Had a great stay at Dolores Alba. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about day trips, local shopping, etc. The room was also comfortable for the price. Beds were very hard - no springs under mattress. Sound from other rooms was disturbing - especially thru the bathroom vent. Breakfast was also disappointing - powdered milk for cereal, tang for juice and lack of sufficient cups, dishes, trays, utensils and glasses.

The hotel staff is extremely helpful and accomodating. The bed was comfortable, room air-conditioned, good shower--plenty of hot water, cable tv, good breakfast, and lots of shopping near by and a short walk to the Historic District. My ONLY complaint was that the pool water was too cold. I highly recommend it as a moderately priced hote.

grumpy and unhelpful staff. Asked for ice and was given one cube in glass. Ask for dining help and we were told to go to the tourist office a 20 minute walk. Breakfast is slightly better than airline food.

Basic, clean hotel in a perfect location close to the main square. Rooms are a bit outdated, but because furniture are basic and kind of minimalistic it did't bother me. It was just okay. The pool looked kinda dirty. The rooms were kept clean, but the beds were like slabs of concrete. The AC works great and keeps the room nice and cool. It is in a convenient location, close to downtown. The breakfast was not very good. Clean and safe for sure.

The staff weren't helpful and I speak Spanish, so I can't imagine what it was like for non-Spanish speaking guests. The breakfast is included but dreary. The plastic tables in the courtyard where you eat are depressing and a lot of the dishes are stained or chipped. The rate is good, but the neighborhood is not good. HORRIBLE! All I wanted for my stay was a clean bed. This hotel is filthy - dirty walls, doors, shower curtain. The sheet were stained. We had booked two nights at this hotel but decided to cancel our second night as soon a we walked into this completely run-down hotel.

For the price we paid- the air conditioning worked very well, the pool was nice, and we got three beds in the room. There was also a flat screen TV with many channels. The view over the courtyard and pool was nice. The staff was friendly. We enjoyed our stay. The only thing that needs improvement is the quality of the breakfast buffet.

Dolores Alba was an unexpected treat, for such a low price it was a wonderful hotel. Great to enter the relaxing courtyard and escape the heat and noise of outside (wonderful) Merida. Only complaint was that the pool used too much chlorine, it was hard to really enjoy it - but I liked that the pool was there.

near the center of town, it is close to major sites, but because of the way it sits in its block it is free of traffic noise and was quiet. our room was large and well maintained. the breakfast was simple, but there was plenty. the eating area was in a covered patio and very pleasant. the free parking was inside, but tight. the free internet was available […] in the patio with plenty of chairs and worked well. the plainess of the outside of the hotel contrasted to the beautiful tile floors inside. the pool was a medium size, clean with plenty of chairs for the guests and had a small garden for shade. the water was refreshing in the 95 degree heat. the air conditioning kept the room at a good temperature, and the windows were set to provide some light and little heat. the balcony from our room over the pool area was very small ( only big enough to stand), but looking out from inside the room was fine. for the cost of the room this place was an outstanding value, delivering what it promised. Perfect for our week in the city. walked everywhere, always felt safe! Only four blocks from all the action, yet nice and quiet! local buses were basic but safe! Tour guide David, throught Hotel, was one of the best ever! Hotel should have a small bar. Flamingos are a must see! City of a Million, felt like home.

The best accommodation and value for money we had for 3 months traveling in South America and Mexico! The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast included was good. WiFi internet was fast, and although it's not available in all of the rooms there are beautiful courtyards, deck chairs, rocking chairs, […] sofas and coffee tables, plus plenty of power points to use with your computer. The pool is lovely to sit around and very refreshing to dip in to. The open colonial building takes advantage of the wonderful climate of the region. Only very picky complaints would be about the music from a nearby cantina, the elevator not always working (which wouldn't have been a problem if I weren't pregnant) and the walk from the plaza feels like it's more than 3 blocks. The Dolores Alba is a great deal for the money: spotless, attractive and reasonably priced. We didn't need a lot of help from the staff, but they were responsive when we did ask. At least some of the front desk staff speak English. The pool area has some attractive vegetation around it and the small laundromat was helpful. Some people may be disappointed […] by the location. It is not in a neighborhood that has a lot of other things of interest to tourists except for the market, which is a couple of blocks away. We ended up walking elsewhere to eat, but the zocalo is only three blocks away and there are a number of restaurants within a block or so, so it's not like that was a big problem. Read more

I booked a tour with this hotel and went on a trip with a fine guide.
