When we checked in the lobby was being renovated. So it was a walk to get to the check in. After seeing the construction, we thought there would be a lot of noise, but everything was very quiet and the lobby was able to be used the next morning for breakfast. After check in Chris called to make sure our room was to our satisfaction and that there was a dining guide in the room which I had asked for.

Nice place to stay for a good price. It's clean and it is quiet. It has a quaint looking common area where the continental breakfast is served.

Checked in Late Friday night and was greeted by a very friendly front desk person. I believe his name was Chase, Carl, or Chad,... Eitherway he was very friendly, the room was great, and so were the ammenities. One of the nicest holiday inns i've ever stayed in, with a great restaurant attached.
Location.
Situated in Steamboat Springs, The Iron Horse Inn is close to Tread of Pioneers Museum, Steamboat Ski Resort, and Howelsen Ski Area. Also nearby are Gondola Square and Fish Creek Falls.
Hotel Features.
The Iron Horse Inn has a spa tub and a sauna. Wireless Internet access is complimentary in public areas. There is a 24-hour business center on site. A complimentary breakfast is available. Guest parking is complimentary.

"A few issues"
Three real issues. First, there is a train track fairly close. It came by once in the middle of the night, and blew the horn right outside. Amazingly loud! Second, the bed was never made. Third, breakfast was at 7:30. We were out of the hotel by 6:50 each morning, so it was useless.
"OK for price"
Not a gem. Bathroom fan sounded like a jet and breakfast choices were slim. Overall worth the price.

"Worth the money"
We spent the night at the Iron Horse Inn this past weekend. The staff was wonderful - very friendly, polite, and helpful. The hotel itself seems a bit older - and as a result is a bit dated. We took a room with a mountain view, which also included a flashing red light of some sort. The blinds were not of "blackout" quality, so if you want to sleep in […] but are easily disturbed by light in the room, this may not be your best choice. The breakfast was of typical continental fare - cereal, packaged pastries, bagels, etc. We appreciated that it was included in the cost of the room. For Steamboat, this is a very attractively priced room, and it served it's purpose adequately - a warm room, a quiet night's sleep, and a bit of sustenance in the morning without having to "eat out." If you don't need fancy, then this is a decent hotel at a very fair price. Read more

"Nice location--except for the train"
The Iron Horse was a fine, lower-priced place to stay in Steamboat. It's right on a path that leads downtown, and makes for a pleasant 10 minute walk along a river. I'd recommend it. One thing though: we had a room facing the back and the railroad tracks. The first time the train came by it was late at night and we thought from the noise and light it […] was coming in the room. "Iron Horse Inn_ In Need of Renovation"
Stayed here because other hotels were full. Would not stay here again by choice. Dirty Stairway and holes in walls in room. For an old building, room was faitly clean, but not great. We could not wait to leave in the morning.
Staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean. The mattresses are very firm. Nice location - only about a 10 -15 minute walk into downtown.

The Iron Horse Inn was great. Modest, but had all we needed. Walked to downtown Steamboat and to the rodeo.

Very accommodating staff, nice rooms, wonderful to have fridge and microwave. Not the Ritz, but perfect location and nothing bad.
Good value for the location in Steamboat - can walk/ride into the downtown area on a paved path along the river. The accommodations are modest, but include all of the basics.
It is fine for the working class but the vacationing will be disappointed.
"Great 2 day stay"
We were here for 2 days. Great hotel, would rate 5 if they had a pool. Internet was reliable and staff was very friendly. Great location!

Nate, the front desk clerk, was very personable, however, the room itself wasn't clean at all. Also, we had tried to check in in the morning but was told to call back after 2:00. When we did, we were given an unfavorable room. The continental breakfast was not memorable. Hot tub's jet sprays only worked well in one corner.
The people were very nice and helpful . We did not make the connection of "iron horse" as meaning a train .We were woken up at 1:00 am and again at three am . by a roaring train with the horns blowing . That would be the only reason I would not stay there again nor would I recommend this place to any one else . Other than that it was pleasant and close […] to everything . "Very minimal, but doable for the price"
The accommodations were very minimal but worth it as the next cheapest hotel in the area was $30 more per night. Front desk clerk was very helpful with check in, and it went smoothly. Carpet in the hallways was very very worn and outdated, but not unsafe. Bed was haphazardly made, but did it's purpose, although I found it a bit hard. Train did wake […] me one night, and scared me quite well, but managed to adapt to it by the next night. Internet worked fine. This hotel was very clean and the staff friendly. It does hae arilroad track that rund behind the hotel but we were not bothered with much train traffic. If you are looking for a hotel with friendly staff, clean rooms, and reasonable rates this is a great little hotel.

we didn"t stay for long> only one night> But it was preety good> The room was clean. And receptenist was very nice. Everything were working. If next time i would like to go to Steamboat Springs agein, i will stat in this hotel agein. Thank u. we had very good time in your hotel.
"Ride The Rockies"
stayed here while we rode the steamboat leg of ride the rockies. rooms are clean and very basic. breakfast is simple with no frills. the staff was great. i forgot an expensive pillow and they called me within 15 minutes of leaving the hotel. i was able to double back and retrieve it. THANKS!

"No frills hotel - Perfect for ski weekend"
Perfect for a quick ski weekend at Steamboat. The rooms are basic, but I wasn't looking to spend much time in the room. Staff was nice and rooms were clean. Location was good too, right in between town and the hill.
"Iron Horse was just fine"
Everything was fine, walls a little thin but that is to be as expected. Was not awakened by train. Front desk people and their dogs are very friendly! Liquor store right across the street in the gas station and bus to ski area stops right outside. Downtown Steamboat within walking distance or a short (free!) bus ride.

Could not have made a better choice given the price and location. Downtown shops and restaurant are a very short walk along a bike path and the free town bus picks up and drops off right out front. This hotel has a lovely view of the river, and is a very convenient walk to downtown restaurants and shops. The rooms are basic, but clean and perfectly adequate for a stay where you don't plan to be in the room much. The trains were a little noisy, but not bad, and heard little noise from nearby rooms.
