      The hotel and especially the grounds were beautiful. For the most part, the food was excellent as was the service. However, there were a couple of problems with both. First, it was very difficult to make dinner reservations for the non buffet restaurants. It is unclear why this needs to be so difficult and sees a funny thing to complain about, but many guests complained to us about it during their trip. Not the way you want to be spending your time while in paradise. Second, they tried to sell us on Club Melia, like a timeshare, and this experience was not positive. We were told we were having a tour of the hotel not a sales meeting. It took 2.5 hours not the 90 minutes they said and nothing was in writing. Enough said. Otherwise the trip was great! Staying at the Reserve over the main hotel was well worth the extra money. We felt like we had our own private pool!

      Room was clean, bathroom contemporary and clean. Staff goes out of their way to make sure you are entertained and satisfied. Food was great and presented nicely, very sanitary. For all inclusive they do not skimp on beverages and have many top shelf brands.

    The hotel experience was in two words friendly and fantastic. The staff could not have been more courteous, responsive and caring. The facility was... amazing and beautiful, as were all of the food and drink selections. The more exclusive gormet restaurants were excellent but the buffets for every meal were equally varied and great with new themes and possibilities each day. There was no shortage of fine meats, fish, shellfish and especially lobster. So much lobster that I actually didn't want anymore. If there was an annomally with the food/drink, the wine selections were a bit disapointing but with all of the other top shelf drink possibilities, it was hardly an issue. My only suggestion for possible improvement would be a review of all the facility has to offer and any perks the customer is entitled to at the time of checkin, so that the visitor could maximize their stay and plan what they really want to experience each day, instead of learning of things as they go. To summarize this was a great way to break up a cold and gray Philly winter with some Sun, Surf, Food, Drink and R&R. by a Hotels.com guest on 02/11/13

    With four à la carte restaurants, another on the beachfront, and an international buffet, the chefs on the hotel grounds offer a menu that lets you select from the most elaborate Japanese, Italian, French, or American cuisines, or try a selection of the finest and most well-balanced international cuisine, accompanied with a fine selection of wines, beers, and liquors.

    The 18 holes at the ‘Iberostar Bávaro Golf’ club, created by the designer P.B. Dye, stand out with their harsh hills and the crosswinds around the holes. We're both surprised when we arrived back to our room on the afternoon of her birthday. They had delivered a bottle of champagne and some type of cake to help us celebrate. No prompting on my part. Everything within a short walking distance from any room. Pools were clean, cabanas and beach palapas not difficult to secure with friendly, fun staff at your beck and call. Food in general was plentiful […] and delicious and of great quality. The offerings included grilled lobster and choice of steaks at lunch and the a la carte restaurants offered interesting choices. Service was beyond what one normally expects at an all inclusive. Actually, EVERYTHING at this resort was beyond our expectations.     We just came back from a 5 night stay with our adult children. Do not understand all the complaints about dinner reservations and the butlers. All was fabulous. We did a 1/2 day ray/snorkeling trip with Blue which was great, and my husband and boys loved the golf. The staff could not have been more accommodating. My daughter has severe food allergies […] and we don't really speak Spanish (which would have helped - most of the staff only have rudimentary English) and the entire kitchen worked to make sure my daughter was happy. And they ensured all of our special requests were honored. Loved Happy Feet and Boom Boom! Loved the shows - so much energy and enthusiasm. We tried all the restaurants. They weren't Capital Grille but they were good. Loved the all-inclusive everywhere you went. Great pedicure too. My only complaint was the upkeep and condition of the property. However, swim up bar 9/10, beach chair options 9/10, spa was 7/10, the food was 6/10, the room service was a 5/10, the beer options were 4/10, the liquor options were 4/10, the scenery was a 9/10, the facility was a 9/10 so overall I'd give it a 8.4/10, the food being the biggest let […] down. No good seafood. But the lunch buffets were pretty solid. The junior ocean suite was nice, the swim up bar, jacuzzi, pool was all exceptional so if the beach is what you're looking for this place is pretty legit. Especially compared to other places in Punta Cana, which looked pretty shaky at best. Overall, very nice place. The way to get the best view of ocean would be to get a room 2nd floor or higher.     First impressions are always the most important. Last Iberostar (Jamaica) we stayed at I can still tell you our bell hop and butlers name. They always greeted us by name. We did not get the personal service at this Iberostar that we have in the past. We had to wait over 1 hour to get into our room. Check in was very unprofessional. We had one request […] on our reservation that was made over 3 months before traveling. The request was to have our room located on the topmost floor. We were on the 2nd floor out of 4. Barley a ocean view room. Butler that explained our room to us was very inexperienced. Survey was passed out midweek about our stay and the shows, The day before we checked out we were asked if we had any concerns or complaints (via phone) about our stay. If we had a Butler that was a TRUE Butler he would of known about our concerns and complaints before a survey came out. We did see several people carrying there own luggage when leaving as we did. That is when a different Butler came and ask us (the day we were checking out) how they could improve our stay. We save for an entire year for 1 week vacation and we feel we did not get what we paid for on this vacation. Food was great! Beach staff, pool staff, and restaurant staff was very attentive and friendley. Room and ground always clean. The best service we received was from the Blue assistance that helped us with our excursions. Read more

    Fist of all - if you haven't made your mind for Punta Cana yet - don't hesitate. It has the best beach, weather and hospitality we've seen so far. The Grand Hotel - exclusive property, great room, Jacuzzi with a view, 24h room service. The food - overall great food can be found for every taste and preference. For dining go to the buffet restaurant and […] reserve in advance the French and the Italian a la carte restaurants. We visited the other a la carte restaurants as well as restaurants in the adjacent Iberostar resort - still good food and experience but not at the level of these three restaurants. What we found off-putting in the beginning was the constant attention of the staff. Everyone is greeting you all the time, you get maid service twice a day, complimentary bottle of wine is coming, the floor butler is stopping by to check on you - it could be overwhelming. But the staff is very flexible, they quickly got it that we preferred to be left alone, and we learned to use the Do Not Disturb sign, so it was all good at the end. We just wanted to rest and lie on the beach/along the pool, but the snorkeling mini excursion (organized by the Diving center) and sailing with the catamaran were great experiences, totally worth the cost and time. Most people believe this is the best resort in Punta Cana and though I cannot confirm it, I can see why they think so. I do recommend it and would visit it again for sure. Read more

Let's just say we are going back - hopefully in 6 months! The resort is 5 stars all the way. The staff learns your names and their outstanding service with a smile is a huge plus. Meet your butler […] from the first night as he is the key to all that is good! Need something special? Just ask. Did I mention there are no children here? Not only are there no children but no children or their families from neighboring resorts are permitted to step foot on the property. Honestly we felt like rock stars. The overall service and attention to detail, from my personal butlers, to the bell men to the maid service, was exceptional. The staff was always attentive and responsive. Often, they fully anticipated my needs. The room (Junior Suite) was a bargain and gorgeous. The King […] bed was soft enough for me and there is a "pillow menu." The restaurants were good and tastefully appointed. I liked "Iltaliano" best. The beaches were clean and private, as were the many pools. You should be prepared to tip the staff during each day. I tip generously but gave even more at this wonderful place. Special thanks to Wilnet, Juan, Humberto - Bell Men, Julio and Mattilde - Bar, Yafveisy - Maid, Henry, Enrique, Gomez and my other primary butler (whose name escapes me now). A patient and amiable young golf pro, named Santana, gave us a 30 minute golf lesson each and played 4 holes with us. He solved my 20 year fundamental flaws in 30 minutes. From the very beginning with the welcome champagne, pina colada and cool towel to the very sad goodbyes at the end everything was wonderful! The staff (Happy Feet, Boom Boom, and Maria...just to name a few!) were all absolutely wonderful! Everyone aimed to please […] at all times! They are all such hardworkers and very appreciative of tips! The food was awesome! Filet, duck, lamb, japanese, breakfast...the list goes on and on. They had top shelf drinks and always kept your in-room fridge stocked with beer, wine, water and soda. The housekeeping staff did a wonderful job and the entire place is kept up beautifully! The outdoor entertainment staff, in particular "Boom-Boom," he was beyond entertaining, he was a pleasure to hang out with. Food was equally awesome, top notch staff as well. Waiter Elias was awesome, along with head chef Altagracia. Be sure to ask for Victor-phenomenal cook & entertainer. Buffet restaurants were good, especially breakfast. Room service was good many selections on the menu. Very honest staff, two people in our group lost items, one lost a watch that was found on the beach and returned and one lost shoes at the pool that were also returned. The buffet wasn't terrible, but the speciality restaurants were not up to what we had expected. The last 24 hours of our stay was spent in our room with intestinal problems. The other disappointment was a smell in our room...musty/moldy...as […] if the room hadn't been aired out, ever. We had two rooms and the second room wasn't as offensive. In Iberostar one of our guiding principles is to offer a wide range of dishes to cater a large group of nationalities that visit our premises. Finally, we normally provide an aromatherapy system that helps dehumidify and eliminates bad odors caused from the humidity produced from the contrast between the cooled inside air co in the room and the warm external air outside the room. When both enter in contact, this produces the humidity. This is something very typical of the tropical climate, especially in Punta Cana whose surroundings are mainly composed by beautiful mangroves.

    We weren't for our honeymoon and had a great experience. The few reviews that dogged on the resort are just being snobby. You aren't going to leave craving the food once you get home, but it is high quality resort food. I read one review where the woman was upset they didn't have her table of ten ready for her reservation at one of the restaurants. […] It says right on the reservations that they can only seat parties of 6, no more. Another review stated that the resort was in 'dier' need of some paint touch ups. We are either blind or were far too entranced of the beauty of the DR to notice. You can't turn your head without seeing staff doing something. The staff are more than accommodating all the time. We are already planning our return visit. We had an amazing time and would recommend this resort to anyone. If i could offer any advice, its a 3rd world country, there are language barriers at times, and you aren't the only person at the resort. Read more

    I loved everything about this hotel, it is so clean and well maintained, The rooms are beautiful, the beach and pool are a great way to cool off. The staff is so nice and accomdating. Great quiet place to book your stay!!

    The staff, rooms, food and beaches are A+. This was our 3rd trip to this hotel and our 7th in Punta Cana. This is by far the best hotel we have stayed in. With all the people that visit each day the staff actually remembered us from our last visit. I am still dreaming about the food at the Japanese and Gourmet restaurants. I really can't think of anything […] that I do not like. Tip for first timers: Make your dinner reservations at check-in, take advantage of the free lotion at the pool, take a cab to the Hard Rock if you want to go to a bigger Casino and take the Saona Island excursion for snorkeling.Beach is great. Servers come around so often you can't finish you drink before they come back. Pool area is fun and we always meet great people.You can customize your mini bar to suit your needs, just ask your butler for what you want. The rooms smell great, alot of resorts have the musty odor from the humidity - but not here. If you are looking to relax and be treated like VIP's, this is the place. Read more
