Everything about the Family Inn Saigon went well. We could walk to many places from the hotel/ or the doorman could get the taxi in short order. There are also a number of restaurants and services right on the the same block. The buffet breakfasts were excellent. Our group did eat at the restaurant one evening. We got there near closing time. The staff […] assured us it was ok to stay and eat. They provided us with excellent service with a smile! And lots of hugs at the end too! The food was very good. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We also used the conceirge for an event. That worked out well too!. My only wish was that they had a pool on site. But, we remedied that by paying to use the pool at the motel down the street. What puts this place ahead of the rest is the excellent staff who work there. Each one of them were friendly and helpful. They did everything to make sure our stay went well. Hotel was clean, air conditioning worked well and the location was fine although a little bit removed from the tourist locations. The room was clean and well maintained. When the A/C is not on the room got hot quick and then there was a odor. Once the A/C cooled the room the odor went away. My room had no window. The were not able to give me a 1.5 hour late checkout. They could only give me one key. They did have a nice breakfast room on the 12th floor, but it ends at 9.30 am.

The roons at the Family Inn were large and clean. They are a good size considering Vietnam standards. Staff at the door and front desk were always helpful and had a smile. Breakfast was ok only - at times it felt a bit stingy as they would not restock bain maries that were almost empty. The corridors and elevator could do with air conditioning.

We requested a family suite for 4 adults but on arrival the room we were shown the staff were just placing 2 mattresses on the floor, which I was not impressed with. We asked for a room with proper beds and were given a room with 2 queen beds which was much better. The negative points we can mention is that we had to continually ask for some amenities […] as they forgot that there were 4 adults in the room and left like 2 bottles of water instead of 4, there wasnt enough shower gel, lucky we had brought our own bath soap! Another thing was there was 2 teacups and kettle in the room but no teabags or coffee??? :( The breakfast was a little boring, didnt have much variety and most times it didnt cater for guests who dont eat pork or beef. Vietnam had so many lovely fruit but we didnt see much in the breakfast selection. Positives - the customer service was excellent and staff were very friendly and accommodating when we requested for amenities! The hotel also organised sightseeing of the Mekong Delta, Puppet show and River Cruise which was fabulous. Staff also recommended Pho 2000, Pho 24 & BBQ which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our first impression was disappointing as whoever was meant to collect us from airport didn't turn up. Sim card in phone had died so thank God for post office at airport. Room service was excellent. Best water pressure from shower while in Vietnam so far. Television was an outdated model but worked well. Street noises in the morning add to vibrant city living. Thankfully it has a lift but on occasions we decided to go down stairs rather than wait on 4th floor for extended periods of time during peak times. In the end we had most positive experience. This hotel is in a very good location. 15min walk to most attractions or a $2 taxi ride if hot. The hotel is listed as 3.5 star which is accurate BUT ALL the hotel staff I would rate up with any 5 star hotel for help & friendliness. Staff who excelled were bellboys Truc, Viet & Huy & Brian in the dining room. Truc googled for my husband were to buy […] fishing reels & then when Truc finished his shift he took my husband round Saigon to help him buy his reels. I have never had that type of service before & we have travelled broadly. The hotel staff were also helpful with advice about where to go & were to eat & also about safety when out & about. Overall a nice cheap hotel in a good location. the staff were nice and helpful, as was the onsite tour agent. The rooms we spacious with en-suite, and were V clean, the food was ok, but a not so nice smell greeted you on entry to the restaurant.

We stayed several nights in 2 senior deluxe rooms. Rooms and facilities were clean and well maintained. Buffet breakfast was nice, although by the end of 2 weeks in Vietnam less fried foods would have been very welcome. NOTE: only one lift to service the whole building and it is very slow. So many times we walked/ran up/down 9 floors rather than put […] up with the interminable wait. Staff are friendly and helpful, but don't always truly understand what you are actually asking for. Due to a housekeeping blunder our laundry wasn't taken to be done and so once discovered we had to pay a 50% surcharge to have it done in an acceptable timeframe. While it isn't a lot of money in the scheme of things it was their fault and we were made to pay to fix it - having stayed in several hotels in Vietnam on this trip it's not the standard of service we had become accustomed to. This was an interesting hotel to stay in. The door man and the staff on the travel desk were wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful. Some of the desk staff were a litlle bit more challenging. First room had false ceiling panels around the perimeter and something was definitely scurrying around up there, geckos maybe? Asked for room to be changed and this was taken care of immediately. Got a room with a concrete ceiling and no false panels so that problem was taken care of. The water backed up in the wash hand basin after only a short time. Power […] outage in the night and took 5 mins to come back on, so no backup generator available. Dont know how common outages are in Saigon? Receptionists very friendly and helpful and gave advice on sight seeing and which markets to go to. Concierge will hail a taxi for you and give the driver instructions were to go and an average indication of cost. Breakfast was good with some unusual dishes for a breakfast i.e spaghetti bolognese, pork stew, chicken and rice. Fried eggs and omelettes cooked to your satisfaction. We lost the charger to our tablet computer, and the staff were more than helpful, and called and drove around the city to get us a new one. And they did not ask for more than what the cable cost. The hotel is central in district one, and is worth the cost for a three star hotel.

Hotel with all necessary amenities. Internal rooms with no windows. Only one very slow lift for a 12 floor hotel. Used by large tour groups - so lift and breakfast were a problem if you clashed with their arrival/departure timings. Location OK for a big city with lots of districts.

To the north in front of the park there is a great Vietnamese restaurant with the plastic chairs on the roadside with ridiculously cheap beers (Saigon, Heineken, San Miguel). Within easy walking distance is Ben Thanh market, the Presidential Palace, War Museum, Peoples Community Hall and more.
