Gallows Point Resort - St. John

Location is fabulous, both in terms of the grounds and view of ocean/harbor, as well as the proximity to town and restaurants. Units are very spacious and well appointed.

Stayed 2 nights in St. John on our way to St. Thomas. Gallows Point was a beautiful spot. The views were excellent, hotel very beautiful and clean. Very close walk to town with ferry, restaurants, bars etc. Very helpful staff. We did not want to leave.

Our stay at Gallows Point was excellent. The resort is a great location to downtown and beaches. It is clean. The service was great. The units are condos. We had 2 days where it really rained so it was nice to have the living room and kitchen. I had the bottom unit. I think the top floor is worth the extra money. Go to Zozo's Restaurant upstairs. We had a wonderful one week stay at Gallows Point and hope to return both to St.John and Gallows Point. Our unit was very nicely decorated and very comfortable. The restaurant on site, Zozo's was phenomenal. The on-site market was a great spot for picking up a quick breakfast or picnic supplies for the beach, also very helpful with activities

Beautiful private location just a short walk from downtown Cruz Bay. We loved sitting outside and watching the ferries come and go in the harbor, and pool and grounds were just gorgeous.

My wife and I went to Gallows Point for our honeymoon in July of 2012 and could not have been happier! We stayed in a upper ocean suit. The views, sounds and overall serenity are absolutely astonishing and breathtaking! Be warned, this place is very addicting and you'll most likely be planning your next trip before even leaving the island!

This is a condominium style resort with full kitchens and absolutely outstanding views back across to Saint Thomas. The resort is incredibly landscaped with beautiful flowering plants everywhere. We spent a week on the island and went snorkeling, scuba diving and hiked to see the petroglyphs. The absolute best snorkeling was at the hotel itself. Great […] eagle ray there on our last morning. The staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our stay fantastic. The resort is so close to the main part of Cruz Bay that you can walk anywere you need to go in town. Gallows Point provides a luxury condo for couples within a 5-10 minute walk of Cruz Bay restaurants, bars and ferries. We had planned to rent a jeep for several days, but ended up needing it for only one day to get to the hiking/snorkeling spots (Waterlemon cay!) that were not within easy access via walking or taxi. I also love to have a kitchen in our vacation getaways to allow for having breakfasts at our own pace. The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. Gallows Point is not a fully loaded luxury resort - it had everything I wanted (pool, hot tub, grounds, housekeeping) without the luxury resort expenses & crowds. The hotel sits on the elevated banks of Cruz Bay. The scenary is beautiful, the staff is excellent, the on-site restaurant has great food ( a little pricy), the rooms are nice with spacious living area, bedroom, bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. The balcony has the MOSTpicturesque views which leads to the lounge and hammock area at the water's edge. […] You must get used to the iguannas in the lawn areas, but they are all friendly. A magnificent view of the ocean from the room. Two sets of double doors led to the balcony. a second deck enclosed on the top and privacy lattice-work on the sides for rainy days and any smokers. The friendly staff were quick to talk with us, call us a cab and help us out whenever we looked lost. The staff left clean towels and sheets outside our room […] when we left our sign out to "please not disturb". The best hotel we have stayed in by far. The issues mentioned below are only so you know before you go: They had a small bug problem such as black ants and tiny crawling bugs but after all, Gallows Point is on a Caribbean island. They lacked signage that would make it easier to find the swimming pool, hot tub, lounge chairs and shoreline (not a beach as all staff insisted on saying). Another issue with signage and with their guest room booklet was that it did not tell us that there are two grills, outdoor microwave and refrigerator and tables for cooking out in-style. Read more

This is a very nice resort - our suite was recently renovated and was beautiful. The grounds are very nice, the views are breathtaking, and it is very convenient. The pool area needs better upkeep and the pool is tiny. The Jacuzzi was set for 112 degrees and was burning hot so nobody could use it. The front desk didn't seem to care, nor did they fix […] it in the 5 days we were there. In general, the front desk help is not very friendly. The location is what is special about this resort. The convenience store and activities desk on site are very good and they are pretty knowledgeable about the island, though one day when the owners weren't there, we inquired about a rental car for the next day and she said to just come over when we need it - that they are readily available. As it turns out, when we went the next day, they are not readily available and should have been reserved in advance. So that spoiled one day's plans for us. We go primarily to snorkel. We are avid, experienced snorkelers. The reef in front of the resort is ok for a quick spin, but nothing special. Even the reefs around St. John are mediocre with the exception of Indian Rocks. Best to go to Virgin Gorda for an interesting experience. In general, Cruz Bay wasn't much - restaurants are cookie cutter and mostly a lot of bar scene. If you like that - you'll love it here. Zo-Zo's is the resort restaurant - it is excellent. Read more

First time visitors to St. John. Everything at Gallows Point was exactly as shown in their web site. Easy walk into Cruz Bay. Beautiful views and good snorkeling at the hotel, but no beach. Must take taxis or use car to go to the incredible beaches. Taxis are plentiful and relatively inexpensive. Expect island prices everywhere.

This condo/hotel is within walking distance to everything you need in Cruz Bay. The restaurant on-site(Zozos) is fantastic. There is great snorkeling right off the beach in front of the hotel. The convenience store is perfect for drinks and snacks and they will set up tours and rent snorkeling equipment. Everything you need is right there!!

We stayed at Gallows Point two year ago and had an upper harbor view condo. This vacation we selected an upper ocean view condo (3C). The condo was well-equipped and clean. The balcony had a great view and was in shade in the morning. An ice chest was in the condo for our use, and towels and beach chairs were free and available at the front desk. Maid […] service was daily. The complex is within easy walking distance to the center of Cruz Bay so that no driving was needed to go to dinner or other stores. The Everyting store on the premises is very convenient and the staff is knowledgeable about the island and the excursions.
