My husband and I just returned from our trip to Great Exuma which we enjoyed very much! We had booked a hillside room at the Hideaways Inn which turned out to be across the street from and not very close to the hotel. Since a large group of people was about to arrive, we unfortunately were not able to get an upgrade. The beaches at and around the hotel […] were beautiful and the water was clear and very warm The hotel offers two catamarans for rent. We took one out to sail to near-by Stocking Island but had to return soon because of a sudden storm and rain. Since the boat was not in a very good condition, we did not try to rent it again. We took the water taxi to Stocking Island instead. The Hideaways Inn offers a free shuttle service to and from George Town every two hours from 9 am to 5 pm which we liked. The food at the bar of the Hideaways Hotel was good even though the choice was somewhat limited. Most of the time we went to the restaurant of the hotel next door for dinner. Read more

This hotel was family owned by husband, wife, their daughter and son in law. Grounds very clean and neat and we had beach front cottage which was very nice and great location. Loaner kayaks, sandy beaches, nice people. Restaurant could us an expanded menu, but food was good. Rooms clean and comfortable. The whole resort is clean, they even rake up any sea weed that may wash up on the beach. Hobie cat rental on site. Take the van into town and catch the water taxi over to Stocking Island. Ask and the water taxi will drop you […] directly back at the hotel. Internet is wireless and doesn't have great range. Works mostly around the pool. Cost $8 a day also. Spent nine days in unit 14, a two room cottage about twelve feet from the beach. Outstanding value. We were there over the holidays and nothing was crowded Owners are Canadian and live there on the island. Everything was clean and well maintained. Eat at Cheater's or Fish Fry down the street, August Bay very overpriced. Taxis are obscenely expensive, rent a car at Thompsen's across the street. When (not if) we return we will rent a boat and not a car. You can access restaurants, food and booze shopping in Georgetown, fabulous empty beaches, island across the harbor with the boat. We expected a small cheap shack when we booked, and were amazed at the unit we got, the location, and the scenery. The beach was nice with some rough spots (broken glass), we enjoyed the kayak usage and walk to nearby (very clean) Jolly Hall beach. We brought much of our own food and used the small refrigerator and microwave. 4 nights at Palm Bay. 1st room had no hot water, neary non existant Internet. 2nd room was OK. Food there is not very good and the food service is dismal. Ate at the Agusta Hotel 2 doors down. Excellent there. Would stay at the Agusta if I was you.

Stayed in a Hillside studio room with ocean view, if you are wondering if paying extra for the view is worth it, I'd say it is if you spend much time on your balcony, otherwise you'll be looking at a wall or hill right in front of you. The beaches are lovely, it's worth walking five minutes along the beach to a different beach around the corner, the […] sea is calmer, less wind (which is refreshing at times) and softer sand. Not the the hotels beach has anything wrong with it. The food at the bar is expensive and includes a 15% tip but its fine if you don't want to go anywhere else. There is a nice restaurant in one of the hotels next to it that do a good surf and turf and the fish fry with lovely food is only a 10 minute walk down the road. Free shuttle into town was useful and free hire of kayaks was good. Snorkelling equipment rental is $12 a day per person. Buy some water in town as the tap water tastes a bit of chlorine, bought water is cheap. Would recommend staying here if you're looking for some peace and quiet, stunning views and beaches Read more

We refuse to stay at all-inclusive resorts and this vacation proved our point - nice accommodations, better food & beverages, at a quaint hotel where you're not sharing the pool & beach with more than a few people, for the same $. Great hosts - friendly, helpful people. A very safe environment with a lot of amenities and those you can't find at the […] hotel, are only a short walk or car ride. Fifteen minute drive from the airport, a mile from George Town (complimentary shuttle), 10 minute water taxi to Stocking Island and only a short walk down the beach from the hotel to beautiful Jolly Hall Beach. Stocking Island is a great day trip to enjoy the sailboats and lunch and a Bahama Mama at the Chat 'N Chill. The stingrays are abundant, looking for remains of the conch. The Splash Bar and Grill at the hotel served up various items - chicken fingers, conch burgers, salads, full entrees and don't forget to try the pizza! Bahama Mama, Goombay Smash and The Splash were all delicious. Take a day or half day excursion to see some of the 365 cays around Exuma. The rooms at the hotel were clean & we enjoyed a king bed, satellite TV, fridge, microwave, full bath with tub and shower, a/c & ceiling fan. We also had a table & chairs outside our door, on the balcony. The only disappointment was the distance from our room to the pool, restaurant, beach - moreso that it was an uphill hike, than the distance! We are already planning to return next year. My fiancé and I stayed in a studio style villa that had a small kitchenette. We had everything needed to make ourselves at home but the bed described as a king was actually two single mattresses pushed together. The air conditioners worked really well, we had one in our room and one in the dining/living room. We were hoping to buy local foods to cook […] with upon arrival but almost everything is imported and fresh produce was expensive sompatedyo Canadian prices. The hotel makes it very easy to get to Georgetown, offering a free shuttle every two hours between 9am and 5pm. You may be able to request for someone to stock your fridge with some food if you arrive on the weekend as grocery stores are closed on Sundays. (We met a couple who had done this but we didn't) There are computers in the lobby for complimentary use. Wifi is $7 a day or $40 for the week but we heard it wasn't reliable. The water was fine to drink but tasted a bit different so a case of bottled water was $15/30 bottles compared to $1-$2 at restaurants (there wasn't a recycling program so that may be something to consider). The restaurant Splash was very tasty and reasonably priced. The menu ranged from local entrees to American food such as burgers, pizza, and hot dogs. The beaches nearby are nice enough; we spent our mornings at jolly hall beach mostly. Read more

Sehr schöne Anlage, allerdings entspricht die auf der rückwärtigen Seite gelegene Bucht eher den Vorstellungen eines einsamen Strandes in der Karibik. Der hoteleigene Strand ist nicht sehr groß und im Wasser sind mehr Felsen. Die Häuschen sind sehr geräumig und mit einer kleinen Küchenzeile ausgestattet. Leider gibt es in der Nähe des Hotels keinen […] Supermarkt, sondern man muss mit dem (Gratis)Shuttlebus oder mit dem Auto ca. 15 Minuten bis zur nächsten Einkaufsmöglichkeit fahren. Essen und Getränke bekommt man allerdings auch in der Beach-Bar (auch Frühstück), aber nicht ganz so günstig. Wir waren nur drei Nächte dort, dafür hat die Anlage gereicht. Für einen längeren Aufenthalt gibt es sicher schönere Strandhotels und wäre auch die Anmietung eines Autos zu empfehlen. Read more

Een week bij Palm Bay verbleven. Waren erg tevreden over de Cocoplum-villa die we (online) hadden geboekt. Maar dat kwam met name omdat we er in het laagsoeizoen zaten. Denk dat het in het hoogseizoen best druk kan zijn, want het is een vrij groot complex. Online konden we met 40% korting boeken. Ter plaatse wilden we nog 3 nachten extra bij regelen, […] maar hebben dat uiteindelijk ook weer online gedaan om dezelfde korting te krijgen. Het hotel kon zelf die prijs niet bieden! Read more
