For the price and location you can probably find something better. The room is somewhat on the small side but it is modern and comfortable. Not a lot of natural light or lighting in the room. The bathroom is also on the small side but again, not cramped. It was not what I wanted to see when arriving from a 24 hours of travel. They acted as though I was lucky to have my room ready even though it was 3pm after an unnecessarily long check in process - everything was prepaid and established ahead of time. They don't have porters to help with bags but if you look puzzled enough on how you will transport luggage they will tell you where the trolleys are so you can help yourself. I had booked the hotel because I felt it was a perfect location but really if you want to be in the city center you are better off on Collins near the Novotel Hotel. Read more

Great location, central to everything. Clean and spacious room. However, nothing in the fridge, no free water available, no snacks available. Basically you are on your own after check in. Staff were dreadful and are not friendly at all. TV channels are limited, no sports channel, no HBO.

PROS: Very helpful staff, very convenient location close to everything in CBD, close to lots of great restaurants. Rooms are rather spartan. CONS: No amenities. Rooms have only soap. Perhaps this is because they are set up for a longer-term stay, but they could do much to have shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, as you would expect at a 4-star hotel, […] not the public pool soap dispensers that are in the bathrooms and showers. As is frustratingly common in Oz, Citadines charges for Internet and Wifi in the room; they would win customers if they offered this for free. However, what is maddening that they charge to use computers in the lobby. Understandable if you are trying to limit people's time on the machines, but most other hotels offer free Wifi or internet in public spaces. Lastly, the TV/in-room entertainment system is ancient. No premium cable/satellite TV channels to speak of, and yet they have a mid-to-high-range HDTV's from LG Electronics. Waste of money. I would stay here if price compared to the Stamford Plaza was very competitive. Stamford remains the better hotel otherwise. Read more

My fiancé and I absolutely loved this hotel! It was convenient, clean, nicely furnished, and the staff was pleasant. The only negative was that our king bed appeared to be two twins pushed together instead of a real king bed, but that was minor. I would definitely stay here again!

Was in Melbourne on business for 5 days. The rooms were spartan and tired (depressing). The staff, pleasant and helpful. Cleaning staff does a good job. Location is the outstanding feature. However, I will look for an alternative on my next visit.

Booked the hotel through hotels.com for three guests (2 beds). Upon check in I was infomed that the second bed was going to be an additional nightly charge even though I had booked the specific room and paid the rate for it through hotels. Was treated very rudely by the staff at check in. When I first walked into the hotel I had a good impression as […] it looks very nice and the rooms are nice and new as well. This ended quickly though; the rooms were very inadequately cleaned; washcloths and handtowels were never replineshed and even with repeated requests for three towels (there were three of us in the room) we never got more than two towels our entire stay. I left the hotel late one day because I had work to do (at 1:00PM); the house keeping staff was still working and when I came back at 7:30 that evening they had put a note under my door at 2:30 in the afternoon informing me they were not going to clean my room. I went to get this remedied (this would be the 2nd day in a row without my room being cleaned) and was told that if I wanted it cleaned I should have informed the housekeeper in charge of cleaning my room! So if you like a clean room, at the agreed upon price, with enough towels for your guests this is not the place to stay! The only saving grace for the hotel is that the fitness center was nice, the beds are comfortable and the location is good. I personally would never stay here again since it was a pretty horrid experience for the most part. It's possible that the hotel will improve over time since it is a newer hotel and they may be working kinks out but in the meantime I wouldn't reccomend staying here. Read more

We found this to be an excellent hotel for our Melbourne stay. A short walk to central shopping, Bourke Street Mall, Little Bourke Street, Collins Street etc. etc. and also to the circle tram, Parliament, St Patrick's Cathedral, the Museum, Exhibition Centre and the stunning parks. I thought the room was good, had everything we needed but found the placement of some power switches to be quite surprising turning on and off areas which did not seem logical. The Shower was a great size and not part of the bath which is always good but the water ran outside the room onto the floor and soaked the towel we had placed there everytime. […] Thought structurally, for convenience that the toilet could have been capable of being closed off from the bathroom area. Instead when the toilet was being used the rest of the area could not be used.Generally we were very happy with the location and the standard, would stay there again due to its location to shopping, restaurants and tourist locations. Location was great and the for a hotel that is in the middle of Chinatown area it was incredibly quiet! We didn't hear a thing from the street outside so made for easy relaxing and sleeping. The only downside was that housekeeping were incredibly slow to make up our room each day and then forgot to replenish the towels each day. They also forgot about […] restocking tea and we didn't have any for our 4 day stay. They also don't do any housekeeping on a Sunday. Not the fault of Citadines (so they insisted) but rather of Hotels.com - my hotel room search online was for a party of two adults and one child. I booked a one bedroom apt at Citadines based on the rates that came up for each property, however when we checked in I was told the rate I'd paid didn't include our child (who wld be another $50 per night). […] Lucklily Citadines waived the fee but I'm pretty unhappy about it. Regardless of whether it was in the fine print of the Hotels.com booking or not, I have booked a lot of hotels online and the rates shown have ALWAYS been for the amount of people in my room search. After an initial mix up over over the size of the bed - we had a confirmed booking for a King size but initially were allocated a Queen size - everything went very smoothly. It was exactly what I wanted and where I wanted it and at what I considered a realistic price - exactly as advertised.
