This was our first BnB. The Hosts were gracious and friendly and treated us like family. The big old house was full of charm. Ideally located near many historic sites and shops. The food was absolutely amazing. The 3 cats and 1 dog helped with being away from our own "kids". Plan to go back for sure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clean and personal attention"
We were well treated and glad we stayed there. Off the "beaten path". Downtown Dresden (two blocks away) worth a walk through. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Innkeepers were very accommodating and pleasant. Food was excellent. Not only did we have breakfast but we also purchased dinner which was great. The dinner menu was larger than expected and it was very easy to choose what we both enjoyed. Close to downtown Dresden and Longenberger Homestead. "Read with grain of salt"
This B&B has two location within a few blocks of one another; The Pines and The Ivy. We stayed in the Ivy building, which is definitely the lesser of the two. Unfortunately, we had a somewhat noisy neighbor who kept us up. I don't fault the B&B for this, but the walls are slightly thinner than your typical hotel, so you are at the mercy of the consideration […] of the other guests. If I were to be in the area again, I would definitely try staying at the Pines. It's a beautiful house, and that's where the exquisite cooking takes place. The host, Allison, is very nice and helpful. If it wasn't for her, I might have given the place a lower rating. The Ivy doesn't deliver the "wow" factor that comes with a B&B experience, but overall we were satisfied. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely, relaxing and quiet."
My daughter and I enjoyed our 1-night stay with Ali and Marin. We felt very welcome and enjoyed their many pets (3 cats and a spoiled bulldog). The room was very comfortable and the surroundings so quiet. It made for a great night's sleep. Our hosts recommended a local restaurant for dinner which was also a winner. Our breakfast was lovely - looked […] awesome and tasted great, too. Ali put out snacks at night and there's a fridge you are welcome to visit or store your own stuff in. We enjoyed it totally. "tranquility and great food"
Loved staying here, the hosts are warm and friendly, the food was wonderful, the house is restored nicely. We opted to have dinner, which was fantastic. Dessert is put out at night for guests which was delicious. The breakfast was a decadent French toast soufflé accompanied by candied bacon, eggs, and fresh watermelon. Marin and Allison are excellent hosts. Evening dessert was delicious, as well as breakfast the next morning The property is immaculate, but warm and inviting. Rooms are very comfortable. An inn which I look forward to returning, hopefully in the near future.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay was superb. I staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful stay. We would stay there again. The breakfast and evening dessert was delicious!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We spent two nights at The Ivy (Sunshine Room), and were delighted with the B&B. The service was warm and responsive, the food was delicious, and the setting was beautiful and soothing. It required a bit of a drive in the country (at least for us city-folk), but was worth it. We came away feeling renewed and relaxed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were very pleased with our stay at The Ivy - the sister site to the Pines. If we ever find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely try and get a room at the Pines, to take advantage of the wonderful food that we only heard about. Our schedule didn't really allow us to linger as we were attending our son's regatta. Allison and Marin were kind […] enough to leave us a breakfast-to-go in the refrigerator each morning. "Outstanding in Dresden"
It was a great B&B. Allison & Marin could not have made us feel more at home. Everything was excellent including a dinner for 6 under the Gazebo with food to savor the memory of for some time to come. Our new favorite place to stay in Ohio.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel staff could not be friendlier! We had a little trouble finding the place, and one of the staff drove with us to the bed and breakfast part of the hotel so we could follow her. Very cute room, and the town is adorable, lots of cute shops. We will be back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice setting. Very homey."
We enjoyed our stay at The Pines of Dresden. The owners are a delightful couple and are very accommodating. The husband is a gourmet chef so the breakfasts and the one dinner we had there were excellent. The setting is pleasant with a large yard where you can swing, relax in the gazebo or give the hammock a try. Our room was nice but could use a few […] simple amenities such as curtains or shades for the windows, in addition to the scheers, to aford a little more privacy. The bathroom could use another light for shaving and applying make-up and an easy chair for reading or watching TV would be a nice addition. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful 1st time B & B experience!"
We really enjoyed the low key atmosphere of this home away from home! The owners were very accommodating, and Marin is quite a cook! The breakfasts were delicious and served with style, thanks to Allison! It was relaxing and fun to stay in such peaceful surroundings. And we were quite comfortable even with the outside temps over 100 degrees - I was […] a little worried that we would arrive and there would be problems with the AC, you never know when something is going to go wrong in an older home. My worries were totally unnecessary! If and when we visit Dresden again. I'm sure we will choose to stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Traveling to Dresden and finding a treasure in staying at The Ivy and The Pines has been like finding a "home away from home" is quite wonderful. You are greeted by Ali upon arriving and made to feel right at home. A very special place to gather, meet new friends and/or old friends. Our group has enjoyed gourmet dinners prepared by Marin. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast is exceptional. Thank you Ali and Marin. Looking forward to our next visit. Karen

I have stayed at the Ivy twice and The Pines probably 10 times. Always a great time with great food and hospitality. The Ivy is a sister bed and breakfast that has a little different feel as the owners do not reside there. However, there is a refrigerator, snacks, microwave and a small stove if you were inclined to use them. A previous reviewer no doubt stayed in the rose trellis room, with the bathroom across the hall, which I stayed in this last visit. I found it quaint. Again, it is a HOME. My personal feeling is that bed and breakfasts are not intended to be cookie cutter hotel chains. If that is what you want with all those "amenities" then by all means knock yourself out. I go to Dresden to escape. I am not looking for a flat screen TV and a microwave, fridge or coffee maker in my room. It is a home, not a hotel chain. I am looking to socialize and meet others and enjoy delicious food. I am looking for a charming old home and both the Pines and the Ivy fit the bill. It is neat. It is clean. It is quaint and charming. Like all older homes, not everything runs perfectly 24/7 but I can assure you, the rooms are well maintained, and the owners will do all within their power to assure your stay is a wonderful experience.
"Inferior accommodations at elevated cost"
08/07/14 JDLaBash Austintown, Ohio
This was more like a boarding house than what I expected from a Bed and Breakfast. More expensive than the motel my friend stayed in on the same weekend in the same general area, the amenities were far inferior. The generally good reviews compared to mine may be because I was in a different house or different room in that house. I was put in a different house than the actual Pines of Dresden (which I did not know until I checked in.) Other rooms apparently had better amenities. Bad: The room was incredibly tiny, not even 3 feet of space around the furnishings. There was no microwave, refrigerator or bathroom in the room. There was no place to hang up clothes -- the tiny closet was filled with a fold up bed (though there would not have been space to set it up in the room.) The cutesy decor was of cheap quality and the border near the ceiling was loose in places. My bathroom was across the hall, meaning getting dressed and going into the public area when waking in the morning or middle of the night needing a bathroom. The molding around the tub was not properly installed, the wallpaper was peeling at the seams, and in general the bathroom was not well appointed or well maintained. There was no individual climate control for the rooms (I was chilly.) Despite being called a Bed and Breakfast, a real sit down breakfast from a menu cost extra and was only available in the actual Pines of Dresden house, a few blocks away, where parking was barely adequate for those staying there. The "continental breakfast" included in the fee offered no selection. One morning it was some kind of breakfast casserole. On the morning when donuts were served they were of the type you get in a package from a vending machine, one per guest. Breakfast came at about 8 AM -- wake up late and hot food would be cold, wake up earlier and you did not even have coffee available. The coffee was of poor quality. I did not get to eat in the dining room since it was closed for the one meal that would have fit my schedule. For somewhat more than half the price, my friend stayed in a motel room about 3 times the size, with 2 queen-sized beds, a microwave and refrigerator -- and of course a bathroom. There was a one time $15 pet fee for the stay, though my pet never left the cage (not enough space in the room to make it worthwhile to let him out.) Good: The staff was pleasant and did their best to accommodate within the limitations.
"Relaxing and Delicious - Great Place to Stay!"
My teenage son and I spent the night here during a cross-country road trip. We both loved the quaint charm of the place. Both dessert during the evening and the gourmet breakfast in the AM were delicious. He especially enjoyed Sissy, the happy "little" bulldog and the three outdoor kitties that vied for your attention. The owners are friendly, helpful and go out of their way to make you comfortable. Great place to stay!

"Mother-in-law rates service and hospitality with A++++++"
07/25/14 jeffkallas Dayton, Ohio
I set this up my my mother-in-law and her cousin from VA as a "stopping point" for their travels as they met us in Millersburg OH for the weekend. I think their stop to this B&B is the highlight of their trip. The food, atmosphere, rooms and owners Marin and Allison were in her words "Awesome!" I worked with the owners to ensure everyting was set to include their dinners and I couldn't have asked for better service and response.
"A memorable visit"
07/14/14 THELegend65 Tomball, Texas
I booked a friend in the Pines of Dresden for a 3 day stay in late June 2014. He could not have been more pleased with his accommodations or more effusive in his praise of the host and hostess, Marin, especially for his Chef skills and Alli for her devotion to seeing that every guest’s needs are met. He said the breakfast’s were sumptious and the late night desserts beyond compare. He loved the place and the people he met, many of whom were repeat customers from nearby towns or cities and they loved the Pines as a brief get-away. He is definitely looking forward to his next visit. In fact, since writing this he has already booked a week stay for September of this year!

My girlfriends and I experienced a most relaxing couple of days at The Pines. Allison, Marin, and Sissy were so welcoming. We felt as if we were visiting friends. Their home is charming and very comfortable. Be sure to experience one of Marin's gourmet dinners. So worth it!! One of the best bed and breakfasts I have ever visited. I can't wait to go back to this wonderfully peaceful property.
