"komplett neu Renoviertes Hotel in Strandnähe!"

"Traum Hotel in Strandnähe"
Früherer Check-In stellte kein Problem dar.

"Flott ferie hotell"
Hotell Apollo gir nye for pengene. Sentral plasseribg med alle fasiliteter i nærgeten. Godt over gjennomsnittlig standard.

"Very pleasant extended week-end trip to Slovenia"
07/20/15 rAzArAC Belgrade
The Hotel is part of a chain of hotels in Portoroz, Opatija and in Italy. The Apollo is one of 6 houses in Portoroz which belong to this group. they are all located centrally in Portoroz. The Apollo was recently renovated which means the rooms are top notch furnished and in excellent condition. The bathrooms while small are very nice and clean. Housekeeping is doing an excellent job every day. We book half board with breakfast and dinner, one one day we asked to switch dinner for lunch as we wanted to eat out in Piran, for a small surcharge we ate at the 5 star Hotel Portoroz. The food is generally good, definitely not spectacular, but eatable, though next time I might skip the half board and go only for breakfast. But please note that we got ahlf board for only EUR 30 more than a 3 night stay with breakfast only, so it was money well spent. The Apollo does not have it´s own swimming pool, but guests can use the facilities of other hotels so this was OK. Also hotel guests can use the private beach club as well only a 4 EUR charge for a sunbed applies which is also OK. Our tip would be to go use the public beach, which is very neat and built on sand which is nothing to be taken granted in Istria. There is plenty of restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but only one supermarket for other needs. All in all we can recommend this hotel for anybody who wants to just relax and recuperate from whatever they need recuperation from. Only one point for criticism, the AC work in general but the cooling capabilities are very poor, which should not be a problem normally, however on hot and humid days the AC will struggle to keep you cool and calm!

"disapointment"

Reserved at Booking.com 6 months prior to stay. Reserve was for family room with balcony, on half-board basis. I asked for a room on higher levels for a view to the ocean. Room that was assigned was 110, first floor, faced east on side/back of hotel, could see the ocean streching my neck on window and betwen trees folliage. The table that was reserved for us on restaurant was the worst possible: straigh from entrance, with everyone passing by, no privacy at all. but the worst was AC geting broked on first night, we asked for repair and it was solved while we had dinner. The second night AC shut down around 1 Am and we couldnt sleep all night! 35 º C , room was like a sauna. No possibility of going to balcony, as we didnt have one.

"Sadly disappointed"
06/30/15 ProfessorOnzaga Kenosha, Wisconsin
After an arduous business trip, I was hoping for a lovely retreat at a seaside resort on the Slovenian coast, which unfortunately did not come to fruition. We had booked the rooms three months in advance, thus expecting those with a sea view. To my surprise, when opening the shutters I found that there was barely a view of the sea: trees were blocking most of the water. When I asked to be moved, they informed me that the hotel was full. I believe that 1) if I didn't have a Slovenian surname and 2) had I made the reservations as an American versus my cousin who is from Slovenia, they would have given me a room with a view (a common practice amongst ex-Communist countries). The room was spacious, modern and clean. The bed was comfortable and had nice linens, and there was a bathtub. The receptionists, however, were unfriendly and not very helpful. Moreover, at 8:25 the first morning the cleaning service entered my room without knocking: fortunately I had just finished dressing (I threw such a fit that they stayed away until late morning during the rest of my stay) The bar downstairs opened at 5 pm yet was closed every night by the time we got in, even at 9:30 pm, so we could not enjoy a late-night cup of tea and there was no coffee nor tea maker in the rooms. And the breakfast was pitiful. The apple juice was so watered down that I spit it out. The waitress brought one coffee, but ordering a second proved difficult if not impossible. They were slow to refill plates that were empty and one morning the bread was stale. For 124 Euros in Slovenia, I expected better and was sadly disappointed. There are many other hotels in which to stay (the Riviera seemed lovely) and I would recommend looking elsewhere unless you are happy with an average hotel off of the beach.

"Central location, nice rooms, excellent food"
06/24/15 Mojca003 Ljubljana, Slovenia
I've already tried all hotels in Lifeclass range, except Apollo. I booked, because all others had no availability. If was fantastic. The room was spacious, had partial view of the sea. The hotel was refurbished in 2014. Extremely clean. The food was great. Although it's a four-star hotel (not five) there are cooks to make omelettes or pancakes at bkfst and dinners are tasty with just enough variety (buffet dinner). Staff is very friendly. If the chairs on the terrace were a bit more comfortable it would be great. Also the housekeeping could be better. It was quite different in other hotels from this one. They only did the very essential. It happened on an occasion that they entered the room quite early and I was not able to put things together. Everything was lying around. They didn't pick up anything and left a mess. The pool directly accessible from the hotel lacks a larger outside pool. There are three pools inside, but in summer when weather is nice you'd like to go out, stay in the sun. The upper terrace is with a "poodle" is a bit embarrassing. Especially since it caters also for a nearby five-star hotel. We used the other pool at Riviera hotel. I also tried their beauty spa. Facials were great, skip massages though. Way below average with a masseuse, who never smiles, rudely throws paper thongs and at the end of a massage says no more than "that's it". Not to mention that she even didn't bother to come and pick me up downstairs and simply yelled my name from the top of the stairs. And the massage was, as I mentioned, really, really below average. Otherwise the location is great, the beach, which belongs to the hotel is great.

"Perfect getaway"
03/24/15 JGolicnik Ljubljana, Slovenia
Very tastefully renovated, spacious room, overlooking pine trees, away from noise, yet situated in the centre of town. Room was spotlessly clean, bed and pillows very comfortable. Breakfast is self-served with plenty of healthy dishes and fruits. I loved the delicious green tea! If you come early enough there's no queue for omelettes and pancakes. The best thing is the corridor that connects wellness center with the hotel. Wellness is just perfect, except the Wai thai spa is located in the other hotel nearby - good to know before you plan to visit it especially if you're wearing only a bathrobe. There's an extra charge for using the bathrobe - 6e. Staff is friendly and helpful. I'm sure I'll return there soon.

"Good value spa hotel"

We stayed only for a weekend in December to relax. Room 415 had no view, but we didn't plan to have a view. Pricewise it was a good deal - 112 EUR per night, including breakfast. Hotel was recently renovated and rooms look very nice. Decently sized, enough of space to stay for a week and stow your luggage. Bathroom was good, walk in shower, everything looked new and modern. Both room and bathroom were clean. Wireless worked flawlessly, large TV had plenty of channels. Pools are great, large enough for a proper swim (there is even a 25m pool, though water is quite warm). Enough of space to sit around. Optional services are excellent, plenty of different treatments and massages (as a surcharge). Breakfast was OK. Relatively good selection, though i missed better selection of meats and cheeses. Unfortunately the queue for omelettes or scrambled eggs was quite long. Reception is also OK, staff is friendly enough. Though we had to wait 10-15 minutes to check out. There is a free hotel parking nearby (no need to pay extra 15 eur for a garage), though it can be quite full. Location is a few meters off the main road, and even more from the beach. Only downside is that you have to walk up quite a steep hill to reach a hotel or parking from the main road (a hint - if you have a problem walking you can use an elevator in the wellness to reach the hotel - but only during the open hours) some minor complaints... - only one elevator that takes long time (I usually walked up to the 4th floor)... - there is a surcharge for bath robe (6 eur), with no slippers added. - swimming pool could operate longer hours during the weekends (only up to 21:00) All in all... enjoyable stay and highly recommended. Was here really to relax and use its facilities and not go for a beach or similar.

"Very good hotel in a central location"
07/23/14 rheadworth Leamington Spa, United Kingdom
Bored with the dire weather back in England, we decided to get a cheap flight to Trieste and have a long weekend by the sea. Having stayed some years ago at the Grand Hotel Portoroz, this sister hotel was cheaper, so we decided to try this. We arrived late as it's about an hour and a half from the airport to Portoroz - but the guy on reception was friendly, efficient and checked us in without any problems. My room was very nice - 2 single beds, satellite TV, aircon but a view that was to the back of the hotel, not a sea view - not that this mattered as I hadn't come here to sit in a hotel! The bathroom was good - clean and had plenty of hot water in the shower. Just a word of warning - this hotel is part of a complex and is set slightly back from the rest of the hotels. You have to negotiate some pretty steep steps (which feel especially steep when it's 32 degrees) to get to the hotel reception - or go via the road up a hill. Therefore, not sure I would recommend this for anyone with mobility issues. The breakfast in included and the buffet is excellent. Lots of choice and the food is readily replaced by the staff. It gets pretty busy so I wouldn't leave it too late to head down there! Overall, a very good hotel which I would recommend if you are fit and mobile.

"Lovely Hotel in Portoroz"
07/19/14 157Travel_bug157 Pickering, Ontario Canada
We stayed at the Hotel Apollo for 2 nights. We had stayed at the Hotel Riviera the week before and loved Portoroz, so we decided to go back on our way back to the Venice airport. The location of Hotel Apollo is not as good as that of the Riviera because there is a little hill that you have to climb, but overall, this hotel is more modern and more like a boutique hotel. It was recently renovated so the colours are more trendy and the beds were more comfortable. We had a room for 2 adults and 2 children so we had a king size bed and a pullout couch. The room size was plenty and everything was very clean. We preferred the restaurant at Hotel Apollo because there seemed to be better variety of foods and the foods seemed healthier, with more of a Mediterranean influence. We still had access to the Menduza beach which is quite nice with lounge chairs and umbrellas. Overall, we really liked Hotel Apollo and would definitely recommend it to others.

"Wonderful place for a winter break!"

We came in January for a few days of pampering in the spa that is connected to the hotel - and pampered we certainly were! The hotel staff were warm and accommodating, especially in the breakfast/dining room. A buffet dinner was included in our booking and we all looked forward to it as there was plenty of choice, with lots of tasty salads for starters and hearty main courses. Breakfast was excellent too. Our room was enormous, with its own terrace, although we couldn't see the sea as we were at the back. The rooms had been fitted out some time ago but were in very good condition and spotlessly clean. We really enjoyed the spa and the pools, although the Finnish sauna nowhere near hot enough!! It didn't matter that it was pouring with rain outside, as there was so much to do in the spa inside. We had a fantastic time!

"Nice hotel in Portoroz"
11/23/13 BNapotnik The Hague, The Netherlands
Upon check-in we reveiced a very nice big room in a high floor with a great sea view. The room was spotlessly clean. The staff was nice and friendly. The hotel has a connection with Therme & Wellness through a covered corridor that is very useful in a rainy weather. The food in a hotel restaurant was ok but nothing special. At dinner warm meals were mainly made or combined with frozen vegetables which makes a food a bit artificial and not so tasty. But the starters and salads were nice made. Breakfast is rich and tasty. Actually nothing to complain about. Good value for money.
