The room was awesome. Very clean and the sheets were fresh which is very important. Service at the restaurant in the lobby area was really slow. I was trying to make it to a concert at the Arie Crown and figured we could catch a quick bite first. I ordered a salad and my husband ordered a bowl of soup. It took forever, so don't go if you're in a rush. […] Our waiter even commented that they're not the fastest kitchen. But overall great stay, great room. This hotel blew away all my expectations - you really get what you pay for. It would normally be outside my budget, but I used a Welcome Rewards night to bring it down. My fiance and I stayed for two nights while she was looking at law schools in the area, a Friday and Saturday night. When we first arrived, the doorman greeted us and had a nice conversation […] with my fiance while I tried to pay for the cab (the driver's credit card reader was really slow). The front desk people could not have been nicer and gave us perfect directions to the room - it is actually kind of a weird layout, with lots of turns. The room itself was gorgeous, the bathroom especially - huge glass shower stall, separate tub that could fit two people, huge vanity. My fiance was incredibly excited about the bathroom, and she is very picky. The doorman gave us great walking directions on several occasions to nearby attractions and amenities. One of the best hotels in downtown Chicago! Gorgeous hotel - from the lobby to the halls - very warm and inviting - modern and sleek. The room decor was very nice, the bathroom was great...the bed...aweful...the box spring was falling out of the frame and I called to have it fixed but never fixed it. So I kept feeling I was rolling out of bed because it was not straight.

Wow . . fantastic room, world's deepest soaking tub, amazing room service breakfast. JW Marriott knows how to pamper. Rivals Four Seasons, and beats Ritz Carlton. Perfect. Plus, hop, skip and a jump to the art museum and the opera house.

Sad! The reality is that the hotel was a good choice, but the fact that the bell-boy stole my passport & wallet (containing quite a sum of money) from my stored luggage was completely unacceptable! Unfortunately I only realized this when trying to check-in at the airport for my flight out! The JW Marriott is a beautifully restored historic building, short walk to Willis Tower, Grant Park, Michigan Ave, Art Institute etc. We found it a great choice for a weekend getaway in Chicago. Spotless room, excellent bathroom, helpful service. Only negatives were charge for wi-fi and swimming pool closed.

It was close to most everything and the staff was incredibly nice. Only complaint I have is with the Spa services. I was charged for things I didn't receive.
