      The hotel and especially the grounds were beautiful. For the most part, the food was excellent as was the service. However, there were a couple of problems with both. First, it was very difficult to make dinner reservations for the non buffet restaurants. It is unclear why this needs to be so difficult and sees a funny thing to complain about, but many guests complained to us about it during their trip. Not the way you want to be spending your time while in paradise. Second, they tried to sell us on Club Melia, like a timeshare, and this experience was not positive. We were told we were having a tour of the hotel not a sales meeting. It took 2.5 hours not the 90 minutes they said and nothing was in writing. Enough said. Otherwise the trip was great! Staying at the Reserve over the main hotel was well worth the extra money. We felt like we had our own private pool!

      The Puntacana Hotel is a part of the larger Puntacana Resort. It is a gigantic complex of a hotel, condos, golf courses, a shopping center and the ocean. The Junior Suite we had for four nights was large (it had a large bedroom, OK bath and large sitting room. The included breakfast was good and the coffee excellent. Other restaurants on the property were a little expensive and just average. The beach was beautiful but the water had much seaweed. I would rate this hotel three and one half stars.

    Because the Hotel was full, we got a free upgrade to Iberostar Babaro and had access to all Hotels during our stay. Iberostar Babaro exceeded my... expectations and there is really nothing negative I can say. Only that the weather was not the best but it has nothing to do with the Hotel. Staff was friendly, good service, food was good (not the pizza), drinks were really good (coco loco, banana mama, rum punch and cuba libre) and the shows were entertaining. Very clean and spacious rooms and bathroom. Not a hotel I recommend for singles. In general I'll be back again. by Miguel  from Miami on 04/02/13

    I stayed here for a week with my boyfriend and some friends. The place is really big and provides lots of options at a reasonable price if you need to please a range of interests. Overall, the biggest positives were the wonderful staff and the very nice and well kept facilities. I have really never seen cleaner public bathrooms in my life! We also found […] that with $10 tips we could easily get the drinks to be reasonably strong. The biggest negative was the food, which was mostly pretty bad. They spend money on the ingredients, but the recipes are bad and sitting on a buffet doesn't help. To give a gauge: the cereal was inedible. The Asian restaurant was quite tasty, Steak was good, and the Mexican was fine. They make it hard to get reservations, even though the places are empty. More minor negative would be the relatively uncomfortable beds (both ours and our friends' weren't great) and the somewhat older bedspreads/curtains. The common spaces were kept at a much higher level than the rooms. Not a huge deal in a beach resort where you are outside a lot, but a small investment here would be a big upgrade. Also to note: the pool seats get reserved really early (before 8:30) so you need to get out there early or expect to sit on the beach a bit farther away. The seats at the beach were actually more comfortable in my opinion. Overall we had fun and were really able to relax. It seemed like a good value. However, I would look for a place with better food next time. Read more

We felt like we were stars :) From the first moment, when they welcome you with drinks, to the last moment when you leave with the smile on your face. Food was delicious and never ending; choices from all over the world. We loved restaurant on a beach (the one that becomes steakhouse at night); fresh squeezed juices, great fruits (pineapples tasted sooo good), great service- we loved especially Eduardo and Elisony. They were great. Thanks guys :) that's just few from many great sides of our vacation. I could go forever about people (soo beautiful and nice), food, clear water, clean beach (it was cleaned every few hours or so, maybe often), awesome activities (water aerobics, volleyball, Spanish classes, windsurfing and catamaran rental...), great restaurants (romantic dinner at French restaurants was just perfect, with roses, champagne, life music and steak to die for), gardens, pools, drinks.... The buffets & common areas are open air, warm, & humid. The specialty restaurants are air conditioned except for the steak house. The entertainment was enjoyable […] in the evenings. The staff is friendly & manages English fairly well, but Spanish is primary. Also, if you don't like large population density, this resort may not be for you. The beach & pool areas are crowded during the day, & finding unoccupied lounge chairs was a constant struggle. Your room & sometimes the open air lobby is the only place you will find quiet.     The hotel itself is very nice and set in lush surroundings. It sits side by side with the Iberostar Dominicana and you have access to all the facilities that both hotels have to offer under the all inclusive banner. Most of the staff were very friendly and accommodating although one girl on reception was most unpleasant. At one point during our stay […] we unfortunately had left the key in the room and went to reception to ask for another. This girl at the reception desk (unfortunately I didn't get her name) just kept looking at me as if I was something she had stepped in while I was explaining the situation. I did get a new key but she made it seem as if it was the most difficult thing in the world to provide it for me. The second incident was when we were checking out the same girl told my husband that he had to pay for the in room safe but we knew we didn't because at check in we were told it was included as we had booked through Expedia. The girl then insisted that we had booked through some other company but my husband was able to produce our confirmation from Expedia so she begrudgingly accepted and practically threw the check out invoice at him. Food at all the places we ate was okay but nothing fantastic - everything tasted a little bland but as with all all-inclusives (in our opinion) you get what you pay for. Also I saw one staff member from the Dominicana buffet (near the pool) leave the bathroom without washing her hands - a definite no no :( Read more

    I read a lot of reviews before selecting this hotel and most of them are accurate. It is truly a 3 star hotel so the service and facilities are consistent with that. I found the dining staff to be the best attraction, in addition to the beach which was superb. The bar staff was somewhat less friendly but I read they treat you better if you tip, which […] I didn't. The food choices were more than sufficent but do tend not to be hot, sometimes barely warm. I often found myself wishing for a microwave! The room was nicely/modestly appointed but the bed was definitely too soft. My air conditioner didn't work well either most of the time even though they sent someone to fix it. It's true, make your reservations for the speciality restaurants as soon after arrival as possible. Also, explore the resort as some shops and dining areas are a little hidden--I finally found the soft serve ice cream machine 4 days after my arrival! There's place to go shopping for typical tourist stuff up the beach to the right. Make sure not to take the first price they give you! All in all it's a very nice place! Read more

    This was our 4th trip to Punta Cana. We have stayed at the VIK, Occidental Grand, Ocean Blue and now Iberostar Punta Cana and would rank the Iberostar #1. The room was fine, always plenty of bottled water, soda and beer in the refrigerator, a safe that worked and Mildred cleaned it very good every day. Nothing too special but who wants to hang out […] in the room anyway? There were always plenty of chairs on the beach. I rarely saw chairs that weren't reserved by the pool but if I wanted to hang out by the pool I would have just gone to Florida. Punta Cana is all about the beach for us. The buffets had plenty of variety for us so we didn't go to the other restaurants. The fish and deserts were always spectacular. The bars were always fun. Maria in the lobby bar took real good care of us, the guys running the beach bar were a lot of fun and Romeo at the show bar was awesome. Here's my main advice: you're on vacation, have fun! If you are particular about every little thing, don't choose this hotel or any hotel on the cheap/medium cheap price range. If you are expecting to be pampered and every employee to speak perfect English, you will need to spend more money on the hotel. With that said, we are very easy to please. As long as there is a clean bed/bathroom, no bugs/critters in the room, a good selection of food at the buffet for Dinner, and chairs available at the beach we will be happy.     The room was in disrepair upon arrival we called the front desk about or air conditioning not working, and the bathroom faucet about to fall off, this was our sixth time at this resort so we expected repairs done or moved to another room. 14 days later nothing was fixed! Our Blue rep. was not interested in helping with anything, and we had to chase her down the last day for our pick-up time for the Airport.     The food was ok. Pretty much anything you felt like eating was available. However it didn't have a lot of flavor like they didn't use much spices. The beach was beautiful and the water warm. Although we would have preferred a little more privacy because it seemed there were people everywhere.     This was my third stay at an Iberostar hotel. I would have to say it was the best of all. The food was very good. The buffet for all meals was much better than I ever expected and far superior to the specialty restaurants. The beach is incredible at over five miles in length. I definitely plan to return.

    At first, we found the staff to be pleasant, however as the week went on and we encountered problems, we found most of the staff rude. If you didn't speak Spanish, they were very rude and acted as if they were doing you a favor. From the front lobby fountains being dirty to the rooms being out-dated and mildew around the bathroom ceilings, and the maids […] only half cleaning the rooms, every-other day, the quality at a Days Inn is much better. Forget trying to get bottled water!! They only filled the mini-bar every other day We had to plead with the maids when catching them in the hallway for more water, and they acted as though they couldn't spare a water!!! The food in the buffet was horrible!! If you like salty, processed meats and canned/frozen vegetables or unripe, tasteless produce, then maybe you will find it appealing.     The Iberostar Punta Cana and the adjesent Iberostar Dominicana are basicaly 2 hotels in one. We stayed at the Punta Cana and used both hotels .     I was there in March 2011. From day one to day 8 I had a perfect vacation. The stuff was friendly, the food was good, the beach was clean. I was worrying about the construction of the other hotel. But it was really minor inconvenience.It was covered by big green fence. I definitely recommend this hotel.
