"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.
""Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.
"Nice hotel in the theatre district"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012

Wall Street comes to life before dawn as traders rush to Lower Manhattan to make and break deals. But finance is just one aspect of Lower Manhattan, where colonial churches stand next to skyscrapers. Within the district, rebuilding continues at Ground Zero. At Battery Park, ferries depart for Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, America’s beacon of freedom.

"Bizarre Experience"
First, let me unequivocally state that I have stayed here several times and LOVE this hotel. That said, this was truly a strange experience - upon check in, I was to receive a non-smoking room, "executive level" room. I was told that my room was non-smoking but it clearly was not. When I spoke to the front desk, I was told that it was and that all "executive […] level" rooms were non--smoking. Later that evening, a different person at the front desk told me that I was not in an executive level room. They also told me that my room was in fact a smoking room (the distinct smell of smoke and the ash tray in the room prompted my inquiry). When I told the front desk person that I had been lied to about the room, another person working at the front desk jumped in and accused me of being hostile. Ultimately, they gave me a non-smoking room (after I was told there were not available for that evening). I was truly stunned by this treatment, especially after having such a positive experience in the past (and frankly, aside from this, a great experience this time as well). This is a great hotel in a terrific area of Manhattan - this incidence will not prevent me from returning unless it happens again. Read more

"The W hotel- a great experience"
We checked in and the receptionist upgraded us. The staff were exceptional with their recommendations, and the room was comfortable.

I could only recommend this hotel to people who understand that the Ground Zero work continues and the noise level from that is pretty bad...my door shook all night....Also when the hotel has a party it makes for a loud evening for everyone

They know how to take good care of you!
"Room Service"
We ordered room service late at night. I ordered a chicken panini and my friend ordered a chicken cesar salad. We expected quality food being that we were staying at a quality hotel, but that was not the case. The food was terrible. Please be mindful of food service because it is not pleasing. The room was comfortable, but again I expected a little […] more from such a well known chain of hotels. Read more
"Very Comfortable Bed in The Shadow of The Monument"
This is a great hotel, very hip and polished...great for young people who want to be seen...Super Duper Wild DJ on Saturday night. Truly comfortable bed...so grateful for that! No serious objections but must state that it is very difficult to view oneself in the full length mirror, one wonders who designed such an inaccessible place for it. It also […] should be noted that right now the neighborhood is in transition so if one is familiar with the lay out of lower Manhattan prior to 9/11 it can be a little daunting...also there are many more tourists in the area at this time than there used to be. "W Hotel- Besty value in NYC"
The hotel is cheaper because its directly across the WTC site. The staff was OUTSTANDING. Got many free upgrades because I was in town to get married. Convenient to the NYC courthouse and away from the sheer chaos of Times Square. A 20 minute subway ride and you're anywhere you need to be. This place will be very expensive once the Freedom tower is […] finished. Read more

"W New York Downtown"
A very swanky spot, for sure, but down in the gulag of the financial district. Sure, almost everything is a short subway ride away, and Battery Park is 5 minutes outside your door, but there isn't much There there. The hotel overlooks Ground Zero and the site of all the construction is rather spectacular. The rooms are modern chic; we had a corner […] Ultra Hooha room (or something like that....they have silly names for all their rooms) so it was rather spacious for NYC. Read more
"Great hotel but we got screwed by parking garage"
Hotel and service is great! Watch out for the garage. The hotel claims that the over night charge is 35$. If you pick your car up 1 minute after 24 hours has passed, you get a special hotel rate which is minimum 25$ extra. The extra 30 min if you drive in as a regular customer is 7,60$. Not very smart of W to have such rules for its customers.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the W Downtown. The staff was friendly and helpful, our room was inviting and comfortable, and the lounge area was gorgeous and trendy- we stopped there both nights of our stay. We also utilized the MDX service, which we would recommend as well.
"Modern stay"
Nice design everywhere Bar, elevators, restrooms, room.... Close to subway (red line) Very nice stuff Would stay again Great DJ on Friday evening Early bar stop on Saturday (!!!): 12am: shame Better with NO KIDS
"W Financial District"
The W is a chain that promises much but seems to fall a bit short. They did not have the KIng room I had reserved, instead I was given two doubles or the option of taking a "lesser" room. Since I had already paid for the superior, I went for the 2 beds. The room I had was larger than any other W room I've stayed in, but it was very noisy due to construction […] across the street. The construction goes on all day and all night and probably will for some time to come. I can block out the sound of garbage trucks, but jackhammering is another matter. The hotel is in an interesting location, a block from the 9/11 memorial and only a few blocks away from Wall St, but taxis were notoriously difficult to get. The decor is W chic. Access to the lobby/reception is via elevator to the 5th floor. Gym was OK for a downtown location, but not the spa type spread that you get at some other W locations. But you're so close to the Hudson that it's better run along the river than on a treadmill. Coffee is available in the morning on the reception level, but there are no coffee makers in the rooms. A Starbucks is in the lobby of the Mariott on the next block. Read more

"Great but not worth the price"
The staff was very nice and upgraded my room without me even requesting. The room was cozy (I was in the cozy corner room) but when I opened my window, I was in direct view of the neighbors and that was a bit uncomfortable. Especially since the shades are solid; not blinds. Lots of construction surrounding the hotel but it's at a great location. The […] price is not worth the room. I've stayed at other W Hotels and this one seems like you are paying for the name, not the room. Other than the price, I had no problems. btw, the room is not dark and the lighting in the bathroom is bright. You have to insert your room key in a white box right next to the door in order to activate the additional lighting. I think they do this to save on the electric bill. Taking your key out the box darkens the room! You never forget to take your key and you save on energy! brilliant! Anyway, I think they should knock off $100 from the room prices b/c that's what they're worth. Read more
"Average. Not liking the glass bathroom wall"
Cool, modern design, however room maintenance was not up to W standards and the glass bathroom wall has got to go!! Our room had many black marks and paint scuffs on the walls (very apparent in a minimalist, all-white room) and the accent pillows had stains on them. Not what I would expect from a new hotel. Also there is a glass wall between the bathroom […] and bedroom compromising privacy. Most of the glass is frosted, however some of it is not and the bathroom occupants are partially visible, especially in the shower. Also, no spa and the Acura shuttle they promote heavily is reservation-only and seldom available. Read more

"The W hotel ; noisy and modern"
We were 2 adults and 2 kids and hotels.hom and the W hotel book one sigle room for all of us. The manager found a room with two beds for us. thanks. The hotel is noisy. The WTC works do not stop at night. Make sure your room is in the opposite side. The hotel is ok but not super. We expected more.

"The W Hotel Downtown NYC - all style & no service"
We booked a twin room for 2 adults & when we turned up there were only double rooms available. This wasn't a cheap hotel but they thought we would be happy to sleep on a matress on the floor of a very small room - no other alternative was offered. The reception staff did not seem to have a clue about the area, restaurants nearby or anything else that […] might be useful to visitors. This was a very stylish hotel in a great location let down by the staff and a number of instances of style over substance - the room was very dark, the only mirror was in the bathroom and there was no where in the bedroom to plug in a hairdryer. I wouldn't stay there again. Read more

"Great Deal for a W Hotel"
I stayed at the W-New York Downtown for a girls weekend. The staff was very friendly. The staff was also helpful in hailing cabs, giving directions, suggesting clubs/tourist sites etc. There's not too much going on in that part of town on the weekends. However, we found it to be a less expensive and calmer alternative to Times Square. We had no problems […] getting around by train (about 20 minutes to Times Square/Broadway) or cab (about 20-30 minutes to the Empire State Building with minimal traffic). I would definitely recommend to others! Great price for a W Hotel! Read more
"super"
it is a super nice, clean, trendy , brand new hotel. your view is right in front of ground zero. although the windows are quite sound proof you still can hear some of the ongoing construction noise that is happening at the site specially if your room faces ground zero. so if you are extremely light sleep is something to consider. it did not wake me […] up as much. super nice hotel, great dj's on thursday and friday nights but drinks and food at the bar is expensive. subways are close by to go anywhere. totally recommend the W. "W HOtel in New York City"
The service was excellent and the rooms quite large (for NYC standards), modern and clean. The only downside is the location as it is near impossible to catch a taxi down there but the W hotel are really good about getting cabs for you (though you will need to wait about 10 minutes for it).
"W Hotel Downtown"
Really cool and fancy hotel. Nice party Friday night at the hotel lounge. Good for young travelers to the city.
"Micro room"
Very nice hotel with a great staff but the size of the room makes it difficult to recommend. The hotel is brand new so I guess they were trying to hit a certain price point but guessing they're going to lose some repeat business to the marriot across the street.
"It's ok..."
Even though this W was built within the last year it already seems dated. Some of the design decisions are interesting - like the lobby but others don't work as well. The overall feel of the hotel is a bit cold and uninspired. The location is only good if you are doing business in the financial district, otherwise I'd prefer to stay in a better neighborhood […] - like the other W in union square. I also booked the deluxe room that is more spacious and has a better view. The view was not of the hudson but of the world trade center construction site. It is certainly an interesting view, but not the traditional picturesque view you might expect. Also, the walls are quite thin. At 4am the people in the room next door came back and had a party in their room complete with shouting, lots of knocking on their door, loud music... I had to call the front desk about this but the party still continued for another couple hours. Despite the comfortable bed I did not get a good nights sleep. Read more
"The W hotel- ok if you want to stay in a capsule"
i like modern spaces but this place was too futuristic. the room was pretty small which isnt a problem except the hotel is trying to be so "new age mod and hip" that they pay more attention to the "look" than the function. the lighting in both the bedroom and bathroom was really bad so getting ready was difficult. Also, and this isnt necessarily the […] hotel's fault, but none of the NYC cab drivers knew the location which was a hassle. Read more
