"Best coffee in Ireland"
An excellent, comfortable, well appointed, perfectly staffed hotel ... excellent service, fantastic food, and the most comfortable room overlooking the sea and to top it all, the best coffee in Ireland! Will definitely visit again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quiet, beautiful Inn by the sea"
Quaint, quiet, relaxing and wonderful views from our windon/balcony. Enjoyed this Inn emensously, would definitely return on our next trip to Ireland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The ONLY positive thing about The Strand was the view. Carpets, etc. were dirty, room was minuscule, service was non-existent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Had five star personality."
Quaint bed and breakfast. The Rooms we rented were clean and tidy and had a great view. We would stay again. If you get the chance eat at the mansion on the hill it was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Lovely water view, watching people swimming and canoeing- Great little village, thatched roof cottages, we took a walk up the cornice, down towards the fishing port, that was wonderful. Staff was most helpful and cheerful, B&B good value for money, breakfast was wonderful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Super place to stay, with excellent service through"

"Lovely location, disappointing hotel"
Firstly, no free parking as stated on our booking form, we were told "find a space on the road". Next, the hotel had no record of our booking but did find us a room - we had a beautiful view and a tiny balcony ( not all rooms have balconies )but the room was very small. The shower area was teeny and had no heating! The owners are probably doing their […] best with a crumbling building but I would not choose to stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"5* Service, Food and Location"
Everybody has their own ideas about what they want from a hotel. The Strand Inn was perfect for us. Our room as bright, clean and comfortable and opened out onto a small balcony which overlooked the beach. It was quiet at night with just the sound of the sea and we were able to sleep comfortably. We enjoyed steaks on our first night which were cooked […] perfectly and served promptly by staff who at all times made us feel valued and welcome. We would return again to this Hotel and would recommend it to friends and family. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bring you earplugs"
Arrived - they didn't know I was booked - said they could accommodate me just because they had a cancellation. They put me in a room above to main bar. His is Saturday night and a band was performing . Originally scheduled to play from 10pm to 12am. The renegotiated to. Play a 1/2. Hr later . I don't mind a bit of music but the noise went straight through […] the floor . I couldn't get to until 3am along with the music I had to put up with the band talking loudly in the room next door after they played. I would not have minded if the were charging 50 euros for the room but 130 euros outrageous. On leaving I refused to pay the full price. To their credit the halved the room cost. So I strongly urge anyone wanting to stay that you don't under any circumstances stay in any room above the bar areas. My stay was absolutely horrible and has put a sour note to my trip to Ireland. "Stunning views, great location"
Stayed here for one night while at a wedding. Our room was great, with fantastic views overlooking the bay. The room was bright, spacious and nicely decorated. Very clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and the full Irish breakfast was very tasty. The rooms might be a little on the pricey side, but we didn't mind so much because the location was perfect […] and the view from our room was so good - though admittedly we were extremely lucky with the weather that weekend! "Brill, sands and sounds"
We intended to spend 1 night on our SE Ireland mini tour but decided to stay for 3 nights and make this our base. The exceptional summer weather played a part but our first sight of The Strand, busy with afternoon drinks and ice creams next to a quiet beach and looking out to the lighthouse on the Hook peninsular across the estuary, is one we'll never […] forget. Arriving midweek we had a choice of rooms and selected the brightest one with the biggest balcony. The food at breakfast and supper was mostly excellent, especially the pan-fried brill (a huge serving) and the live music, on our first night at least, was fabulous. Americans reading this will be interested to know that the shower head in our room was impressive though the cold water pressure was not and although a repairman was summoned on our first night and 'knew what to do', he'd not made a difference by check-out time. It's definitely a place we'll return to, even in less clement weather. The large patio slopes quite steeply away from the hotel to the sea wall: evidently it gets breeched in a roaring south-easterly! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"a little piece of heaven"
this was our third visit to the strand ,and everytime we return we fall in love with it more.A little inn beside the see that oozes charm, and tranquilaty and yet is full of life and character.the owners brother and sister Clifton and louise greeted us with teir usual warmth and charm and as usual louise gave us her expert advice on our choice of foof […] in their first class seafood restaurant that night...to top it all we had the room in the attic with its huge bed and luscious white linen with a view of the sea to die for!!!our only complaint was we couldn't get in for another night as they were fully booked our fault for not booking the 2 nights!cant wait to return agin and be totally spoilt Jacqui and paul Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The room was very small the whole place needs a better lay outGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a lovely small hotel in a most picturesque setting right beside the beach. The room was small but very well presented and with a sea view balcony. We stayed 2 nights and had all our meals there. The food was very good and although the restaurant was not open at this time of year the bar catered for all the diners with an all day bar menu and […] a full a la carte menu after 7pm. We really enjoyed the break and would love to return again in the future. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Let The People Know What You Have"
The web site does not mention that the price includes breakfast, it also does not mention that the hotel has free wifi which is a very important plus to a lot of guests. Just one little minus & that is that you are in the bar looking out at a lovely view tru very dirty windows. Regards Joe & FranGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good and Bad"
Stayed here during the August bank holiday weekend, amazing location, close proximity to the beach and adventure centre just a walk away. We had food more than once in the Bar during the day and the fresh Lobster was delicious, they have also dipped their toes in the craft beer movement with a limited selection but a choice none the less. However one could sit for anywhere from 30mins -55mins to have your dirty plates cleared off your table never mind if you were looking for a dessert.... The room was fine, clean and had a great view but with limited facilities available, our daughter is 5 and had been looking forward to pancakes on her holidays all week, but "we don't do pancakes" in fact aside from a standard breakfast and some cereal on the table in the restaurant there was very little on offer for brekkie.. Strange as the offering in the bar all week was very good.. Maybe their is a franchise in the bar/rest but not the Hotel/B&B... This place has potential to be a really great place, sort out the service and offerings guys, will be back to enjoy the food in the Bar/rest...
"Expensive and poor quality rooms"
10/23/14 Worldworn Singapore, Singapore
Stayed for 1 night recently with my wife, 2 year old and 4 month old, staying in the family room (which was actually two seperate bedrooms with a small corridor connecting them with the bathroom off it). The room was spacious, I'll give it that, but other than that there really isnt much to recommend the room in all honesty. Threadbare carpets, almost zero facilities, not massively comfortable beds, and a grimy bathroom all added up to a reasonably unpleasant experience overall. On a small positive note, the water was very hot and the shower powerful. We found service to be acceptable and very friendly (much like in the rest of Ireland) and the pub itself is really quite nice, having a warm homely feel to it. The restaurant, in stark contrast, was of a very decent quality - the food, service and ambience were all very pleasant, even if the large restaurant was perhaps only 20% full on the one night we were there. As some other reviewers have commented, the breakast really isn't up to much at all, especially given they're obviously geared up enough in the kitchen to offer a very good dinner service, although the home made muesli was pretty good. All in all there isnt much to recommend this as a hotel, and I wouldn't stay here again, but I would definitely return to the restaurant in the evening for supper, which has a deservedly decent reputation. Not recommended.
"Excellent location for family gathering"
10/21/14 Marie L Kilkenny, Ireland
We had a family gathering at The Strand Inn last weekend and it was terrific. We ranged in age from 3 months to 72 years and it worked so well. Great location, great food, staff really friendly and bedrooms cosy and comfortable with great views. It was great to wake up to the sound of the sea outside the window. Our group felt really comfortable and the children joined for dinner which was great. Dinner was excellent and in a very relaxed atmosphere. Bar staff really friendly. Well done to all and it is nice to see a family business like this thrive in these times. Keep up the good work.
"Beautiful view and room but expensive"
10/11/14 Diluki Bath, United Kingdom
We arrived here after I'd managed to tumble off my bike earlier that day. The evening reception staff were very sympathetic to my bloodied condition (!) and our room and the view definitely helped to make me feel better. The room was beautifully designed and the bed softened some of my aches and pains. The view of the beach was spectacular. However, it was very pricey for a Sunday night stay and the evening food was also slightly dear (albeit tasty). I would definitely recommend the crab claws. Breakfast was average.
"Best time ever in the Strand Inn Dunmore East"
10/08/14 Deirdre F Auckland Region, New Zealand
We recently stayed in this fantastic hotel .It was exactly what we were looking for .Situated right next to the beach ,location ,location, location sums up one of its attractions. But it was really the hotel and its staff which made our weekend " the best ever " The interior of the hotel is warm but also quirky ,we loved the array of amazing paintings throughout. The rooms are all individually designed ,leading to great inspections of each others rooms . The staff were so friendly ,they could not do enough for us . Next years trip is already planned

During our trip around Ireland, we found this Inn during one night late around 10.00pm and the reception was really wonderful, visit of the room before acceptance. Rooms quite clean but extremely old, wifi only working at the reception. The place is a restaurant, pub and inn so after 11.00pm everything is closed. For breakfast, nothing special, irish breakfast but the woman in charge was quite not friendly with all customers, something weird. Anyway, really good place to stay and we had our breakfast in front of the sea and we can even swim even if in september, the water is cold.
"Lovely staff but tired hotel."
09/20/14 Cliff B Melbourne, Australia
This hotel is getting very tired. They desperately need new carpets. There are nice areas such as the downstairs sitting room with comfortable couches but the bedroom we were given had a very dated and unappealing bathroom with a dodgy hot water tap. We ate dinner in the pub section rather than in their Seafood restaurant. It was pretty good, typical pub menu and well priced. The bar and wait staff were extremely good, very friendly and helpful. There was a hens night happening outside (below our room) so the noise level was bad for a few hours but no noise from the pub at all. Breakfast was ordinary and very basic considering it was a hotel with bigger kitchen facilities than a little B&B. My poached eggs were dished up with a couple of tablespoons of the cooking water floating around the plate. I had to soak it up with a serviette so I could put toast under the eggs. The cost of the room and breakfast was fairly high for the area and what was on offer. Not real value for money at this spot.
"Dirty and expensive"
09/15/14 manflick Wicklow
I wish I had read some reviews first. Food was quite good but service was slow and the place needs a real clean. Grubby, cobwebs, dusty. Far too expensive for what you get. It's like no one has any experience in catering or hospitality- front door of pub is closed,I've never seen this unless the pub IS closed. Container over flowing with cigarette butts at front door. I sat with a toddler throughout a football match and on leaving saw a kids playroom- the staff could have told me it was there!! Yes, my fault I didn't see it but it would be nice for the staff to pretend they care about their customers experience. Also broken glass that had not been cleared up properly. Would never go back.
09/02/14 RogerMaguire Dublin, Ireland
Dirty, lots of flies. Crap over priced food and the Guinness was really bad. Service woeful. They have a passing trade so they don't mind much. Windows could do with a clean as could the tables floor and everything else.
