The only unfortunate part for us is that we had only one night at Hotel Amira. Even that was cut short as we had a 6:15 a.m. flight home. However, from the moment we arrived until we departed, the personnel were absolutely outstanding. Sim greeted us and immediately sat us down and gave us a great orientation briefing. We just completed 9 nights at the Amira. From the start, the entire staff was pleasant and went out of their way to be accommodating and helpful in any way possible. From questions about the area to last-minute laundry to streetcar tokens they made sure we had what we needed. Our first room had just gone through significant insulation upgrade and we […] found it to be rather warm for our liking. They quickly suggested we move to a different room which made a big difference. We tend to like a cooler room which was challenging because, due to the cooler weather during our stay, the A/C is turned off at night at the hotel (and numerous others in the area). Other than that, the rooms were comfortable for 2 and the bathrooms were small but very functional. One BIG advantage we had here over people at other nearby hotels was that we did *not* hear the early morning call-to-prayer blasted from the nearby minarets. I can not stress how nice this was as it helped ensure uninterrupted sleep. The breakfast and tea were both delightful. We did not eat dinner there but other guests commented on how much they enjoyed it. The mix of guests was interesting. Not many families with small kids that we encountered but a mix of couples/groups from mid-20's up to their 70's or so. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves suggesting that the services are sensitive to all age groups. Bravo, Amira! You really helped to make our first trip to Istanbul a comfortable and enjoyable one. This hotel was superb. The staff was excellent and went out of their way to help you. I arrived at the hotel at 5 Am and asked for a room to sleep in for a few hours and they provided this at no extra charge. Their goal is really to please. There is a good breakfast included as well as a 4-6 pm tea, which has a lot of snacks.

The Hotel Amira reviews show it receiving 4.8 out of 5 possible points. That was the major reason we chose the hotel. It does not deserve anywhere near that number. Not only are the rooms unclean with black mold in showers and ceilings of room but they are incredibly noisy. My advice is to find another hotel in Istanbul, any other hotel.

If you do not speak Turkish, the hotel staff speaks English so do not let language hinder you. From the moment we arrived at Hotel Amira, we were treated like we were the only guests on the property. We were greeted with complimentary drinks on the terrace and able to enjoy their wonderful view of the city and surrounding coast. The only problem we encountered was that the tub in our room seemed to leak a bit onto the floor during use-- I should have mentioned this when checking out but forgot. The location is perfect, a five minute walk to all of the old town sites in Istanbul. We arranged for airport transfers through the hotel, which I would recommend as it was fairly priced and helped us avoid the risk of taxis in Istanbul (look into this if you haven't already). If we were to ever visit Istanbul again, we wouldn't even bother looking into any other hotels. We'd just go straight to Hotel Amira! During my stay in Istanbul (my first visit) I booked a night at the Hotel Amira thinking I wasn't going to be here for more than a night. My plans changed at the last min, so I booked my remaining nights for the DoubleTree. I have to say, I didn't want to leave the Hotel Amira. I arrived after traveling for 30hrs and the woman at the front desk was […] helpful, listened carefully to my needs, and provided me with a map of the city complete with easy-to-read landmarks. My room was just like the photos online and warm despite the cold rainy weather outside. The water pressure in the shower was great and they provide toiletries and a complimentary loofa. When I was checking out the next day, I offered to buy one of the hotel umbrellas and they instead gave it to me. I wasn't surprised as this was in-line with my experience at the hotel. It reminded me of the great customer service you get at Westin Hotels where I have stayed for both work and pleasure. Read more

Amira is located in Sultanahmet, just a short walk to the Blue Mosque, Ayasofia, Hippodrome, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi palace, etc - so if that's what you are looking to see, i definitely suggest staying there (we stayed at another hotel in Nisantasi (new city) for the first few nights, before moving to Amira. Rooms are charming, cosy, and clean, staff […] are cordial and speak English, and there is a rooftop terrace in the summer perfect for a nice city view. The hotel created their own map that indicates sightseeing locations and also their recommendations for the best restaurants around (not that many in Sultanahmed; Beyoglu and to a lesser degree Nisantasi are much better for that) but we tried two of their suggestions and were not disappointed. would definitely return and would definitely recommend staying at Amira. I reached the hotel from the airport by taxi at about 11:30AM. The gentleman at the front dek apologized profusely for the room not being ready (even though check-in time was 4:00PM), and invited me to have breakfast. I am a very light sleeper, but even though our room was at street level facing the street, the hotel was soundproofed well. If I ever return to Istanbul, I don't know why I would stay anywhere else.
