"Romantic Getaway with a view"
Went here for a one night romantic getaway with my Fiance. The place is like a converted mansion. Was greeted at the door by the innkeeper. Nice guy, offered a room upgrade for only $40 since I was staying in the small room they have, called the Cozy queen. It was a small room, nicely decorated with a claw foot bath tub. The place is right on the bay. […] My fiance and I enjoyed watching the sunset on the lawn chairs. In the morning, they brought a breakfast basket to our doorstep with coffee, some coffee cakes, cinnamon buns, yogurt, etc. It was so nice. I would definitely stay here again. Super quiet, low key, great place to go and get away from it all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is a delightful little inn on a river right off the Chesapeake Bay. The setting is picture perfect for relaxing and resting. Not much of a nightlife but that goes along with the tranquil part. The inn is well maintained with a nice selections of coffees and snacks. Bring a book or grab one from the library and sit in one of the beach chairs and […] listen to the waves or sit in a hanging chair on the back porch and listen to a warbler. "Great Couples Getaway"
My wife and I were excited to get away from the 3 kids for a romantic one-night getaway. We arrived and were offered a room upgrade at check-in for a nominal fee. The room was fabulous (River, Deluxe, 2nd Fl) with amazing views of the river even while lying in bed! Binoculars are even provided in the room to view waterfowl on the river. It was a really […] windy night and we heard some banging during the wee hours, but the staff were responsive and even came out at 1 a.m. to secure rocking chairs in the adjacent unoccupied rooms. They offered to move us to another room, and when we declined, they waived the upgrade fee. Breakfast was delivered at 9 a.m. as promised and was yummy. Aside from the room, other amenities including the boat house and the library/pantry in the main house were also nice. The hotel is a short walk to the Robert Morris Inn, where we enjoyed a fabulous dinner featuring local foods. We will definitely be back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"a sea glass collectors dream"
I needed a little rest and relaxation and Sandaway was the perfect spot. the rolling lawn down to the beach was dotted with white Adirondak chairs with a beautiful view of the water. i brought a book with me but only read a few pages as I spent most of the time gazing out at the peaceful view! The breakfast basket provided at my doorstep the next morning […] was filled with goodies and a hot pot of coffee. remember to let them know if you are not a coffee drinker! There is a 24 hour cozy library just off the entryway which has snacks and beverages at no cost. The beach offered a fun collecting spree of sea glass. I actually found several rare pieces of hand blown glass! I will definitely return next fall. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A great place to spend a few days to relax"
The best mini-vacation we've ever had. We enjoyed our stay & hope to come back soon.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Sandaway is in a quiet little town. You are away from heavy traffic and crowds. Didn't see any shops and there was the Morris Inn and Salter Tavern on the corner we dined for dinner and breakfast. Room was victorian decor and spacious. We requested a room with a view of the water. There are no tvs or internet service in the rooms. The do have a community […] room with a tv and internet access. This a a good place to go if you want to" get away from it all". We sat by the water and enjoyed wine and beer and the view. The only negative when we were sitting outside was the mosquitos. We returned to our room and enjoyed the view from our window. We've never stayed in a bed & breakfast so I'm not sure if the price we paid was good. We only stayed one night for our 25th Anniversary and I feel that we paid a little too much. Overall it was a perfect place to enjoyed a quiet evening with my husband. Great place to stay, right on the water. We were in the "Cozy Room" which is quite small, but still very nice. We enjoyed the basket of breakfast in the morning, complete with Washington Post. Oxford is a sleepy town, and the tourist demographic skews older, but it's a great place to go to relax for the weekend and get away from the hustle and bust […] le. "Sandaway Waterfront Lodge on water's edge"
My husband and I came to Oxford for our anniversary getaway. We found what we were looking for in this beautiful historic town. The Sandaway was very charming. We did not have a room fronting the river, and I do regret that. The view from the lodge was wonderful. I would have liked to view it from the room. But, that was our choice. The proprietors […] were more than friendly and helpful, and I really was not ready to get back to life as usual. The ferry ride over was very neat! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This B&B is a get-away spot. Very sleepy community. Water sports and shopping seem to be the most common activities. Our room was not in the main building, so we didn't have a water view. The room was nice, but a little dated. The staff was very welcoming and sitting on the lawn at sunset was the perfect end to the day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"What a hidden jewel!"

This little out of the way inn is a jewel. We loved the peace and quiet. Oxford is a charming little town. Not much to do there which is good as it made us relax and enjoy our time there. The lawn is magnificent and we enjoyed it morning and evening. Our room (106) was really a cottage. The furnishings were a bit dated, but we loved the space. The innkeeper has put alot of thought into making guests comfortable with having snacks, coffee, tea, etc. available. We will return to Sandaway.

It was the perfect getaway. Oxford is one of our favorite small towns right on the water. Great for biking to St. Michaels, and eating crabs. Inn is in a fabulous location right on the water very near the ferry. Beautiful large lawn with adirondeck chairs overlooking the water. Amazing sunsets. Ben upgraded our room to a lovely, freshly decorated suite. Very clean and quiet. Highly recommend
"Can't wait to return"

We loved our stay at the Sandaway. We opted for room 303 - the 3rd floor loft. It was our only choice for a one-night stay and we were not disappointed. This place is very charming. The room was perfectly sized with a king bed, tv, and sitting area. The bathroom was spacious and had an interesting layout. I originally wanted a room with a porch or balcony when we booked it, but that wasn't available and we didn't need it. This room was also nice and cold for us - a feat for the top floor of an old house!! There's plenty of shared porch spaces in the main house and the spacious lawn speaks for itself. We experienced friendly and reliable service here, and you can get coffee at any time in the library of the main house. There were lots of things we didn't have time to enjoy with a one-night stay, so we'll be back! We had a delicious dinner at the Robert Morris Inn and enjoyed our breakfast basket - delivered right on time. Stay here! Centennial houses are so interesting...

We just returned from four glorious days of relaxation at the Sandaway. We enjoyed the privacy of our own little "cottage", a converted carriage house, hidden by beautiful weeping trees. We did have a partial view of the water, but we were still able to observe and enjoy the beautiful sunsets from the window. The evenings would find us strolling to the water to enjoy a glass of wine while sitting in one of the available Adirondack chairs overlooking the river. Snacks and beverages are available to you throughout the day, and the delivered breakfast basket is a welcome treat if you like to laze around before starting the day. Although comments regarding the breakfast were described as modest, we found it to be more than enough and very much on the nutritious side, offering yogurt, fruit juices, fresh fruit, green tea as well as warm Danish and a carafe of coffee. All delicious. A charming touch! The Oxford Bellevue ferry is minutes and will take you across the water where you can drive to St. Michaels. Another quiet town, but more touristy compared to Oxford. The Robert Morris restaurant is also within walking distance.. The town is quaint, and quiet. Perfect if this is your idea of a relaxing summer get away.

Second time at Sandaway for a two day getaway. Waterfront location in Oxford, MD. Expansive view of the river, plenty of chairs on the grass to enjoy the view with your favorite beverage. Great place to walk along the shoreline...several marinas nearby along with a great public park on the water. You can walk to two of the top restaurants in Oxford...Robert Morris Inn and Pope's Tavern. We had room with direct river view from inside, as well as, from screened in balcony. This a very quiet and relaxing place. There is a car ferry right down the street that leaves every 15 minutes across to St. Michaels. We used it to visit the town's boutiques...a lot of fun.
My Wife and just just finished a stay at this great B&B. It is our third year in a row and we can't wait to return next year. If you want a couple of days away from it all, but close enough to high quality dining and quaint shopping, the Sandaway is your destination. We prefer to kayak and sit on the lawn, with a fantastic water view, and relax and read. No TVs in the room (not missed as the views will blow you away) but WiFi available if you still need the outside world. Breakfast delivered to your door each morning (or you can take a short walk to a local eatery) so you can relax and eat at your own pace (on the lawn is highly recommended). We are adding a night to our stay next year!
"Romantic mid-week getaway!!"

My husband and I had never been to Oxford, but when a special deal was offered on Living Social, we decided it was a good time to check it out. I cannot say enough good things about this inn. The location was incredible and the view from our room was heavenly. We could have spent an entire week sitting on the comfortable chairs spread over the lawn that are there to enjoy the views of the river. The inn was delightful not to mention the friendliness of the employees. I highly recommend Oxford and the Sandaway Inn. It was just what we needed. If you have ever been to Beaufort, SC, Oxford will remind you of this lovely little low country down - minus the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees. If you like to bike, take the ferry over to Bellevue and ride into St. Michaels. Delightful. The weather was gorgeous and couldn't have been better for the end of July.

I didn't even know where Oxford, Md was when I bought the voucher from Travelzoo for our two night stay at Sandaway. Two nights weren't enough we were lucky enough to book a third night. I can't say enough about the wonderful time we had. We went midweek and stayed in the Tuckaway Cottage. The cottage is perfect, it's quiet and cozy and the beach is just a stroll away. There were extras provided like snacks, water, hot coffee and tea, not to mention awesome breakfast baskets if you don't wan to go out for breakfast. Try the Robert Morris Inn around the corner if you do. The Grand Marnier French toast is delicious. It was the most relaxing vacation we've had in years. We strolled around Oxford and found it delightful. A quiet town filled with friendly people. The staff made us feel more like family than strangers. Had a great time using the lounge chairs on the lawn to watch the sailboats on the river. The sunsets are incredible each one better than the previous one. There are wonderful restaurants within walking distance and the food is terrific. Spent some quality time watching the children taking sailing lessons next door at the yacht club. Just a wonderful time in a beautiful spot. Don't change a thing

Sandaway was the perfect place to get away from the rat race that city living can be. The staff were friendly, accomodating, and had great suggestions on restaurants and sites in the area. The Sandaway itself is BEAUTIFUL. The property itself is maintained really well, clean, and inviting. We stayed in one of the beach view rooms on the second floor, and the view was breathtaking. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the comfort of our screened in porch, and hearing the waves lull us to sleep. We had the best of both worlds in which we could relax and enjoy the views of the shore on the property of Sandaway, or take the ferry into St. Michael's to enjoy local tourism, exquisite food, and the local winery and brewery. We absolutely enjoyed meals at the neighboring Robert Morris Inn, and appreciated the proximity of the ferry to St. Michael's. We were also pleased to meet couples who have made the Sandaway Inn an annual "getaway" or anniversary trip. Needless to say, we look forward to our next stay at the Sandaway.
"Great place to "gear down""

Beautiful setting and wonderfully helpful staff. The Sandaway is a charming place in a charming town. We liked everything about it including the proximity to places like St. Michael's and Tilghman Island. If you have a boat to tag along, it's even better even if the crabs aren't running. Just be careful of the local ramp; it's not the easiest to maneuver.
