    The location and room were both very satisfactory however, this was let down by an expensive evening meal, and a pricey breakfast which was not to my liking. To compound matters I waited 40 mins for this. The staff were surly and unhelpful. I have stayed here previously, but on this occasion I was disapointed with the level of service I received.

    This place would be stunning on a good day when you had time to enjoy the view and surroundings.Arriving, as i did, in the dark and leaving in the morning, this was a bit disappointing.The hotel is clean, warm and welcoming, but there were a few simple things which would have improved my stay: The car-park had puddles from the rain - but poor lighting, […] the TV in the room was tiny, the only plug was on the floor beside the chest of drawers so kettle and hairdryer were a fiddle to use, there seemed to be no ordinary sized portions on the menu - only the huge platefuls which are now normal and breakfast did not start till 0830.Ah well.     Symonds Yat East is a fantastic little getaway off the beaten path! Ideal for hikers, mountain bikers and canoeing enthusiasts! The staff at The Royal Lodge were extremely friendly and, despite the fact it rained all weekend, we had a nice stay enjoying the location right on the river. The en-suite room was nice, bright & clean, and the view of the […] River Wye from the bedroom window was very nice and relaxing. The only very minor complaint was that the bed was a bit uncomfortable and we could hear the bloke is the next room snoring in the night, so the walls are obviously a bit thin, but it didn't spoil our stay and we would certainly go back/recommend!     Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings but our room was directly above the bar and some noise could be heard. This wasn't much of a problem though. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was delicious

    was only there for the night but beautiful area, first time I haven't had phone signal (vodaphone) and best quietness for a long time. good breakfast and polite staff. a good stay if your in the area (better than a chain)
