"Good for the Price We Paid"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jul 7, 2011
The Hotel was nice and the room was clean but the bathtub didn't drain well. They upgraded us to a suit when we checked in and the staff was nice but we didn't have the same experience checking out. The clerk was somewhat rude. Same thing with the restaurant the food was great, the prices were good and the first time we ate there the service was great but the second time the service was less then expected. The pool was undergoing repairs and the cove was windy but the beach was clean. The only negative to the beach was no beach chairs available. The view from our room was gorgeous. Overall it was worth the money we paid and I would recommend the hotel because it is rare the times you get a perfect experience. They do have room service but bring your own travel iron if you want pressed clothes without cost. The neighborhood is not high end but acceptable.
"Tourist location"Reviewed by Jeff H of "Salt Lake City, UT" on May 19, 2011
The location was the best part of the hotel, it is right off of the beach, and there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel. The bus goes to a few locations, and in particular to Arrecife. There is a market nearby and plenty of tourist type shops as well. It is a short time from the airport as well. I had the breakfast, but was not throughly thrilled with it. The food was not great, and as for the wifi, I couldn't get it to work, there was not a consistent signal. The bottom line is that I expected more from a four star hotel, so I would not recommend this hotel for anyone expecting a luxurious four star experience.

"Excellent Apartments and Wonderful People"Reviewed by B McGillicuddy of "Ireland" on Sep 1, 2009
These apartments are gorgeous and the people are so friendly. A small complex it is quiet and safe. The pool is lovely and the view from the rooms is amazing. I'd go back there again in a heartbeat!

The original port and fishing village maintain an agreeable low-key buzz with good bars and restaurants, but it is the beaches that make Playa Blanca famous. West of the centre, on past the new and expanding fashionable Marina Rubicón, and a clutch of luxury hotels, lie the island’s finest golden white coves, known collectively as the Papagayo beaches. Three small cafes are the only development in this protected area.

We enjoyed our 10 days at the Iberostar Papagayo. We chose to go all-inclusive. The food was very good and they didn't skimp at all but the evening meal choices didn't change very much. The location right on a nice promenade was great and made you want to go for walks. Lovely walk to Rubicon Marina and onwards to Playa Blanca. The staff in the hotel […] were mainly very pleasant and friendly. Our main gripe was that the air-conditioning is very inefficient - we moved room thinking there was a problem with the ac only to find it was just as bad in the next room. You have to pay to use the in-room safe and for internet access which is only available in the lobby - neither are expensive though. This is a good, decent hotel with no-frills. Personally I wouldn't rate it as a 4-star but I would recommend it and did think it was good value. Read more

Read more
