Hotel Duca di Calabria - Spadola

The Hotel Tropis is conveniently located to the downtown area of Tropea. It is new, modern, very clean and the staff was professional, friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The rooms also have nice balconies, a great addition. It was a little hard to find, as we did not come into Tropea from the autostrada. My only suggestion would be that they put a few signs in that direction. Otherwise, I highly recommend this hotel. It was a most enjoyable experience.

Wonderful three nights at Le Carolee. Beautiful building in magnificent setting. Sitting on the outside terrace with views looking down on acres of olive groves. A perfect spot for breakfast or an evening cocktail before dinner. Four course dinner from a selection of local produce was always excellent. The owners and staff were very friendly and attentive. Le Carolee is a real gem for those looking for a genuine Calabrian experience. No frills or glitz, just perfect simplicity. Located outside Pianopoli, look for the signs they are there! Rental car a must to explore the surrounding area. Easy drive from Lamezia Terme airport.

Located a few miles outside of town, tucked away behind an industrial plant, on unexpectedly beautiful grounds. In the middle of an olive grove with tennis courts and an incredible swimming pool that you would normally only find in a very high-end resort. I was very pleasantly surprised to find such a nice hotel in such a rural location.

We spent 5 days here and had the time of our life. It is a beautiful setting. The hotel is located in the mountains surrounded by olive groves. The setting is idyllic. It is not touristy at all. It is not frequented by Americans but we felt welcome and the staff was able to communicate fairly well in English. The rooms were impeccably clean and the shower was large. The breakfast was great and dinner was scrumptious. The pool was huge and most of the time we were the only people using it. During our stay we were fortunate to observe a baptism and two weddings. Although a bit noisy due to the celebrations, it was a true slice of real Italian culture that we were able to watch. The owner produces on site his own olive oil, cheeses, wine and several meats which add to the great quality that is difficult to find just anywhere. If you want a true Italian experience with all of the amenities-stay here. You won't be disappointed.

This is a beautiful place to stay. The hotel is located directly on the ocean with it's own private beach. My room had an incredible view of the italian coast. The food was outstanding. The water was warm and clear, bring a mask and snorkel. The best part was the staff. Very friendly and helpful. Thank you Fiona and Domenica for helping me with my train reservations and everything else. And a special thanks to the owner who took me to the train station personally so i wouldn't miss my train.
