Alexander Hotel Palme - Chianciano Terme

This Hotel is a lovely old Grand Hotel. The staff could not be kinder. WE LOVED our stay. As Americans, we have never had this type of experience. The town's economy is based almost entirely on the Terme-Health care subculture. The town is filled with hotels of all kinds. There are also very nice shops. The old part of the town is darling. We we surprised […] to find few restaurants. I think we sampled all of them! The town culture is that Italians get prescriptions from their doctors to take the waters of the terme. they then plan a get-away based on this. We visited most of the Terme places. we have never seen this type of thing on this level. we spent a lovely day at Sensoriale. It cost 45 Euros for a 3.5 hour visit to the spa. We brought our 12 year old twins to sample all the water therapies, saunas, aroma and music therapy as well as the therapeutic clay. We made our appt for 10AM and it is located in a huge manicured park with a lovely huge patio with many chairs. People were sitting under the trees enjoying the waters while listening to a talented night club act-all at 9:30AM!!! This site is unheard of here in the US. We had a blast. all the termes are in lovely parks in this town. Back to the hotel: This hotel puts out a huge continental type breakfast with Francesco at the helm making coffees to order and offering eggs for order too. Francesco speaks many languages and is such a warm man- no request is too much. Our room was a room for my husband and me with an additional room with twin beds for my girls. they both had a TV-all Italian language channels. this was great way for us to practice. The receptionist, Rita speaks English and could not have been more kind to us. The culture of all these hotels is such that most people take their dinners in the hotels they are staying in.
