her questions and eventually she got them to work. We would return again without hesitation.

Breaking down this rating: The good: The resort location is solid. Quiet and away from the hub-bub of town. The views of Green Bay from the shoreline were second to none. Beautiful sunsets. The indoor pool and hot tub was nice as was the sauna. The room was surprisingly quiet! We stayed in room 306. The not so good: The room and the resort are showing signs of age. While the place looks good on the outside, the inside is a little rough. These things we could live with and felt from other reviewers beforehand this might be the case. The bedroom was smallish. The air-conditioner was loud and at times sounded like it was about to go out. It took a good while to cool the room which was surprising since most of our stay the temps were in the mid 70's. My wife had to buy a hair dryer. She said the one the resort had was worthless! The bad: The biggest complaint and the reason my rating is a three is a result of the lack of warmth from the receptionist and the fact that anytime we had a question the receptionists were busy taking reservations. Upon arrival, I was checked in, after a lengthy wait no less, by the receptionist. My check-in was eventually handled while the receptionist helped someone else on the phone. Totally unacceptable. I think there was an attitude of take-it-or-leave-it-we-don't-need-your-business-to-survive that resided with the management which may be just fine in Door County but it is a bad business practice where we come from. Anytime we did get a chance to ask about some place to eat or go, we were met with short answers that came off as "we don't have time for you!" We managed to find many gems in Door County but that had more to do with our own resourcefulness and nothing to do with the resort with the exception of some of the literature on a stand at the resort's entrance.
"A personal top 5 hotel"

The hotel is very well constructed and maintained and very clean. The indoor pool is great. It was nice and quiet inside the room even though we were on the first floor. I loved the whirlpool bath tub. The grounds are pretty. Probably the only thing I could have wanted was better shore access - there was just a tiny rocky beach and I would have liked to take a walk, but there was no where to walk except the main road which would have been too dangerous. The coffee in the lobby was very good - the room coffee pot, not so much. We had a lovely time, but we spent a lot of time driving north to tour the rest of Door County. If that's what you're interested in, you may want to stay further north.

We stayed at Westwood Shores in one of the two-bedroom suites with a group of 7 - 4 adults and 3 kids aged 8, 10, and 12. It was the perfect place to stay for our family! The bedrooms were a good size and the beds were very comfortable. The adults loved having our own sliding glass doors that led out onto our porch. The girls were easily accommodated on the pull-out sofa bed and slept comfortably as well. We really appreciated being able to have a kitchenette as we ate breakfast every morning in our room. Both the inside and outside pools were clean and well-maintained. One of our favorite aspects was the absolutely gorgeous views that we had of the bay. We got some beautiful photos and truly just enjoyed sitting down by the water every night. Thank you for a great stay! We'll be back again!
"Perfect Family Vacation"

We spent three nights here during the Memorial Day weekend. We were a group of 10 people with 4 kids. We had two lakefront rooms and as far as I can tell all rooms have a lake view. Rooms were clean and adequately furnished and the kitchen fully equipped. The indoor swimming pool was a hit with the kids and the hot tub was great for the adults. There was an outdoor pool also which we didn't try. The view of the lake was superb and sunsets were gorgeous. The large windows were definitely a plus. The facility is located about a 10 minute drive away from Sturgeon Bay downtown and is located at a really quiet place. There are quite a few cute little bay side towns to visit and restaurants to explore nearby. Overall it was a very enjoyable weekend and we'd love to stay here again.
"Great little place!"

This is a really nice resort complex. There is some light aging and they do a great job taking care of you. We would suggest this for anyone planning to visit the Sturgeon Bay area. The only issue we have was they could clean the balcony webs more and the cherry trees are going to need a pruning for viewing access. Be sure to check out the restaurant menus in the lobby basket. We did Sturgeon Bay on a fishing trip and the winds kept our success rate lower than we hoped. Though we did manage a 7 pound smallmouth and several 3 to 5 pounders. Parking was extremely tight and very few outside outlets if you bring your boat, which we did. The view of the bay is great and the balconies are nice. It was a very nice trip for us to enjoy the Door County area. We did John Martin's for dinner one night and that was exquisite. The trips to Fish Creek we did Alexander's one evening and that was nice also. The Cooper's Corner area was well visited by many and visiting the wine country made a nice couple's trip of this. We ate at Cooper's Corner one evening upstairs and it was 50/50, one good and one bad meal, and a tourist area. It was a quick trip though this facility was nice.
